Travers introduces its Spring 2012 collection, with inspiration from diverse cultural experience; composed in four
unique collections: Equinox, Antalya, Bodrum and ODESSA (Warner Fabrics).
EQUINOX, a time of equal day and night, describes the
illumination of a universal colour palette. The daylight is
reflective of bright, vibrant colours such as pinkberry,
parrot green, and turquoise blue, complemented with the
rich evening colours of cocoa, dark ink of the midnight sky
and silvery cream of moonlight. The celestial ambience is
achieved with the introduction of five patterns that make
a great dynamic impact. This concentrated grouping of
designs consists of velvets, silks and dramatic jacquards
that pare well with hues that eclipse day and night, there is
find a perfect balance in the Equinox collection.
ANTALYA — With the introducing of our largest print
assortment to date for Travers, this document inspired
collection, takes its origin from the Travers design studio.
It offers various design scales and motifs from ikat,
Jacobean, florals, tree of life, and fleur de lis damasks
printed on natural ground clothes with an extraordinary
relax hand and drape-ability. The revival of classic designs,
a freshen colour palette married with technological finishing
advancements has played a role into breathing new life into
this Travers collection. This classic revival introduces the
new traditional to the design community in a luxurious way!

Tree Breeze, inspired on a trip to India. The loose
whimsical hand of the trees swaying gives this pattern
its charming appeal. Each process within production
must be carefully handled to achieve the effects: first the
ground is dyed, then the print has to be strategically
placed with screens and finally machine embroidered
motifs come to life in the layout. Tree Breeze is great
for wall covering, bedding and drapery.
Created in the Travers design studio, Nordic
Damask is a texture damask design with a fleur de lis
enhanced by clean fresh colours, which give a modern
twist.

from a document found in the archive of an Italian mill.
Suzani has great proportions with its eye-catching
layout. The watercolour edges used in the printing
technique soften the all over spirit. The colouration of
this print ties into Marlowe Stripe.

This beautiful interpretation of the Tree of Life with its
refreshing watercolour influences is sure to make
Theodore a favorite. It ties together classic design
concept with an inviting palette livening interior
applications.
Mosaic Velvet’s unique design process allows for
truly glamorous velvet. It is an artesian process, as well
as industrial and mechanical. The goods are first
processed as woven velvet and partially finished to
create the right base for printing. The next step is the
lamination of the velvet to create the mosaic effect; by
using an embossed cylinder the design embedded. The
final stage is a special finish imparting the worn beauty
of distressed leather.

T his design was taken from the Travers archives.
Turnbridge’s abstract floral motifs are printed on
100% linen with a nice soften finish. The watercolour
print technique gives Turnbridge a romantic flair.
The overall layout is user friendly and can be applied
on bedding and drapery. As we start to see florals
making their way back into the interior, Turnbridge
compliments existing contemporary patterns.

Pondicherry was inspired by an old Sarong found
in a vintage market in Paris. Although ethnic in its roots,
different elements of the design were taken and
transformed, using the ikat technique, into elongated
motifs. The elements are depicted in a more contemporary way so the design fits well with modern and
classic looks. Printed on a jute linen textured ground,
Pondicherry has a big personality.

Batik Bird is based a “batik” type resist-printed
drapery, from the late 18th or early 19th century, found
in a private château in the Lyon region of France. The
novelty creatures hidden within the design are indicative of the Travers charm. Hand printed on 100 %
linen and processed with a special fashion inspired
softening technique renders a wonderful drape-able
hand. In keeping with the original document details, the
resist print technique allows the off-white structure to be
printed first and the other colours applied on top. The
resist dyestuff permits the structure to show through thus
giving the design its very specific look.
Working with the print mill archives for inspiration,
Monterey’s floral motif, framed inside the damask,
sets in balance the yin and yang colour to design
harmony. Monterey is printed on cotton linen blend
ground and processed with a special fashion inspired
softening technique rendering a wonderful hand. The
basket weave ground gives texture and dimension
suitable for upholstery, yet with wonderful drape-ability
can be used at the window.

T ingalay is a fashion forward stripe, balancing the
sturdy masculinity of the awning stripe with the delicate
more feminine pattern of the Ikat. This luxurious stripe
has a modern elegance with a rustic twist. The vibrancy
of colour and finish is brought to the front by the use of
rayon in the warp. The playful colour balance in the ikat
is achieved by twisting and binding the warp in
sections, then dipping into the steaming dye buckets.
Once dyed, the bindings are undone to reveal the
undulating wash of colour. The whole effect of this
large-scale asymmetric stripe is one of balance and
beauty. The hand of this fabric is soft and desirable
hinting back to the original inspiration of fashion.

masculine feel. Processed with a special fashion
inspired softening technique renders a wonderful
drape-able hand.

Comoros, a reversible design, is ethnic in its roots,
yet modern in its construction. A studio inspired design
with origins from an ethnic rug motif, this large-scale
54-inch repeat will mix comfortably in a loft setting, or
pared with sophisticated urban views, it has a certain
“je ne sais quoi”. Making a statement without uttering
a word.

Tazza Embroidery is a stunning piece of handcrafted textiles inspired by tradition and ethnic beauty. The
base cloth is hand dyed using the traditional method of
tie and dye. Tying the warp into carefully measured
sections creates the subtle pattern. These sections are
covered tightly so when dipped in the dye, only the
areas un-tied are coloured. Once dry, the warp ties are
carefully undone revealing the original colour underneath. The yarns are then carefully wound onto the beam
and carefully pulled through the loom.
The yarns slightly shift and the movement of the design
creates the Ikat. The base cloth once completed is
washed and finished ready for the labor-intensive
embroidery. Heavy cotton yarns are embroidered by a
hand guided sewing machine to create the dramatic
and powerful motif that repeats across the fabric. The
embroidery technique is delicate and takes the experienced embroiderers a day to complete three meters.

Floral Sphere is an organic medallion pattern
inspired by nature and history. The shapes reflect back
to garden mazes and hints of French pottery. The large
scale of this design is strengthened with the detailing
and delicate shapes of the smaller elements. To create
the beautiful depth in colour and variance in the print a
minimum 8 screens were used. The strength and relief of
the hand guide embroidery contrasts and complements
the gentle colour dappling of the print, hinting of the
playful summer sun dancing across the leaves.

Charlotte was inspired by a studio document. The
cotton ground is woven as a stripe, the ogee fleur de lis
is hand printed on top. By combining these two
processes we achieve a block printed effect. Charlotte,
a universal design, will cross over not only to Travers
but all the Zimmer + Rohde brands.
Marlowe Plain, a cotton twill with soft brushed
hand, is offered in 10 colourways. It is wonderful for
upholstery.

Cooper Damask is inspired by an 18th century
damask document. The two over repeat has a grandiose presence. The enhanced ikat effect accentuating the
mélange of subtle colour effect seen in the outline of the
damask. The tight construction of the fabric is perfectly
suited to upholstery use and blended linen viscose yarns
achieve higher abrasion.

Equinox, woven by fine Belgian weavers, the design
is inspired from an Eastern Kilim designs. It is a cut,
uncut jacquard velvet, the design incorporates in a
complex geometric layout, with layers weave and
colour. This fabric is woven in a very rich and heavy
quality with both cut pile and loop pile making this
fabric very unique.
Rivington Velvet, a jacquard velvet inspired from
an Italian design, is woven face to face. The woven
jacquard ground coupled with the cut pile gives
Rivington Velvet its unusual eye catching appeal.

silk plaid document, in the studio. Its large scale and
interlacing of textured weave give it a casual effect but

This design is cool like fire: Andalucía Velvet fuses
an exquisite juxtaposition of velvet weaving with
embroidery. Created on a satin weave ground, the
alternating velvet stripe is created first with an ikat
effect. The embroidery yarns are custom dye and
prepared for a computerized embroidery machine.
Due to the unique process, only 11 meters can be
embroidered at one time. Andalucía is a showstopper!

Tahoe Stripe, a wonderful organic design, is celebrated in a fusion of natural fibers. Designs of this
nature originated from the early 15th century in the
north of Britain as traditional ingrain carpet illustrations.
A marriage of the finest merino wool and natural linen
flax, expertly dyed to create the most subtle mélange
blend of colours. The ombre stripe emulates shadow
and creates a sense of texture that lends itself to the
subtle colour combinations created by the sophisticated
mixture linen yarn in the weft. A timeless, contemporary
yet traditional design recreated in the finest quality of
Scottish wool/linen blend cloth.

ODESSA – the new Warner collection. Odessa continues
the global journey to the Eastern ports with the delicate,
whimsical stitchery of Tree Breeze; a splendid hand block
print, Suzani, and the coordinating colourful kaleidoscope
stripe, Marlowe Stripe. A collection staple, Marlowe
Plain, compliments the colour palette within each design
establishing continuity, a punch of colour and welcome
additions to any room setting.
