VTCT lifetime cards, letters and paper lists sent at registration - changes VTCT is making changes and improvements to reduce its carbon footprint and streamline services. We are taking steps towards newer and more improved services in order to support centres and learners by using modern software. As the next stage, from 1 August 2016 we will stop issuing the lifetime cards, letters and paper lists sent at registration. The electronic confirmation list that is automatically emailed at registration will be enhanced, along with reports in the learner software, which enable data checking, and other improvements. Centres can now obtain full learner lists with registration status and history, using the Centre Registrations Report in Linx2online announced last year, and view learner records, and reprint lists of registrations from files as required. VTCT will be launching a membership based scheme to replace the cards; details of which will be announced in due course. As part of VTCT’s approach to improvement of targeted support, we recently added a new registration column (PartofApprenticeship) to the registration files, which can be obtained from Customer Support or the VTCT website. Further information and announcements will be made soon. 2. VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy (VRQ) (AM20530) update Launch of new Assignment Briefs for 2016-2017 Academic Year VTCT is delighted to announce that new assignment briefs for the 2016/2017 academic year for this qualification are now available. The new assignment briefs feature a refreshed learner-centred format and a revised assessment strategy. They are clear, comprehensive and are linked to the qualification grade descriptors. The Exams Officer at your centre will be able to access them in the Linx2Achieve Resources page in the Assessment and E-Testing section of the VTCT website. Key Dates The calendar for 2016-2017 can be accessed here. VTCT has included dates for LIVE training webinars, which you can register to attend here. These webinars are free of charge to attend. Attendance to the webinars is optional but we would strongly encourage a member of staff from each centre to attend. The calendar has been published for the full academic year with the intention that centres can plan to release staff to participate in them. VTCT will issue a certificate of attendance for all those that participate. There are two types of webinars: a general “Best Practice Administration Guidance” which includes practical support for uploading evidence and using the Linx2 system; and an Assessment Overview workshop that will be hosted by the VTCT Assessment Leads. Supporting centres with training and delivery VTCT’s Teaching and Learning Mentor, Caroline King will be hosting a series of webinars to support training delivery around the new Assignment Briefs for 2016-2017. These will be available on the website from Wednesday 6 July 2016. Webinars can be accessed on the qualification page and clicking on the ‘Webinar’ tab. Resources In response to the demand from centres for examples of learner work; our Assessment Department has created a resource for Teachers and Assessors, to provide guidance on understanding the verbs used in grading descriptors, what they mean, and the associated expectations for learners. This document sets out an explanation of each term and an example of work produced to meet these criteria. This can be accessed here. If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact the VTCT Assessment Department on [email protected]. Page 2: VTCT Bulletin 83 www.vtct.org.uk 3.
