The CastleGate is an iconic venue in the heart of the city, filled with history and
character. If you’re looking for somewhere a little bit different for your special
day, where you can plan every detail from scratch and avoid spiralling costs,
then our spectacular Turbine Hall is the perfect location.
The Turbine Hall can comfortably accommodate up to 250 for a seated
wedding breakfast and up to 500 for an evening reception. Our blank canvas
wedding package offers exceptional value, and enables you to create your
own wedding with a magnificent backdrop. Our aim is to provide as much
flexibility as possible, so you can personalise your day to make it your own.
A dedicated event manager is on hand to help and advise at every stage of the
process, from initial enquiry through to the wedding day itself. We also
provide an extensive list of companies, our friends in the industry, who offer a
range of wedding services to assist in every aspect of your special day.

Our wedding package
The blank canvas wedding package costs £850 and includes:
Room hire on the day of the
wedding until 11pm.
Access the day before for your own
decoration and personal touches.
Banqueting layout for up to 250
guests, complete with round tables,
chairs and white table linen.
Dedicated wedding coordinator
service from the day of booking.
Bridal party changing room if
required.
Freedom to provide your own
food and drink*, or choose your
own caterers.
No corkage fee on drinks.*
Parking reserved directly outside
the venue for wedding cars.
Microphone for speeches.
Projector and large screens if
required.
Flower stands and cake table.
Canopy of fairy lights if required.
Table number/name holders.
A list of contacts and
recommended suppliers for all
aspects of the day.
*please note the CastleGate has no bar or license for sale of alcohol. A mobile bar needs to be hired
(free of charge options are available – please contact the CastleGate office for details).
The process
Meeting
Make an appointment with our events manager at the CastleGate by phoning
0191 233 2288 or email [email protected]. Following your meeting
with us, we will hold your preferred date, with no obligation, for 14 days.
Booking and payment
If you would like to confirm your date at the CastleGate, a booking form will be
sent to you to be signed and returned with a 50% deposit. The balance is then due
one month prior to the date of your wedding.
Planning
You are free to make your special day entirely your own, with the decorations,
caterers and personal touches that you want. Included within this pack is a list of
suppliers who we can recommend, and who can help you design a bespoke
wedding that you’ve always dreamed of. Call us at any time for help and advice,
we would be only too happy to hear from you!
One month before
Make a final appointment with your event manager to discuss all of your
requirements for the day and confirm details such as final numbers, room layout,
schedule for the day and details of any external suppliers.
The day arrives
Included in the wedding package is access to the hall the day before to decorate it
just the way you want. Once you have added those finishing touches, you can
relax and enjoy.
