2011 California League of Food Processors Expo
February 1-2 IVEDC, along with Imperial Valley Enterprise
Zone and Calexico-County Enterprise Zone, attended the
2011 California League of Food Processors Expo in
Sacramento, CA. With thousands of attendee's and
California's food processing industry on display, the team was
able to make many business contacts and leads. "The
convenience of the show being in Sacramento allows for the
group to make more use of the trip" said CEO Tim Kelley.
The overall consensus from those that attended was that the
Imperial Valley has been put on the map.

2011 World Ag Expo
IVEDC, along with member of the Imperial Valley Farming
Community, attended the 2011 World Ag Expo in Tulare, CA
February 8-10. With over 100,000 attendee's and over 6,000
exhibitors the WAE is largest agriculture show in the world.
Accompanying IVEDC along the way was some of the
Imperial Valley's new additions such as: Muenster & Swiss
Cheese provided by Imperial Valley Cheese Factory and
Olive Oil provided by Imperial Olive Co. Many passerby's
were interested in how the Imperial Valley has expanded and
is taking advantage of our vast resources, allowing IVEDC to
pick up many possible leads to develop the area.

2011 Imperial Valley Renewable Energy Summit &
Expo Early Bird Rate Extended to February 25,
2011!
With the fourth annual Renewable Energy Conference set for March 15 17 at the Quechan Casino & Resort, the Imperial Valley Economic
Development Corp. has extended the early registration rate through
Feb. 25.
The early registration rate for the full three-day conference is $250
for IVEDC investors and $300 for non-investors. After Feb. 25, the cost
for the full conference increases to $325 for investors and $350 for noninvestors.
The registration fee allows attendees to participate in all
presentations and networking events and to visit the exhibits throughout
the conference. The cost also includes breakfast and lunch throughout
the event.
This year's conference includes a banquet dinner from 6:30 to 8:30
p.m. March 16 sponsored by the Imperial Irrigation District that will
feature keynote speaker, Jeffery Byron, a California Energy
Commissioner. The banquet cost, separate from the conference
registration fee, is $45.
The Renewable Energy Conference, one of IVEDC's premier annual
events showcasing the potential for renewable energy development,
brings together the renewable energy industry with local and state
government and business leaders and focuses attention on the growth of
the industry in the Imperial Valley. Assemblyman Manuel Perez will be
among the speakers as will a representative from the Governor's Office.
Timothy Kelley, CEO of the IVEDC, said the conference has taken on a
critical function in linking all parties together that have a role in the
development of renewable energy in the Valley.
"The Renewable Energy Conference is important because, for one, it
brings new investors to the Imperial Valley, and second, it shows the
progress we have made and it helps people to understand the process of
developing a project in the Imperial Valley," said Tim Kelley, IVEDC's
chief executive officer.
Last year, some 550 people attended the conference. Currently, we
are ahead of schedule in attendance from where we were last year.
Tom Topuzes, an IVEDC board member, said the Renewable Energy
Conference over the years has allowed attendees to stay current on the
critical issues affecting renewable energy development and has provided
a key way for local businesses and government leaders, those in the
industry and state officials to network.
He added, "It also allows people to see what is going on in Imperial
County."
One element of the conference includes a bus tour of areas of
renewable energy development in areas around Imperial County.
Topuzes said two years ago those who took part on the tour had a
chance to see a drill rig testing a proposed geothermal site in the North
County. This year those on the tour will be able to see the geothermal
plant under construction at that site by EnergySource.
Additionally, the tour will stop at the Imperial Irrigation District's
