THE IDEA IS BORN
The concept behind Tamrac’s camera carrying systems was conceived in
1977 by outdoor enthusiasts who loved
nature photography. They, like many amateur and professional
photographers, had a strong need for camera bags that were tough enough
to offer excellent protection,
yet were easy to carry and
allowed fast access to camera equipment to capture spontaneous wildlife pictures.
Without a satisfactory product in the marketplace, the founders of Tamrac, in true
California entrepreneurial spirit, began manufacturing their own camera bags.
They designed these bags specifically for wilderness photography.
California’s diverse geography provided an unparalleled backdrop for the
first adventures of Tamrac into the wild. From the desolate landscapes of
Death Valley to the towering granite peaks of Yosemite, the products
pioneered at Tamrac met the challenges California had to offer. Today,
Tamrac continues to manufacture innovative products based on photographers’ needs and
requests, and to maintain

attention to detail that is unmatched. It’s no accident that
Tamrac products have earned legendary status for their ability to withstand the toughest abuse in the harshest conditions.

The Tele Zoom Pack
Tamrac first introduced the Tele Zoom Pack over
30 years ago just as zoom lenses started to
become popular. The Tele Zoom Pack was
unique because it allowed photographers to
carry a 70 - 210mm lens attached to their camera. Today, every holster pack on the market is
based on this original Tamrac design.
Lens-Bridge® and LensGate®
Divider Systems
The patented Lens-Bridge® Divider System, featured in many of our bags, allows the camera to
sit cradled above the rest of the equipment with
various lens lengths attached and ready for
action. The LensGate® Divider System has
padded gates that swing open and closed to protect equipment from contacting each other.

Total Coverage Tops offer convenience and triple
protection against the elements by providing
three levels of security: hook and loop closures
for quick access, EasySqueeze™ quick-release
buckles for security and a zipper closure for the

This Tamrac invention combines clear vinyl and
nylon mesh to give strength and visibility to the
contents of our accessory pockets.
ZipDrop™ Pockets can perform as conventional
pockets or can be zipped all the way open to
allow a full view of the contents. Each pocket
also has an internal Windowpane-Mesh™ pocket
for small accessories.
In-line skate wheels along with telescoping handles combine to take the pain out of heavy loads.
The QuickClip™ Tripod Attachment System featured on most Tamrac backpacks allows tripods
to be held secure, balanced and ready for action.
This is a stable solution for photographers traveling with a tripod.

This Tamrac design innovation tightly cinches
and locks down the weatherproofed Giant Rain
Flaps on many of our backpacks to provide a
weather resistant barrier and protect the main

Hardware
Tamrac products are engineered with the finest hardware application for each task. We were the first company to use siderelease buckles on camera bags (over 30 years ago). The Easy
Squeeze™ buckles we use today have received world-wide

These backpacks protect digital SLR equipment and accessories in a convenient, easy-to-carry backpack. Each also features a separate and completely foam-padded compartment
to provide quick access to a laptop without disrupting photo gear. The Expedition 7x and 8x are Tamrac’s largest backpacks for carrying an
extensive collection of photo equipment and a laptop computer.
The main compartments are completely foam-padded with numerous adjustable, foampadded dividers to protect two pro-size digital SLRs with lenses attached, a full range of additional lenses, and flashes. Large, foam-padded front pockets with water-resistant zippers hold
laptop computers (most 17” screen laptops in the Expedition 8x and most 15.4” screen laptops
in the Expedition 7x). Alternatively, the front pockets can carry a light jacket or extra gear.
Conveniently located on the outside of these backpacks are two “wing”
accessory pockets with water-resistant zippers to organize and
provide quick access to important accessories without
disturbing your other gear. The “wing” pockets also
feature Tamrac’s patented Memory & Battery
Management System™ that uses red flags to identify available memory cards and batteries from
ones that are used up. Between the “wing”
accessory pockets, a tripod can be securely
carried (centered and balanced) with Tamrac’s
EXPEDITION 8X
QuickClip™ tripod attachment system while the lower, plastic-reinforced Tripod Foot Pocket
holds two tripod legs secure. Inside, two vertical, foam-padded dividers are internally reinforced with rigid plastic. Restraint straps hold the lenses firmly in place. Three WindowpaneMesh™ pockets inside the main compartments visibly organize filters and other accessories.
A plastic, foam-padded platform in bottom provides shock protection while the LockDown™
Rain Flaps protect the zippers from the elements.
The state-of-the-art harness system features Dual-Density Comfort Pads that provide maximum
carrying comfort while Air Flow Channels help keep you cool and dry during extended use.
These packs are also equipped with a BioCurve™ dual-pivoting waist belt to provide a wide
range of adjustment. Cinch straps on the shoulder harness and waist belt, and an expandable
sternum strap allow finer adjustments for maximum comfort. The harness also features “D”
rings that accept Tamrac’s optional backpack camera strap (Model N-11). Strap Accessory

The Expedition 4x, 5x and 6x are the perfect mid-size backpacks
for a wide range of photo equipment.
The main compartments are completely foam-padded with numerous adjustable, foam-padded
dividers to protect digital SLRs, additional lenses, and flashes. Foam-padded front pockets
with water-resistant zippers hold laptop computers (most 8” screen laptops in the Expedition
4x, most 12” screen laptops in the Expedition 5x, and most 14.1” screen laptops in the
Expedition 6x). Alternatively, the front pockets can carry a light jacket or extra gear.
Conveniently located on the outside of these backpacks, two “wing” accessory pockets with
water-resistant zippers organize and provide quick access to important accessories without disturbing your other gear. The “wing” accessory pockets also feature Tamrac’s patented Memory
& Battery Management System™ that uses red flags to identify available memory cards and batteries from ones that have been used
up. Between the “wing” accessory pockets, a tripod can be
securely carried (centered and balanced) with Tamrac’s
QuickClip™ tripod attachment system while the lower
plastic-reinforced Tripod Foot Pocket holds two tripod
legs secure. Inside, two vertical, foam-padded dividers
are internally reinforced with rigid plastic. A restraint strap holds a long zoom lens firmly in

The state-of-the-art harness system with Dual-Density Comfort Pads provides maximum carrying comfort while Air Flow Channels help keep you cool and dry during extended use. The
