University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee Milwaukee, WI Two dynamic universities have joined forces to provide an early admission program for students who would like to be accepted into pharmacy school directly out of high school. The Dual Acceptance Program (DAP) permits students to complete their prerequisite requirements during two years at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, then transition into Midwestern University’s Chicago College of Pharmacy to begin a fouryear Doctor of Pharmacy program. To be eligible to apply students must: • Ensure their seat at the Chicago College of • Be in their senior year of high school at the time of application. • Be accepted into the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee. • Apply to the Dual Acceptance Program (DAP) through the University of WisconsinMilwaukee by February 15th. • Score in the top 20% on a national college entrance examination (ACT 25 or higher; SAT 1700 or higher). Exams must include a writing component score. • Earn a minimum cumulative grade point average (weighted) of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale. • Demonstrate a people service orientation through community service or extracurricular activities. • Demonstrate motivation for and commitment to the pharmacy profession as demonstrated by previous work, volunteer, or other life experiences. • Possess the oral and written communication skills necessary to interact with patients and colleagues. • Be waived from having to apply to Eligible students obtain and submit DAP application materials at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee’s Admission Office. The MWU, Chicago College of Pharmacy will then review the completed applications it receives, will conduct interviews with select candidates and will make recommendations to accept or deny students into this program. Program Requirements and Prerequisite Courses Midwestern University’s Chicago College of Pharmacy Founded in 1991, the Chicago College of Pharmacy (CCP) offers the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree. Its successful curriculum emphasizes patient-centered care, communications, and uses group learning approaches to foster the team-oriented healthcare environment seen in current practice. CCP alumni work in community pharmacies, hospital settings, educational institutions, pharmaceutical companies, and managed care organizations. CCP is part of Midwestern University, an academic community committed to health To retain their admission into CCP, students admitted to this program must successfully complete the following DAP requirements: • All pre-pharmacy prerequisite courses must be completed at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee within two years. • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.20 must be achieved at the end of the spring semester/quarter of the first and second pre-pharmacy years, and at the end of all pre-pharmacy coursework at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. • Students must earn a minimum grade of "C" in all required courses. A grade of "C-" or lower is not acceptable. • Students may not repeat any prerequisite course for a higher grade. Students must submit all required deposit fees according to the schedule in their letters of understanding. • Students must comply with the requirements outlined in the matriculation agreement and Technical Standards certification form. • A University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee designee will meet with students every semester for advisement. The designee monitors the progress of students at the completion of every semester and will advise CCP of any students failing to meet the requirements. In addition, students in the DAP program will be required to provide the MWU Admissions Office with an official University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee transcript at the end of their 1st and 2nd prepharmacy years. • Any student who fails to complete the program can apply to CCP via the traditional route (i.e., complete an application via PharmCAS, submit PCAT scores, etc.). Must be non-science, non-math, nonhealthcare, non-physical education related. Placement exams may be required for some courses, so students may be required to take additional hours if they need to complete prerequisite coursework for the above courses. Summer courses may be required to complete the program within the two-year timeframe. This list is subject to change.
