BLOOMSBURG PA FAIRGROUNDS
OFFICIAL PRESENTING SPONSOR
WELCOME
TO THE
A
August 8-10, 2014 • Bloomsburg, PA
s the co-owners of Carlisle Events,
Lance Miller and I would like to share
a hardy welcome to you and thank you
for choosing to join us this weekend. This show
has grown since we first started supporting
it in 2012 and that would not be possible
without you. You’ll notice some changes this
year and we hope you enjoy them. Back by
popular demand, you can enjoy the Flames
R’ Us Flamethrowers, and for the first time at
this show, a demolition derby! In addition, we
have added more family fun with live music,
dancing and a movie; American Graffiti. In
addition, we take the fun downtown with the
Gridlock Parade and on top of it all, we strive to provide you with the
best possible car show experience ever!
Our staff that has traveled from Carlisle will do their best to accommodate your needs and help you feel at home. We’ll have staff taking
photos and video that will end up on our website, plus they’ll be helping
the Dream Machines Motor Club with other entertainment and activities. We want you to enjoy the food too, after all, many of the same
vendors from the Bloomsburg Fair in September are onsite this weekend.
Finally, we ask that you be respectful to those next to you throughout the weekend. While there is no reserved parking, we hope you’ll be
considerate when securing the place where your beauty will be.
This will be a fun family weekend with cool cars, great activities and
delicious food. Also, if you like what you see here, consider joining us in
Carlisle for our events at the Carlisle Fairgrounds. Make yourself at home
and enjoy the Bloomsburg Nationals.
— Bill Miller, Jr. and Lance Miller, Carlisle Events Co-Owners
H
ello, and welcome to the 2014 edition
of the Bloomsburg Nationals: Powered
by Carlisle Events! My name is Tyler
Staley, and I am very excited to be the new
event manager for this year’s show. We have a
ton of great activities slated for this weekend,
including The World’s Largest Demolition
Derby – hosted by JM Productions, a flamethrower show presented by
Flames R Us, a burnout competition and also Date Night on Saturday
evening. With many new activities available for your enjoyment, this
should be an exciting weekend for enthusiasts of all ages.
My fellow staff members often describe the Bloomsburg Nationals as
“a show for anything with wheels and an engine.” I think this description
is great, because this truly is a show for any and every type of gearhead.
The fact that all types of car lovers get together and enjoy a weekend
full of fun makes this an event we, as a company, are glad to have on our
roster. I have always been a fan of anything mechanical, regardless of
make or model, so I am eager to meet all of our supporters and enthusiasts this weekend.
I would like to offer a particular nod towards all of our car club volunteers who help us with the show – your efforts are truly appreciated.
Without our dedicated club members and fellow enthusiasts like you,
shows like this would not be possible. I want to sincerely thank everyone
taking the time to come to the show and I hope
you have a fun, safe and thrill-filled weekend!
— Tyler Staley, Event Manager

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS
Thursday Kick-Off Party
Teeter Totter Contest
Join us for a kick-off party at Quaker Steak & Lube for drinks, great food
and an unmatched automotive atmosphere.
Local radio station Y106.5 will be onsite as well as live music from
local talent Bryel Frasch from 8 to 10 p.m. Frasch, 16 and an up and
coming singer, is involved in her school music and theater programs and
has participated in County Chorus for the past three years. In 2011, she
was named Schuylkill County Junior Idol. Most recently, she sang the
National Anthem in Hershey at the PIAA wrestling championships.
Test your skills on the large-scale teeter totter to see how quickly you can
balance your car and keep it centered. Register at the Volunteer Hub.
Friday Gridlock Parade
World’s Largest Demolition Derby:
Presented by JM Productions
Cruise to downtown Bloomsburg Friday afternoon for the alwayspopular Gridlock Parade and Block Party. Limited to 250 vehicles.
Participants receive a limited edition dash plaque. Register at the
Volunteer Hub. $5 donation is appreciated to benefit DMMCchosen charities.
Live Music: Autumn’s Golden Oldies
Autumn’s Golden Oldies plays a little bit of country, oldies and everyone’s favorite, Elvis! Bring the family, see the cars and hear the tunes on
Friday.
Flamethrower Show
Your favorite flamethrowers from Flames R Us will be lighting up the
night sky at 8 p.m. on Friday evening and the fun takes place on the track,
adjacent to the main part of the fairgrounds.
Slow Drags Contest
How slow can you go? When the lights on tree turn green, step on the
gas and coast off that initial thrust of power. The fastest/slowest car wins!
Register at the Volunteer Hub.
Wing Eating Contest
Come hungry and leave happy after competing in the Quaker Steak &
Lube wing-eating contest. The concept is simple – eat more wings in the
designated time period than anyone else. Register at the Volunteer Hub.
Muffler Rap Contest
Show off your power in the Muffler Rapping contest. A decibel meter
will be used as you put your machine into neutral and rev your engine.
In addition to the meter, a panel of judges will help determine who wins.
Register at the Volunteer Hub.
Burnout Contest
It’s always exciting to see who will pop their tires during the burnout
contest. Find out who’ll do it Saturday evening at 4 p.m. To enter the
contest, you must have a show sticker, driver’s license, insurance. Sign up
at the Volunteer Hub.
For the first time ever at the Bloomsburg Nationals, a demolition derby
will be held. The fun takes place at 5 p.m. on Saturday night and it’s
backed by JM Productions. Catch an entire show filled with speeding
cars and smashing metal, all in front of main grandstand.
The show is included with the cost of admission to the Bloomsburg
Nationals. It doesn’t matter if you purchase a vending space, showfield
space or gate ticket, if you’re onsite for the event, you’re onsite for the
demo derby. With thousands of dollars in prizes up for grabs, it should
be a great competition.

Live Music: Flamin’ Dick and the Hot Rods

Date Night
Carlisle Events celebrates its 40th Anniversary in 2014 and the movie
American Graffiti is honoring 40 years too. New this year is an event we’re
calling “Date Night” on Saturday. After enjoying the day’s numerous
activities and great displays, take time to relax with your loved one and
spend an evening together in front of our QS&L stage. A live band will
play classic oldies, perfect for dancing. Don’t forget to wear some periodcorrect clothing, as we will be picking our favorite couple to be part of a
special dance before we start our film.
After dancing the night away, sit back and relax with a special
screening of American Graffiti, also at the QS&L stage. There is no
additional fee for this activity. Of course, families and children are more
than welcome to attend as well.

PRESENTING SPONSOR
ONLY ONE THING LASTS LONGER THAN OUR COATINGS—
OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU.
When it comes to building durability, increasing performance or enhancing
appearance, PPG Refinish owns a track record of success no other company can
match. For nearly 100 years, we’ve delivered the automotive, commercial fleet
and light industrial coatings the world needs.
As the global leader in transportation and industrial coatings , we offer
the innovation, experience and stability your business needs. Every year, PPG
invests millions of dollars into research and development . We offer unmatched
comprehensive technical , process and professional training. Most importantly,
we are focused on the refinish industry, dedicated to the highest level of service
and quality. In an age of rapidly evolving technology, corporate realignments, and
emerging consumer trends, it ’s good to know one company embraces change—
without changing who they are. That’s PPG Refinish.
Having previously worked with a local hospital to host a similar version of this
event, the Dream Machines Motor Club has experience with car shows to say
the least. The group, chartered in August of 1991, is lead by President Jack Runge
and Vice President Tom Quick. Everyone associated with the Dream Machines
Motor Club has a common goal, to promote highway safety and work to help
local charities.
Historically, the Dream Machines Motor Club hosts one major event
annually with additional cruise-ins taking place monthly. The cruise-in dates are
usually the fourth Saturday of each month from April to September at the nearby
Columbia Mall parking lot and money realized during many of their outings goes
to select charities. Charities include Camp Victory, Salvation Army Children’s
Christmas, Special Olympics, Bloomsburg Fire Department and more. Details
on each cruise-in may be found by visiting www.thedmmc.org.
Anyone bitten by the automotive and/or charitable bug is encouraged to
be part of the Dream Machines Motor Club. Dues range from a minimum of
$20 per person to a minimum of $25 per family. Club membership ranges from
60-100 families, with many members showing their vehicles regionally and
locally.
The Dream Machines Motor Club is proud to be part of the Bloomsburg
Nationals powered by Carlisle Events weekend and invites current and prospective members to stop to visit them this weekend at the event as well as at their
monthly meetings, held the first Tuesday of each month at the Bloomsburg
Municipal Fire Hall.
Restaurant Partner
Preferred Host Hotel
Quaker Steak & Lube is a Pennsylvania-based restaurant chain that has locations
across North America. “The Lube,” as it’s affectionately known, emanated from
the western Pennsylvania town of Sharon and now can be found as far west as
Colorado, south to Florida and north into Toronto. The Bloomsburg location,
situated at 211 Columbia Mall Drive just off I-80, will serve as home base for
all things automotive and culinary during this weekend’s event. Visit Quaker
Steak & Lube online for location-specific specials, including a vast array of award
winning wings.
While in Bloomsburg this weekend, consider Quaker Steak & Lube as your
prime secondary location when not on grounds. Quaker Steak & Lube is a
sports bar with an automotive theme. This weekend, Bloomsburg’s QSL hosts
a Thursday (August 7) kick-off party from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. The kick-off party will
feature a live radio remote from Y106.5 FM and will also afford enthusiasts the
opportunity to register their show car for the fun field and the weekend’s event.
In addition to the kick-off party on Thursday, Quaker Steak & Lube sponsors
a wing eating contest, held on the grounds of the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds. The
gluttonous fun takes place Saturday beginning at 12:30 p.m. The contest is open
to anyone with an appetite for wings and a penchant competition. The person
who consumes the most wings will win bragging rights, while everyone else
earns the right to say they ate a lot of wings.
Partnering with Quaker Steak & Lube was a natural fit for Carlisle Events and
“The Lube.” QSL has hosted a Bike Night every Wednesday night at the
Bloomsburg location as well as its locations nationwide for some time. In
addition, the restaurant has a car on its roof. That in and of itself makes “The
Lube” your pit stop for automotive and culinary action anytime you find yourself
in Columbia County.
In 2012, Carlisle Events and the Econo Lodge of Bloomsburg inked a partnership to make the Econo Lodge the official host hotel of event weekend. In doing
so, the Econo Lodge, a Choice Hotels property, offered great perks which lead to
this weekend being near capacity for the location.
By using the Econo Lodge, attendees have a comfortable place to stay while
in the heart of Columbia County. The Econo Lodge is less than 4 miles from the
Bloomsburg Fairgrounds and offers special rates for show participants. Don’t
hesitate to reach out to the Econo Lodge to book a stay for next year’s event or
events in the region by calling (570) 387-0490.
The Econo Lodge, located at 189 Columbia Mall Dr. in Bloomsburg is pet
friendly and conveniently located just off I-80 at exit 232. In addition, the Econo
Lodge offers a FREE deluxe continental breakfast, FREE wireless internet, a
guest laundry facility and fitness center, in-room coffee. Most rooms offer a
refrigerator (some offer a microwave as well.) ample parking including space for
trucks, trailers and haulers of show cars and best of all, the Econo Lodge honors
thier 100% cleanliness satisfaction for each of its 80 rooms.
The AAA approved , Gold Award Winning Econo Lodge is rolling out the
red carpet for show goers this weekend. With a stay, patrons are eligible for a 10%
discount to Perkins and Quaker Steak & Lube restaurants. Econo Lodge will
also provide our guests with a 10% discount to Bloom Raceway & Hobbies that
you can stop in and use any time! Exclusively for event patrons only and while
supplies last, the Econo Lodge will host a complimentary hot dog roast!
Expect a cruise-in atmosphere in the parking lot and around the gazebo of
the Econo Lodge and an “at home” feeling all weekend long with a friendly staff
and comfortable rooms. Stop by to see what this special partnership is all about.
