This is to give you an insight of how much planning is put into weddings. In addition to those all important tips and advice from the wedding planning experts! What were the highlights of the day from a wedding planners’ perspective? There was so much of the day that we loved but if we had to pick out a few elements they would be: Seeing the room transform: This is always an experience but being in the Painted Hall at the Old Royal Naval College was incredible! During the turnaround from Civil Ceremony to Dinner seeing the room go from bare banqueting tables to fully dressed had us breathing a sigh of relief as it looked even better than we’d envisaged. Our florist, Zita Elze, did an amazing job and the production company highlighted her work beautifully with pin spot lighting. The first dance: To hear their chosen song sung live and by a friend of the Couple definitely touched us. It’s like the icing on the cake for us because by that point in the evening it’s pure joy as the guests settle in for the final hours of celebrating. Spending time with the Bride and her bridal party before the Civil ceremony: LaToya tends to spend most of her time with the Couple and their guests on the day to make sure they have everything they need. It’s a floating role but we’ve found having that visibility with them makes all the difference and it’s a lot of fun. How much planning goes into creating something as beautiful as this wedding? So very much! If you ever hear a planner say “it’s all in the planning” that is absolutely true. This was actually the final day of their wedding celebrations – we’d delivered a Henna party and Hindu ceremony on the 2 days before this one. Behind the scenes there were a lot of logistics to plan, such as moving guests between locations, organising hair and make-up sittings, ensuring suppliers knew where they needed to be and by what time. In addition we managed all of the RSVPs, dietary requirements, the budget and a number of payments. Something that was new to us on this wedding was setting up while the venue was open to the public. This made it really important to get the Running Order right and that’s where a lot of time was spent when we weren’t visiting the venue, suppliers or the Couple. In all we’d estimate at least 100 planning hours went into this final day and it was absolutely worth it when you look at the final result. What wedding planning tips would you give to brides and grooms? Tip #1: Have someone on point for the Big Day as the main contact so you can enjoy your Wedding without worrying. The day will go by quickly and you really do deserve to enjoy every minute of it! Obviously at this point we would encourage you to consider a wedding planner …they really are worth it, particularly if you have a lot of suppliers or will be celebrating across multiple days. Tip #2: Lighting can really transform a space – this is an element of a wedding that people often overlook or don’t even consider but if you do it well it can be breath taking! For example pinspotting tables is a great way to add light but maintain the atmosphere.
