TNNA Sale! - Baskets of Yarn!
TNNA Sale!
Gary & Patty are heading out for The National Needlearts Association Summer Trade Show
next month and we are giving you the opportunity to help us move some inventory out so
that we can buy you more great yarn to choose from! Patty has gone through the store and
put almost everything on sale that we no longer have enough skeins or colors to use for a
group project or class!
Buy 1 ball of sale yarn, get 10% off
Buy 2 balls of sale yarn, get 20% off
Buy 3 balls of sale yarn, get 30% off
Buy 4 balls of sale yarn, get 40% off
Buy 5 or more balls of sale yarn, get 50% off!
Balls/Skeins do not have to be the same color or type, and the discount applies only to
the “sale yarn”.
Knit Noro!
Wow! Our first shipment of the Knit Noro book sold out in 2 days. I called our sales
representative and asked if he could get us a dozen more because we were so in love with it
and, unbelievably, they came in Friday! We will most assuredly be doing classes out of this
book soon, but we aren’t going to hold any back. I did reserve one for our store copy this
time, but otherwise, we have all 11 available. This book is a joy to look at, even if you don’t
knit anything, but I dare you to buy it and not use it!
Classic Elite Cotton Bam Boo
This week’s issue of the newsletter from Classic Elite featured this child’s hat as their free
pattern. All I can say is “How cute is that!”
A savvy shopper has already snatched up all of the colorway used in the picture above, but
we have the three other colorways for Cotton Bam Boo that are beautiful as well.
Summer Kids Camps!
Betsey will be leading knit & crochet day camps again this summer during June and July at
Providence Day School. Sessions run Monday to Friday morning from 9:00am until
12:00pm. She is offering a variety of camps throughout the summer for children rising into
grades 2 - 6, and there will be something for everyone and plenty to keep young knitters and
crocheters busy all summer. Sign up for as many camps as you like! We can’t wait to be a
part of your summer fun! For complete schedules, details and to register for camps please
visit the website for Providence Day School.
Line Em Up Scarf
Next KAL scheduled for Tuesday, May 24th from 6 – 8 p.m! Come join Patty for our Rockin’ Tuesday
night Knit Night this week. We still have a few of these phenomenal Kollage Kits left and some really
great colors. Try your hand at cables or renew your love of them with this great, straightforward cable
scarf made out of Kollage Milky Way Yarn.
Liberty Wool
You fell in love with Molly last year when we first began getting in the Liberty Wool print colors.
Now it is time to fall in love with Elizabeth! I have always thought that this was the most beautiful pattern
in the book. With the shipment we will get in June, we will be at what I consider “critical mass” for this
sweater. The sweater takes between 10 – 13 balls to make and by June we should have 12 different
colorways that we have enough of to do this.
Here is the deal: The class price will be $125 and will include the yarn (priced at size large, we will
adjust class price up or down if you are not size large) and we will have 3 separate classes. You must
choose from the yarn we have in stock for this price to be valid. Our current stock of Liberty Wool is
$7.50 per skein but all new Liberty Wool that we order is coming in at $9.50 a skein!
The classes will cover gauge, choosing the appropriate size, basic rib stitch, slipped rib stitch, arm
shaping and finishing. We will have 3 classes, one in each month of August, September and October.
The final October class will go over finishing techniques, the maligned stepchild in knitting. That
finishing class will provide you with the techniques to make your sweater go from “home-made” to
“hand-made.” Class will be taught by Patty with special guest appearances from Nancy, our finishing
expert!
Prices are going UP, UP, UP!
We are trying to keep them DOWN, DOWN, DOWN!
Just as a point of interest for you, we have been hearing from almost all of our yarn vendors that prices
are going up. Most of the companies have already implemented the increases and all our current and
fall yarn will come in at the new prices. For example, we have been purchasing and selling the Liberty
Wool print yarn for $7.50 but the latest bag that we ordered came in at $9.50! These increases are
across the board and seem to have their orgins in the bad year in India for harvesting cotton, increased
oil prices (Acrylic is a petroleum based product) and just the overall cost of energy required for
harvesting/shearing/treating and transportation.
Baskets of Yarn will not change the price of the yarn that is in the store right now, unlike the gas
stations, you still get it at the price we bought it for! But we will have to increase the price on the new
yarn coming in. We will try to keep this from being too confusing since there may be two skeins of yarn
that appear to be identical but have different pricing.
On Our Needles...
On the needles this week is a summer sweater made with Kudo yarn from Plymouth. I have long been a lover of
this yarn and we have 7 different colorways in the store for you to choose from. Kudo is a worsted weight yarn
with 198 yards in each 100g skein and is made from 55% Cotton, 40% Rayon and 5% Silk. It is a dream to knit
with and a nice cool yarn for the summer. We also have this pattern available in the store and it is a great, top
down, EASY knit.
This week, all Kudo yarn will be 20% off!

Classes
Tunisian Entrelac Shawl - Utilizing Noro's Silk Garden yarn with its great color changes,
the "Motivated Heretic" is the Easiest Entrelac pattern that I have ever done.
The basic Tunisian Simple Stitch is all that is needed to make this shawl, plus the ability to count to 8, because 8
stitches is all you ever have on your needle! You are going to love this pattern and this beautiful shawl! This is
your last chance to sign up for Patty's last class this month, on Saturday 5/28 at 3pm.
The class price of $120 includes 9 skeins of Noro Silk Garden or Noro Kureyon (We have 5 colorways with 9 or
more skeins available in the store, or you can mix and match. Special orders can be made for a slight up-charge but
you want to get that order in soon!), and the book "Get Hooked on Tunisian Crochet" by Sheryl Thies (we can
provide a discount if you already have the book).
Instructor: Patty Frame
Sugar Maple Shawl - This fun & fast project produces a lacy, beautifully patterned wrap you'll
wear everywhere! If you've never done a lace pattern before then this is a great project to
learn on as the lace instructions are written out line by line for you!
Knitters should know knit & purl. Students will learn how to follow instructions row by row
for lace, decreases, yarn-overs & picking-up stitches. 5 balls of Malabrigo Chunky in your
selected color are included in the $80 class price. Students will need US 11 needles in
their choice of straight or circular and stitch markers. The class will begin at 1pm on
Saturday, June 4th.
Time is getting short to get your color selection ordered and to the store before class
starts. We've got a great group for this class already with only a few spots left, so get
on the list soon!
Instructor: Deana Hunt
Sasha Skirt - We have enough students signed up to finalize the start date for this class
as Tuesday, June 14th at 6pm. If you've been waiting for the schedule to solidify, not is
your best chance to make this fun ruffled skirt that will be a favorite for years to come!
You will be able to design your own color combination for this skirt as well as choose from
3 lengths! You can choose one to four colors for the ruffles and it can be a short, medium
or long length skirt! For this reason the class is priced at $100 to include 5 two
hour sessions and the pattern, but not the yarn.
Please come to the shop once you have registered to select the colors you would like to use! Depending on the
length and the color variation plan to spend between $100 and $200 for the Euroflax yarn. Also, when you pick
out your yarn, we will give you a sample of the yarn to make your gauge swatch before coming to the first class.
Instructor: Betsey Macholz
