Construction
This pattern was designed using an accurate 1/4” seam. Before beginning, please precisely cut (2) 2” x 6”
pieces of fabric. Stitch them together along the 6” edge. Press and measure across them at the midpoint on
their length. They should be EXACTLY 3-1/2” across. If not, adjust your stitching and try again until correct.
1. Diagonally stitch a 3” square of Center Corner
across two opposite corners of the 5-1/2” squares
of Star Center. Trim the excess from the corners
and press toward the corners. Make 18.
7. Use the Step 2 Star Centers, four of the Step 6 Star
Point units and four 4-1/2” squares of Background
to assemble a large star. Press gently. It will
measure 13-1/2” square from raw edge to raw
edge. Make 18.
2. Diagonally stitch a 3” square of Center Corner
across the two remaining opposite corners of
Step 1 Star Centers. Trim the excess from the
corners and press toward the corners. Make 18.
3. Diagonally stitch a 1-3/4” square of Center
Corner across two opposite corners of the 3”
squares of Star Center. Trim the excess from the
corners and press toward the corners. Make 24.
4. Diagonally stitch a 1-3/4” square of Center
Corner across the two remaining opposite
corners of Step 3 Star Centers. Trim the excess
from the corners and press toward the corners.
Make 24.
5. Diagonally stitch a 3-1/2” square of Green 3,
Peach 3, Brown 1 or Brown 2 to the indicated
corner of a 4-1/2” x 5-1/2” Background. Trim the
excess and press toward the corner. Make 72.
6. Diagonally stitch a 2-1/2” square of Green 1,
Green 2, Peach 1 or Peach 2 to the adjacent
corner of the Step 5 Backgrounds. Trim the
excess and press toward the corner. Make 72.
8. Diagonally stitch a 2” square of Green 3, Peach
3, Brown 1 or Brown 2 to the indicated corner of
a 2-1/2” x 3” Background. Trim the excess and
press toward the corner. Make 96.
9. Diagonally stitch a 1-1/2” square of Green 1,
Green 2, Peach 1 or Peach 2 to the adjacent
corner of the Step 8 Backgrounds. Trim the
excess and press toward the corner. Make 96.
10.Use the Step 4 Star Centers, four of the Step 9 Star
Point units and four 2-1/2” squares of Background
to assemble a small star. Press gently. It will
measure 7” square from raw edge to raw edge.
Make 24.
11.Stitch two of the Step 10 Stars together. Make 12.
12.Look at the diagram below to lay out your quilt.
Stitch it together. Press gently.
13.Attach the 6-1/2” borders to the sides of the quilt,
followed by the top and bottom.
14.Layer and quilt your creation. We suggest
outlining the star shapes and adding a simple
stipple in the background. =You might choose to
detail the diagonal stripes in the border.
15.After quilting, use the 2-1/2” strips for Binding, and
follow the instructions with the Binding Miter tool.
