Paredes, VP of business development international trade & logistics of IVEDC was in Mexico City June 3-6, where he participated at the American Chamber of Mexico National Conference. He also met with Mexico's Chamber of Commerce and the National Chamber for Industry and Transformation. These groups have been crucial in developing key international business relationships and strengthening IVEDC ties in Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey. These meetings are a starting point to already planned business to business meetings and presentations by IVEDC to various industry sectors seeking a California market and trade opportunities. The Valley's first large-scale solar plant became the first to deliver solargenerated power to Sunrise Powerlink and is set to energize thousands of San Diego homes. YKAmerica Strategic Partners The first-ever North American production units for clean-burning, fuelgrade dimethyl ether (DME) have been developed by Oberon Fuels, and will go online in June in the Imperial Valley region of southern California. The production facility and Oberon's cooperation with Volvo Trucks in North America and Safeway, Inc. were announced at a press conference on the steps of the Capitol in Sacramento today. The three companies are partnering to test DME performance in heavy-duty commercial Volvo trucks driven by Safeway for operations in the San Joaquin Valley. Over the past six months, the City of Holtville has been in negotiation with the Imperial Regional Detention Facility to become the Governmental Agency that will be able to enter into agreements with local, state, out-of-state and federal entities whereby the City will be contractually obligated to provide secure detention housing for inmates and detainees under the jurisdiction and control of such entities and supply them to the Facility. The Imperial Valley Gateway Center has entered into an agreement with the Management Training Corporation ("MTC") wherein MTC shall provide all of the operation, management, billing, collection and marketing for the Facility.
