God’s Listeners at CCUMC
Clyde Central is blessed to have several youth who
are dedicated to walk with Jesus through life.
They serve in the church as acolytes, actors,
actresses, assistants in the nursery, and as greeters.
They are in the fourth through the tenth grades.
During the school year, they meet on Sundays after
church. They meet various times during the
summer months.
They are involved in many activities, which are
described in this newsletter. The youth are excited
to be a part of Clyde Central. They are led by Amy
M
Putnam and supported by the entire church!
We hope that you enjoy this first edition of the
youth newsletter. We appreciate all that Clyde
Central does to support the youth. Enjoy!
Sincerely,
CCUMC Youth

Claymates: Paint Your Own Pottery Trip in March, 2013
“Go therefore and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of
the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit, and
teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you” (Matthew:
28:19-20).
Youth Confirmation Retreat at Lake Junaluska
In April, some of the youth went
to Lake Junaluska for a
Confirmation Retreat. They were
involved in many activities allowing
them to gain understanding about
what it mean to be a Methodist.
They toured the World Methodist
Museum, made stoles, learned about
teamwork, learned about
Compassion Care, heard Duffy
speak, and were introduced to
“Chuck Knows Church”. Among
other things, the youth learned that
“God has a plan, man has a problem, and the choice is up to you!”.
They bonded as a group, had a
lock-in at the church, played basketball, and walked around the lake.
Dan will have some confirmation
classes with them and then they will
be ready to be confirmed!

Youth Raising Money for Missions
The youth sold breakfast food,
snacks, and drinks at the yard sale
at church. They raised $120.00 that
will be split between two missions.
They voted to give the money to a
child who is burned in Kenya and
to help with water filtration in El
Salvador. Both of these are
supported through Create
Compassion.

Trip to the Waynesville Pool and Fun Depot
Many youth went to the Fun Depot in Asheville at the end of May to celebrate the beginning of summer break. They played games, drove race cars, and ate pizza and ice cream! Thank Kim Bolden for going
with us! You are probably still recovering!
On June 12, several of the youth went to the Subway and the Waynesville Pool for a day of fun and
fellowship. With the pool in view, the only thing that they could do was put on goggles and jump in!
Other Youth Information!
The youth have also cleaned up the playground at church. They spread mulch in areas of need and put about five
bags of sand in the sandbox. Before the summer, the youth were involved in several bible studies including
Lent, Love, Mothers in the Bible, Holy Week, and God in the
Media. Each week they review a verse and discuss the meaning behind it. They are excited to be growing in their Christian
walk. Thank you CCUMC for all of your support!
