Teachers will also be happy to answer any ques ons. The district level Oratorical Fes val is schedule for March 15 in Mooresville, NC and our local presenta ons are scheduled for March 2. We hope to distribute OCMC Mission boxes February 2nd. We hope all students will take a box this year and work on filling it up. These funds are used for such a worthy cause. Last year two of our own past students, N na Pappas and Tina Nystrom par cipated in a Mission Trip. It was great hearing about their visit and work. Our HDF par cipants also a ended a very informa ve presen‐ ta on by OCMC during their trip to Orlando. February 9th we will be celebra ng Godparent/Godchild Sunday. Students in grades K‐12 will not have Sunday School. Please remember to invite Godparents to share in this special day. Please remember to let your teacher or Bessie Epes know if you a ended Christmas Eve service. This service can be used as a make‐up day for perfect a endance awards. Please remember…. In order to parƟcipate in youth acƟviƟes outside of Sunday School (GOYA, Greek Dance, etc.), a child must aƩend greater than 55% of his or her classes. AƩendance will be taken and must be consistent throughout the school year. Divine Liturgy in another town can be counted. The form can be found at www.wsgoc.org. As always, we thank our parents for sharing their children with us and we hope that those who have not joined us in the past will consider doing so. We welcome any comments or concerns you may have. Have you turned in your Stewardship Card? Fr. James Katinas from Holy Cross Seminary will lead a presentation on “TRANSFORMED BY THE CROSS” on Saturday, March 1st 11:00am-1:00pm at our Church Breezeway. Sponsored by the Annunciation Library. 2014 STEWARDSHIP LIST Dear Ladies of Philoptochos, I want to thank Deacon Constantine for his wonderful presentation about the Diaconate in the Orthodox Church. We all learned a great deal about his role in the church and how lucky we are to have him here in our community. We will start packing lunches for HOPE. Saturday, February 8th will be our start date for this. Our committee will be meeting soon to also talk about baking Banana Bread for them to use in their lunches. If you are interested in helping with either packing the lunches or helping with the baking, please use our sign up sheet. We will have the sheet tacked up on the Philoptochos board located in the breezeway. We look forward to helping with this great outreach project. HOPE stands for HELP OUR PEOPLE EAT. It is a citywide effort. In March there will be a Philoptochos Spiritual Retreat at The Diakonia Center located in Salem, SC. The dates are March 21st – 23rd 2014. Cost is $150 and that includes lodging and meals. I would love to take a group of ladies from here. There will be many women from our Metropolis, and this would be a great way to meet new people, see some old friends and learn more about our services. They have some wonderful speakers invited, who I have heard already and I can tell you that you will be moved by their stories. If you are interested please let me know. As most of you know we did not Children’s Day last year and we are not sure if we will have again this year, due to school budgets being cut. It was suggested that to offset that income that we could have a separate fundraiser. So this year we will be taking preorders for Tiropitakia and Spanakopitakia, to be picked up the weekend of Palm Sunday. We will start taking preorders the first Sunday in February. Please pick up as many preorder forms and ask your neighbors and friends if they would like to purchase. Another thought would be to also sell Tsourekia for Palm Sunday also, that is if we can get enough women to help. Our next general meeting will be Wednesday, February 12th. Mrs. Samaras will be our guest speaker and she will demonstrate to us how to make Prosforo. Please do not miss this as I am sure many of us would love to learn how this is done. I wanted to take this opportunity to express my sincerest thanks to everyone who has helped to make the last couple of months a success for our youth programs here at Annunciation. The GOYANs , parents , coaches, advisors and chaperones all play a huge role in our programs. The Winter Youth Rally , Hellenic Dance Festival and Kalanda require a tremendous commitment from everyone associated with them. We participate in these events in order to provide our youth with opportunities to fellowship with one another and form relationships with youth from other communities . Our youth demonstrated hard work, sportsmanship and dedication in their practices and as they participated in sports, dance , singing and Bible Bowl. Our community has been supportive of our programs and we are blessed to have so many willing to give their time, talent and treasure for the benefit of our youth and community.
