MEDICARE OPEN ENROLLMENT WITH HICAP

Medicare enrollment happens once a year during the months of October, November, and December;
seniors are able to make changes to their medical insurance and/or prescription plan. HICAP will be
conducting an informative presentation on Medicare enrollment at the Senior Club meeting in
September and counselors will complete actual enrollments in the month of October. It’s open to
anybody that currently has Medicare or has been approved for Medicare benefits.

Senior Lunch Program - Family Service Association

Cost: $3 is the suggested donation for seniors, 60+, and seniors under 60 pay $6.
Hot, nutritious lunches are served daily. Homebound meals are also available.

Get S.M.A.R.T. (Senior Mobility and Reliable Transportation)
Days: Monday-Friday (medical appointments on Tuesdays only)
Free door-to-door morning transportation for Chino senior residents, 50+.
Transportation to and from the Senior Center, doctor’s appointments,
grocery shopping, and pharmacy pick-up within the City limits.
Drop-off is after Senior Lunch program.

DRIVER SAFETY CLASS-AARP
Dates: Monday/Wednesday ▪ September 19 & 21 ▪ Time: 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (8 hour course)
Dates: Monday ▪ November 14 ▪ Time: 10:30 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. (4 hour course-Renewal)
Location: Carolyn Owens Community Center-Chino University Hall-13201 Central Avenue
Cost: $15 for AARP Members (per course) ▪ Payment due on first day of class.
Cost: $20 for Non-Members (per course) ▪ Payment due on first day of class.
A course that will enable drivers to refresh their driving skills and understand how to adjust to
age-related challenges. Driver will receive a certificate upon completion of course that will grant a
discount for their car insurance policy. Classes are instructed by a trained AARP volunteer.

IMPORTANT REGISTRATION UPDATE
The Ageless Times is formatted into a seasonal newsletter and is distributed four times a year.
It includes three months of exciting trips & tours, activities, classes, special events, and class registration
dates within the season. Fitness and computer classes are held in four-week sessions.
Listed below is important registration information:

We offer one registration date for all sessions based on your residency. You have the option of
registering for one month of classes within the season or all three months of classes within the
season. Registration is accepted until the first class date or when class is full; whichever occurs first.

Future registration dates for the upcoming season is listed. Please mark your calendar!
FALL 2016 CLASS REGISTRATION DATES
Fall classes are offered during the months of September, October, and November.
Registration Dates:
Chino Residents: Monday, August 8, and Tuesday, August 9, 2016, proof of residency is required.
Non-Residents: Wednesday, August 10, 2016. Non-residents are classified as those whose
addresses do not lie within the Chino city limits, including unincorporated areas.

SENIOR CENTER FITNESS ROOM
Equipment is available for seniors to utilize to stretch their muscles, increase their physical agility, and
improve their overall health. All eligible seniors are required to have a completed Participant Emergency
Information Card on file and must sign-in with a legible signature prior to entering the Fitness Room.
PLEASE NOTE:
Appropriate attire MUST be worn in the fitness room.
Example: Athletic shoes and shirts with sleeves.
Eating is prohibited in the Fitness Room.
There is a 20 minute time limit per person/per machine when participants are waiting.
FITNESS ROOM IS OPEN SEVEN DAYS A WEEK FOR SENIORS, 50+.

AGELESS FUNNIES
“Sugar why don’t you sit down by the table and we’ll start supper,” said Dorothy to her Husband of 50
years. “Sure thing,” said her husband settling himself down. “Now darling, would you like the soup first or
the salad?” questioned Dorothy. “Umm, I guess I’ll take the soup.” he responded.
After a whole meal of one endearing term after another, their guest Bob couldn’t contain his curiosity any
longer. Bob snuck into the kitchen and asked, “Dorothy do you always talk to your husband like that?”
“Bob, I’ll be honest with you,” Dorothy replied. “It’s been five years now, I just can’t remember his name,
and I am just too embarrassed to ask him!”

Aquarium of the Pacific ~ October 5 ~ The Aquarium of the Pacific is a world-class aquarium,
exploring the waters of Southern California, Baja, and Northern and Tropical Pacific.
The Aquarium features outdoor exhibits, including Shark Lagoon, Lorikeet Forest Aviary, and
Watersheds. This trip is for seniors ages 50+ with a valid photo I.D.
Bus departs at 8:00 a.m.; returns at 3:00 p.m.
50+ Senior Fee: $15 per person - Only 20 seats!

Morongo Casino, Cabazon ~ October 16 ~ City transportation to Morongo Casino to enjoy an
afternoon of your favorite slots and gaming tables. Lunch on your own at any of the casino
restaurants.
Passengers must be 21+.
Bus departs at 9:00 a.m.; returns at 5:00 p.m.
Resident/50+ Senior Fee: $15 per person / Non-Resident Fee: $25 per person - Only 20 seats!

Tom’s Farms ~ November 19 ~ City transportation to Tom’s Farms in Temecula featuring a variety of
