Shopping & Style Spin this style Hudson Lodge This chalet-themed lounge inside the Hudson Hotel shows you how to create a winter oasis at home, without dropping serious dough. By Cristina Velocci When the Hudson Hotel (356 W 58th St at Ninth Ave; 212-554-6000, hudsonhotel .com) decided to winterize its outdoor terrace bar, Private Park, for the first time in its 12-year history, Verena Haller, senior vice president of design for Morgans Hotel Group, had just five weeks to transform the lush garden space into a temporary chalet-chic lounge (open through February 28). With a quick turnaround and an even tighter budget of $20,000, Haller relied on her in-house design team to source skilodge-inspired accessories from various Soho decor stores, in order to dress up the preexisting furnishings. “When you decorate your home for the season, you don’t want to spend a lot of money,” notes Haller. “You’re not going to move the furniture out, but you’ll have different pillows and throws, and more candles than you usually do. That’s exactly the approach we took here.” Shopping GET the LOOK s Savannah Story ram bust, $48, at Anthropologie, locations throughout the city; visit anthropologie.com d Room & Board fluted curved stool, $299, at Room & Board, 105 Wooster St between Prince and Spring Sts (212-3344343, roomandboard.com) d Pier 1 Imports brushed mink fauxfur throw, $56, at Pier 1 Imports, 1110 Third Ave between 65th and 66th Sts (646-358-1360) • 71 Fifth Ave at 15th St (212-206-1911) •pier1.com f Zara Home Lucy lantern, $60, at zarahome.com d Shades of Light vintage-style sign letter sconces, $89 each, at shadesoflight.com 28 TimeOut.COM/NewYork January 10–16, 2013 Photographs: hudson lodge: Jessica Lin s Pottery Barn faux-fur pillow cover in caramel, $30, at Pottery Barn, 1965 Broadway at 67th St (212579-8477) • 117 E 59th St at Lexington Ave (917-3690050) • 100–104 Seventh Ave between 16th and 17th Sts (646-336-7160) • potterybarn.com
