Next week the school will close on Friday 20th December at 1.30pm for a two week break. We all return on Monday 6th January 2014 ready for whatever the New Year brings. Yesterday the Evening Standard published the DfE Performance Tables and I am very pleased to say that Larkswood Primary is a good school with results bang in line with National Averages this year. We are pleased with the results and thank the children and parents of Year 6 2012/13 for working so hard to attain this after a challenging few years at Larkswood. I would like to give a big thank you to the LPSA who organised a wonderful school fete. It was a great success and we all look forward to the next LPSA event. I would like to take this opportunity to wish all parents and children a lovely break and of course a Happy New Year Best wishes Lynne Harrowell School will close at 1:30pm on Friday, 20th December. The school council were very lucky to be one of the first groups to see and discuss the plans for the Key Stage 2 ‘muddy mound’ development. They had the opportunity to see what it will look like and what the plans are for the area. It was a huge privilege and all of the members really enjoyed it. The children were invited to ask questions to the architect, River. The children were an absolute joy and came up with some really in depth questions. Some of the children even inspired River to change his ideas. Questions included: When will the area be finished? How long will it take to build? Will there be light under the playground? How many children will be able to play on it? How tall will it be? Every child left that meeting feeling excited and a little curious about the muddy mound play area, but one thing is for certain...It's going to be amazing!! Ben Turner-Williams Larkswood Christmas Fete A Great Success! Thank you to the LPSA! Games, stalls, food, music and a visit from santa all added to the festive cheer of the Larkswood School Fete. After the competition the cakes were sold at the Christmas fete and lots of complements were given about how tasty they were. RFD have fun at the Discovery Centre, Stratford A grand day out was had this week for the children in RFD at the Discovery Centre. Reminder to Nursery Parents applying for Reception places Parents with nursery children wishing to apply for a Reception place at Larkswood (starting in September 2014) must by January 15th 2014. Apply on line at www.eadmissions.org.uk. This is for children born between 1 September 2009 - 31 August 2010. We do now have some paper application forms in the school office but unfortunately no more information brochures are available. Request to parent’s and carer’s for your used stamps At this time of year I’m sure all of you will be receiving Christmas cards through the post. We would be very grateful if when you are opening your post that you just take an extra second to also rip off the stamp on the envelope. We are currently collecting used postage stamps for the RNIB Guide Dogs. Stamps that are collected are literally worth their weight in gold for the charity so please hand in all your used stamps to a member of the office team at Larkswood. Many thanks. Fundraising continues at the School Book Fair Children were given the opportunity to view and purchase a selection of books from the publisher Scholastic last week at the school fair. It was a great success and the children took their time and enjoyed looking at all the books before making their purchase. The school was awarded commission on every book sold and we hope to of raised £1500 to go towards more books for the school. A big thank you to you all and we hope that your children are enjoying their books. What one shall we choose? Harry Potter: Warner Bros Studio London: Year 6 Year 6 pupils had a totally amazing day out at the Harry Potter studios in London. Special effects, costumes, sets and amazing creatures were just a few of the great things to see and do at the studios. The children were still talking about it the next day and have also been incorporating the experience into their written work this week.
