and simple way to piece together applecores using
the English paper piecing method. You will want to
give this technique a go. It saves loads of time and
gives perfect results.

Louise Pattern Co partnership, Lisa
says the workload is divided fairy evenly:
“We share pretty much everything
except the bookwork; Lou is amazing
at that! I am really bad at it. We both
just share the PR work. It’s more my
strength as I am a confident speaker
and when it comes to making pattern
packs the trusty husbands are always
there to lend a hand putting them
together. They have become very good
pattern collators. The kids all help out
when needed too. We made a deal with
them that when we sold our first 100
patterns, we would take them out to
dinner… we sold that in our first couple
of months and they have not forgotten!”
So how do they share the designing?
“When we are starting a new quilt
design, normally one of us has an idea
and then we talk about it and add and
change things and before long we have
a quilt design,” Louise explains. “We
use lots of graph paper and erasers!”
“We draw a rough draft of the design,
then each take it for a while and add bits
until we are happy. We see each other
a lot. Lisa has her Gamill Longarm
machine at my house, so we are always
planning the next quilt and keep a book
of ideas for future quilts,” says Louise.
The ladies are both very inspired
by antique quilts. “We like to look at
old quilts and mix them up a little and
