reception venue for a classic wedding day in the heart of Brisbane. We will strive to ensure that your
wedding reception is incredibly special - from our professional team to our stunning venue. The
Malt team will be on hand every step of the way to guide you through a stress-free planning process.
Malt Dining’s Attic Restaurant, Malt Bar and Malt Cellar all lend themselves to a beautiful occasion
be it a small and intimate setting or a grand affair. Not to mention, our venue creates a stunning
photograph backdrop from its rustic exposed brick walls to its golden glowing atmosphere. A
wedding reception at Malt benefits from including one-chefs-hatted quality food from our talented

ABOUT THE VENUE
ICONIC WENLEY HOUSE
Market Street is home to the iconic Wenley House, historically famous as Queensland’s first municipal
marketplace, built in 1863. It is within this building that Malt Dining is situated. Its vintage white exterior
and robust brickwork characterise its working-class beginnings and well-loved nature. We have restored
Wenley House’s grand architectural features to their origins and have integrated layers of contemporary
design to visually enhance the space. Wenley House acts as a beautiful backdrop for photos; alternatively,
there are many other breathtaking photography locations just a short walk from Malt Dining. The unique
heritage buildings around Post Office Square provide a city-chic backdrop and the stunning natural
surroundings of the Botanic Gardens bring your photos to life. Wenley House is just one place to start in
a city of wonderful wedding opportunities.
CBD LOCATION
Malt Dining is beautifully located just across the road from the magnificent St. Steven’s Cathedral where
many distinguished ceremonies take place. Malt is also just a few minutes‘ walk from the beautiful
Brisbane Botanic Gardens; another sought-after venue for a special ceremony. Conveniently, Malt is also
just a few minutes’ walk from Queen’s Plaza, Elizabeth Street Arcade, and Broadway on the Mall, placing it
right in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD.
MALT DINING
Malt Dining has three levels of space; The Bar, The Attic Restaurant and The Cellar. The spaces each have
unique characteristics but work together in harmony through a common theme of rustic sophistication.
There are various different ways in which the venue can be suited to your celebration, whether you use
one, two or all three of the dining levels.

ABOUT THE VENUE
THE BAR
As you step inside Wenley House, Malt Bar awaits you, on the ground level, framed by timber arches and
a glowing wall of whiskies and spirits. The original timber floorboards look up to a bar top which boasts
ten metres of beautiful solid Tasmanian oak. Exposed timber trusses line the ceiling and local
contemporary artwork hangs from the walls. The Malt Bar is a contrast of old and new which sets a
distinguished backdrop for a cocktail reception or pre-dinner beverages.
THE ATTIC
Up the timber staircase, The Attic is a hidden treasure exuding charm in every way. Our luxurious sunken
dining room overlooks the city streets as Brisbane’s best kept secret. The Attic has a soaring ceiling and
an entire wall of windows to let natural light flood the dining area. The space is framed by original 19th
century red brick and timber. The Attic’s exposed bricks and beams, and original reinforced archways,
create an enchanting ambience for each and every diner. Romance flows from the grand piano to the
candlelit tables below for a truly unforgettable wedding reception.

ABOUT THE VENUE
THE CELLAR
Downstairs, The Cellar is a romantic and charming below-ground space for an intimate setting. Walls of
vintage wine and champagne surround an impressive timber table stretching the entire length of the
room. A beautiful candlelit setting awaits diners as they step into this cosy space. The Cellar is a truly
elegant place for small cherished wedding dinners, rehearsal dinners or pre-wedding drinks for the
groom and his entourage.
PRICING
The Attic - If you choose to celebrate in The Attic only, we can seat 45 in one side of the dining room and
save the other side for arrival drinks and mingling. We can accommodate up to 120 guests for a
canape-style event. Minimum spend: $10,000*
The Cellar: We can seat up to 20 guests in The Cellar - it is a cosy space so you are welcome to have
arrival drinks upstairs in The Bar. Minimum spend: $1500*
Malt Dining - Whole Venue - With exclusive use of Malt Dining, you can mingle in The Bar for arrival
drinks and enjoy The Attic for the reception. The Cellar is a great space for relaxing later on or for photo
opportunities. We can cater for up to 160 guests over the three levels. Minimum spend: $12,000*
*Minimum spend applies to food and beverages only.

WEDDING FOOD OPTIONS
Malt Dining has various food packages to delight you and your guests. Each food package is designed to
fit the demand, size and budget of your wedding reception. Please see our website for specific food items
which are subject to a seasonal menu.
OPTION ONE - SET MENU
12 - 80 Guests
A formal option for a sit-down reception with delicious fare from The Attic menu.
Set menu options:
- Canapés + Mains + Dessert + Cake - $80 pp.
- Canapés + Entrées + Mains+ Dessert + Cake - $100 pp.
- Canapés + Entrées + Mains + Cheese + Dessert + Cake - $115
Conditions:
- Food orders must be placed at least 2 weeks prior to event
- Number of guests must be confirmed at least 2 weeks prior to event
- Deposit must be paid at time of booking
OPTION 2 - CANAPÉS
25 - 160 Guests
A relaxed cocktail reception with delicious canapés made specially for you. One to two house-made
canapés per person will be presented for each item.

- Choose 5 items - $25 pp.
- Choose 8 items - $35 pp.
- Choose 10 items - $45 pp.
Conditions:
- All canapé selections must be confirmed prior to event
- Total food bill must be paid before event
- Any dietary requirements must be confirmed at least two weeks prior to event

MALT DINING BEVERAGES
Malt Bar is centred around a love of good wine, well-balanced cocktails and, of course, rich malt
whiskies. Malt sources extraordinary white and red varietals of wine to match perfectly with the food
offered. The bar is also home to an array of high quality spirits and liquors which feature in our classic
and contemporary cocktails. When it comes to single malt whiskies and blends, Malt has around one
hundred and ten to choose from; we love the warmth and rusticity that malt whisky satisfies and it is
these qualities on which Malt Dining is founded. Whether you are looking for high quality craft beers or
bubbly champagne, Malt will match the perfect beverages to suit your special day.
OPTION 1 - CONSUMPTION TAB
An account will be run in your event space and secured with your credit card. This will be charged at the
conclusion of you event. You nominate a monetary* or time limit at which you would like to start and
finish the tab. The flexibility of being able to extend or finalize the account remains your decision.
*If you have exclusive use of a room, a minimum spend may apply.
OPTION 2 - FIXED TAB
An account will be set up for your guests with a set monetary* limit. As the limit approaches we will
notify the host. If the host wishes to extend, another limit will be set. If the initial limit remains, guests will
be able to purchase drinks with cash or by setting up their own individual accounts.
*If you have exclusive use of a room, a minimum spend may apply.
OPTION 3 - CASH BAR
A more casual and flexible option; each individual pays for their own drinks by cash or individual
accounts can be set up and secured by credit cards. This option is available in The Bar space only.
OPTION 4 - SET PACKAGE
Malt Dining’s set beverage packages provide a hassle-free option with various great beverages on offer.
Set packages require a confirmed number of guests prior to the event commencing. A deposit will be
required when the event time and date is confirmed. Full payment is required one week prior to the event.
Please note that any beverage packages that exceed 3 hours will require a food order as part of your
pre-confirmation.

BEVERAGE PACKAGE - DELUXE
$40 pp. - 2 hours

Malt recognises that creating the wedding reception of your dreams involves adding your own personal
touch; a unique and memorable event is in the details. We can make the planning a stress-free and
enjoyable process and help you make sure your event reflects your personalities. For your convenience,
we offer a variety of amenities that take care of all of those special details that add so much.
AMENITIES INCLUDED
The amenities included in your wedding package are:
- Prestige glassware, china and cutlery
- Dining tables and chairs
- White linen napkins
- Wedding cake cutting service
- Formally dressed wait staff and head waiter
- Exclusive use of the Attic or whole venue
- Use of rest room facilities
- Restaurant Manager/Event Coordinator to work
with you to coordinate your reception
- Two hours of set-up time; florist, styling, delivery
of cake
EXTRA AMENITIES
Extra reception amenities that are available for purchase include:
- Baby grand piano - Fill the dining room with the rich sound of our baby grand piano for a truly classy
reception. Ask the Restaurant Manager regarding hiring one of our talented pianists.
- Personalised menu cards - placed inside a beautifully folded napkin at each place setting describing
meal options to each guest. $POA
- Place cards - Dress up your table with specialised place cards for each guest. We can organize for place
card holders to double as favour gifts.
- White tablecloths and napkins - classic clean, white linen is available for your use.
- “Get away” limousine - Once the celebrations are over and your friends and families have bid you
farewell, our “get away” limousine will whisk you away to the destination of your choice. $POA
- Table decorations - You are welcome to decorate the tables however you wish, with the exception of
glitter. If you would like help sourcing decorations to hire, do not hesitate to ask.
- P.A. hire - We have a supplier for a microphone and amplifier for speeches; you are able to
hire these for a fee of $150.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
FAQs
- What is your alcohol policy?
The Manager reserves the right to refuse service to anyone who is deemed as behaving in a
manner that may lead to intoxication. All beverage packages must be accompanied by food as
a cost per head for a set time or consumption.
- Are there adequate rest room facilities?
It is suggested that a venue needs at least two bathroom stalls for every 100 guests. We have
four bathrooms in total, which is sufficient to cater for a group up to 150 maximum.
- Can you accommodate physically challenged guests?
The Attic dining room is up two flights of stairs which may not suit some physically unable
guests. However, The Bar has full wheelchair accessibility.
- What is your payment and cancellation policy?
We close all reservations on the date that the booking is confirmed and the deposit paid
(which is generally two weeks before the event date). If the guest number reduces after this
date, the deposit will be kept. If the wedding is cancelled inside one month of the event, the
deposit will be kept to cover cost of trade.

FAQs
- We wish to go ahead with our booking, what do we do from here?
- Please send an email to [[email protected]] with your event details and
requirements. From there, our event coordinator will a meeting date and time to discuss your
event options and show you our venue. Then, our wedding coordinator will email you a
contract and deposit invoice.
- Is there a curfew for wedding receptions at Malt?
- All service of alcohol concludes at 11pm with the view that guests will depart by 11.30pm.
- Are we allowed to BYO alcohol?
- Malt is a fully licensed venue; BYO is not permitted.
Can we play an iPod/MP3 player?
- You may provide a play list on an iPod/MP3 player but all music must be controlled by a
member of staff.

BOOKING AND RENTAL POLICIES
GUIDELINES
At Malt we strive to make your reception unforgettable. In order to ensure excellent service and to provide
full attention to all of your details, we have developed these policies to serve as guidelines for planning
your reception. If you have any questions, please contact our Restaurant Manager.
DEPOSITS AND PAYMENTS
Please read through these policies before booking your event:
- The deposit is a payment of $1000 to be made once your event is booked.
- Your event is only confirmed once a deposit is paid.
- Full minimum spend is required before the day and any extras settled.
- Minimum spend applies to food and beverages only - this does not cover PA hire, cleaning, piano etc.
- A fee of $250 is required for cleaning the venue (including carpets) after the event.
SERVICE TIMES
- Times of service are dependent upon availability.
- Malt reserves the right of refusal based upon other events occurring at Malt on the date requested.
- All beverage services finish by 11pm.
GUEST GUARANTEE
- A confirmed number of guests must be given to your wedding specialist at least two weeks prior to the
date of event.
- A final number of guaranteed guests must be submitted. If no final number is submitted, the estimated
number becomes the final number.
- In the event that more/less guests attend the event, you will be charged for the higher number of either
the final submitted number or the actual number of guests in attendance.
DIETARY REQUIREMENTS
- Special meals for guests with specific dietary requirements are available at no extra charge. This
includes guests with allergies or guests requiring vegetarian options.
- All dietary requirement requests must be submitted to the Restaurant Manager, at least two weeks prior
to your event, when confirming number of guests.
