This schedule is issued subject to the orders and regulations of the Welsh Government (WG) including
the Animal Health Act 1981 and Animal Gatherings (England and Wales) Orders 2010, whether in
relation to animal diseases or any other pertinent issue.

posted. Any entries received with no payment, will only be processed once payment has been received.

entry for that year.

TOCYNNAU A PHASIAU · TICKETS AND PASSES
Immediately, upon receipt of tickets and passes, exhibitors are requested to check that the allocation is
correct. No duplicate tickets or passes will be issued during the Show period free of charge.
i)
Exhibitor refunds and declaration of non-attendance
Any exhibitor who is unable to attend the event must inform the Society in writing by 24 June 2016, a
refund will then be issued. After this date, although no refund will be issued, exhibitors must still inform the
Livestock Office of their absence in writing. Any tickets and passes received must be returned, unused,
directly to the Livestock Office by 21 July 2016, with a receipt as proof of return.
Failure by any exhibitor to notify the Society of their absence in writing and return any tickets or
passes received may result in action being taken against that exhibitor. Under the terms of the
Society’s Disciplinary Procedure, any exhibitor who is found to have breached the Society’s rules
may be barred from exhibiting at future shows for a period of time.
ii)
If unable to compete during the event, due to animal injury.
Any exhibitor whose animal becomes injured whilst on the Showground and is unable to compete in its
class, must be certified by one of the Society’s vets. The Vets certificate MUST then be supplied to the
Livestock Office. Failure to adhere to these procedures may result in disciplinary action being taken as per
above.
iii) Refunds in exceptional circumstances.
The Society may issue a refund after 24 June 2016 in exceptional circumstances; the Society will consider
each case on its own particular merits. Any such refund would be subject to all tickets and passes being
returned to the Livestock Office no later than 15 July 2016, with a receipt as proof of return. Those who
post their tickets must do so by recorded delivery, with the proof of postage retained.

There are a mixture of single, twin, twin bunk, three bedded and shared single sex four bedded rooms
available. Exhibitors are restricted to booking one three bedded / two bedded rooms only or two single
rooms or two beds in a shared room. Please ensure that you mark on your entry form if you do not wish
to be accommodated in bunk beds.

There will be an additional charge for exhibitors who wish to stay on the
Saturday night (16 July). This includes a breakfast.
PEBYLL · TENTS
An exhibitor may purchase a tent pass for £40.00 (including VAT). Both Livestock and Horse exhibitors
tents will be situated in Upper North 12. Tents will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis. Please
note that tents can only be erected in the authorised area in Upper North 12. The Society will not be held
responsible for any accidents to person/s erecting tents in unauthorised areas, and any tents not erected
in Upper North 12 will be removed by the security. Please note that the Society considers a trailer tent to
be the same as a caravan, and as such anyone wishing to bring a trailer tent to the Show MUST book a
caravan plot on their entry form (Please refer to caravan booking for prices).

Exhibitors please be aware that space is limited in these areas and not all requests may be
accommodated. Also it will not be possible for all caravan plots to have an electrical hook-up, but exhibitors
will be informed of this and refunded £60 prior to the Show. Please stipulate if you do not wish to have an
electrical hook-up, and you will be accommodated in the North 12 caravan park at £90 per plot. Please
note that a camper van is considered the same as a caravan by the Society and, therefore, a caravan pass
should be ordered if you intend to bring a camper van to the Show.
With Health and Safety/Fire Regulations having to be rigorously administered, exhibitors MUST state on
their remittance form if their vehicle will be used for accommodation during the Show. There will not be a
fee for exhibitors using their vehicles for accommodation. Exhibitors are restricted to one caravan plot
only per address. Exhibitors entering carcasses only are not permitted to book a caravan plot. Exhibitors
requiring caravan plots are requested to submit their entries in good time as these are very limited and will
be allocated on a first come first served basis.
All vehicles and caravans used for accommodation must be parked 2.5 metres apart to meet current fire
regulations. All caravans and other vehicles used for accommodation MUST carry a suitable fire
extinguisher (5-kilo dry powder type).
Horse Exhibitors only – A caravan will not be admitted onto the Livestock Hill if it is being towed
by a lorry.
CYRRAEDD · ARRIVAL
No Horses will be allowed onto the Showground before 12.00 noon, Saturday, 16 July.
All vehicles will be inspected upon arrival.
The Livestock Gate, Entrance C (Livestock entries only, not including horses) will be open for the arrival
and inspection of vehicles and their stock at the following times: Saturday

TALIADAU YMGEISIO · ENTRY FEES
Please see the beginning of the Livestock Schedule for the entry fees. There are no entry fees for
special awards and no prize money is payable except where individually offered.
If entries are withdrawn in writing prior to Friday, 24 June, £2.35 of the entry fee will be withheld to cover
printing costs. Please note that under HOYS conditions, for those classes that carry a HOYS Qualifier,
the HOYS entry fee of £12.00 cannot be refunded.
As a condition of entry to the Show, all exhibitors must have Public and Products Liability Insurance cover
for a minimum of £2,000,000. Proof of cover to be provided on request during the entry process.
TALIADAU STABL · STABLE FEES
A fee of £30.00 (including VAT) will be charged per stable, per night. As stables are limited, not all
exhibitors can be accommodated. Exhibitors will be informed accordingly. Stables are allocated on a first
come, first serve basis. Exhibits must be stabled in the box allocated. All stables must be vacated by 7.00
pm daily to enable them to be prepared in readiness for the next day's exhibitors. However, the next day's
exhibitors will not be allowed to enter the stables until 7.30 pm daily. For example, if an exhibitor was
showing on Tuesday, they would require a Monday stable which would accommodate the equine from
7.30 pm Monday until 7.00 pm Tuesday.
The Society provides an alternative stabling arrangement for any entries that it cannot accommodate
on the Showground. The stabling site is called Wernfawr and is a mile away from the Showground. All
necessary facilities are provided and the stable fee at the site is £25.00 (including VAT) per stable, per
night. Exhibitors must complete the relevant section of the entry form to confirm whether they wish to be
considered for the Wernfawr stabling site.
Stables are to be used for equines only. In cases of emergency, the Society will not be held responsible
for the equines if they have to be let out of their stables.
If exhibitors use stables that have not been booked, paid for or allocated to them, they will be barred from
booking stables for a period deemed appropriate. Stables are not transferable between
exhibitors. The Society reserves the right to re-allocate stables at its discretion. Stable fees may be
refunded if cancelled, in writing and received before Friday, 24 June. No stable fees will be refunded
after this date.
Any horse that qualifies for the Ridden, In-Hand or Driving Championships (Thursday, 21 July 2016) may,
at the discretion of the Assistant Honorary Director of Horses, receive a stable free of charge for the
night(s) required. The Exhibitor MUST gain a permission slip from the Assistant Honorary Director of
Horses in the Main Ring Control Tower once they have qualified for the Championships, and supply this
to the Society’s Horse Foreman in order to gain their stable.
CYRRAEDD · ARRIVAL
Exhibits should arrive no later than two hours before the scheduled judging time.
No exhibit/horse exhibitor will be allowed onto the Showground before 12.00 noon, Saturday 16 July. A
holding area will be provided from 11.00am Saturday, 16 July. We advise all exhibitors that they do not
arrive prior to 11.00am, Saturday 16 July. All exhibits may be subject to veterinary inspections.
All vehicles will be inspected upon arrival. Any vehicle displaying a “vehicle towing horses” pass and not
carrying horses shall be turned away from the Showground.
Horse exhibitors showing for one or two days will receive day vehicle passes for the day(s) concerned
only. Such passes are valid from 6.00pm on the night prior to showing until 7.00pm on the day of showing.
YMADAWIAD · DEPARTURE
Will be permitted after judging if the exhibit is not taking part in a Main Ring Parade.
SAFON GWISG · STANDARD OF DRESS
Please note that any judges, stewards, exhibitors or grooms deemed to be inappropriately attired
will be prohibited from entering the Show rings (Men should wear a shirt and tie and women should
be classically dressed). No reference to stud names etc should be visible on any clothing. No refund will
be issued to any exhibitor who is unable to compete due to being turned away for poor attire. Anyone
riding an equine anywhere on the Showground must wear a hat to British Standard specification
appropriate to the relevant Section in which they are exhibiting.
TYWYSWYR · HANDLERS
All handlers must be a minimum of 14 years old on the first day of the Show for the judging of all the
in-hand horse classes and to lead a horse/pony down the horsewalk and for the Main Ring parades. All
persons leading a horse into the ring must walk and not trot or gallop; failure to comply with this rule may
result in your exhibit being disqualified from judging.
GORYMDAITH Y PRIF GYLCH · MAIN RING PARADE
The first three prizewinners in each class MUST parade as shown below; other prizewinners have the
option to parade. Any exhibitor who ignores this rule will forfeit his/her prize money. Exhibitors MUST
hand in their parade card to the designated steward when lined up in the parade. All handlers must be a
minimum of 14 years old on the first day of the Show for the Main Ring parades.
If any exhibitor feels they have a valid reason to be excused from the parade, they MUST complete a proforma in the Main Ring Control Tower, outlining their reason for not parading. The Assistant Honorary
Director - Horses, Mr Chris Davies, will then approve or decline the exhibitors request following the Show.

This is a qualifier for the Cuddy Supreme In-Hand Championship, N.E.C., Birmingham, 5- 9 October
2016. The objective of the competition is to find the supreme light horse or pony in-hand champion of the
year, irrespective of breed or type (excluding heavy horses).The Champion horse or pony from each of
the following sections will be eligible to compete, provided it has not already won a qualifying round in
2016.
Eligible breeds: Welsh Ponies & Cobs (Sections A, B, C & D), Hunters Breeding, Show Hunter Ponies
Breeding, Riding Ponies Breeding, Welsh Part-Bred, Shetlands, Palominos, Sport Horse Breeding and
Coloured Horses and Ponies.
If the Champion has already qualified or is ineligible, then the reserve champion of that section may
come forward, provided it has not already qualified and is eligible. If both Champion and Reserve
Champion have already qualified or are ineligible then the section will not be represented in this
qualifying round. Foal champions are not eligible.
Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office. No prize money will be paid out at this
Show, but will be forwarded by Grandstand Media Ltd after Horse of the Year Show 2016.

The 2016 RWAS Horse Young Handler Competition will encompass all four Welsh Sections and the
Welsh Part-Bred Section. No stallions or mares with a foal will be permitted. All horses in this
competition MUST be registered with the Welsh Pony & Cob Society and be entered into one of the
showing classes in order to compete. The purpose of the competition is to find the best Young Handler
from competitors in the four Welsh Breeds and the Welsh Part-Bred section.
A preliminary round will be held in the Horse Ring at 4.30 pm on Tuesday, 19 July 2016.
Competitors must enter this competition by the closing date of entries, 27 April 2016 stating their
date of birth. No entry fee is required. All eligible handlers must declare their intent to compete in the
Competition to the declarations steward in the Horse Foreman’s Hut, by 12 noon on Tuesday 19 July
2016, where they will be supplied with a number and an arm band, which must be worn prior to entering
the ring. Those competitors not wearing an armband, or who fail to declare will not be permitted to enter
the competition regardless of whether they had entered on their entry form.
The Competition will be split into two age categories - 14-16 years of age and 17-19 years of age by the
first day of the Show. The judges will choose the top four young handlers from each age category
without giving the final placings. This will result in eight finalists going forward to the Championship. Each
finalist will receive a WPCS Bronze Rosette. The eight finalists will be judged at 11.30 am Thursday, 21
July 2016 in the Main Ring. Exhibitors MUST show the same horse in the final as that used during the
preliminary judging. The judge will choose the Champion Young Handlers in both age categories, who
will then compete for the Overall Championship.
All eight finalists are encouraged to take part in the Grand Parade following the final judging.

This competition is for Working Hunters, any weight, mares, geldings or stallion (competing stallions
must have a red, white and blue ribbon displayed in their tail) four years old or over, exceeding 148cm,
to be ridden. Any horse which has qualified as a Grade A Show Jumper or Advanced Event Horse as at
1 January in the current year is not eligible to compete in Working Hunter classes. All Riders, Owners
and Producers must be Members of the British Show Horse Association. Horses must be registered with
the British Show Horse Association.
Fences will not exceed 1.14m (3ft 9ins) in height, there should be a minimum of 8 fences and a
maximum of 12 fences. The course must contain a combination and should contain a water tray. This
class will be judged in two parts. Part One (Jumping) will be judged first, without a jump-off. All clear
rounds and any other horses the judges may require will go forward to the next part. A rider can ride up
to two horses in the jumping phase but then must select only one horse to take forward into the ride and
conformation section if so required (no change of rider is allowed).

This section is affiliated to the British Show Pony Society, and all persons entering, competing,
showing or otherwise taking part in these classes are subject to the rules of the B.S.P.S.,
including the disciplinary procedure, and shall be deemed to have consented to the jurisdiction
of the B.S.P.S.
Classes are restricted to mares and geldings. Mares with a living foal, born during the current
season, are barred from these classes. Stallions are barred. Ponies MUST be four year old or
over.
No change of saddlery is allowed between phases or during a phase. See rule 50. No whip to
exceed 75 cm. Hind Boots are not permitted in any class. Over-Reachboots of a plain colour,
may be used for phase 1. No bandages or protective pads or gel pads on pony's legs or feet are
permissible.
No spurs allowed. Snaffle bridles are permitted.
No competitor may ride more than one pony in any class.
The BSPS Office will supply rosettes and mark sheets to all affiliated Shows. All judges are

CONCOURS CLASS, driven by a lady or a gentleman.
For the Champion Concours d'Elegance exhibit.
The Concours d'Elegance is designed to establish the most elegant turnout. The essence of the
competition is the word 'elegance' and the winner will be the turnout, which, in the opinion of the judge
presents the most elegant effect. This will obviously include horse, driver, passenger, etc. but above all
the general impression. It is judged from a distance and vehicles are NOT closely inspected as in
ordinary show classes. The whole object of the class is to establish which turnout presents the most
pleasing picture and normal judging criteria does not apply.
Attention may well be paid to drivers' and passengers' personal attire, but a fancy dress or period
costume is definitely barred. From the above it will be seen that the requirements are quite different from
those governing the ordinary show classes, and turnouts which may do well in ordinary classes will not
necessarily succeed in this competition. Horse, harness and vehicles will not be subject to the detailed
inspection required in show classes, nor will performance be judged except in so far as that a very poor
performance may render an exhibitor 'inelegant'.

All stallions entering these classes must be graded with CHAPS (UK). All Stallions must wear Stallion ID
Discs in the ring without exception. (No ungraded stallions will be allowed to compete in the ring in this
section). This Show is affiliated to the Coloured Horse & Pony Society (UK). Both owner and the
rider/exhibitor need not be a member of CHAPS (UK) nor must the horse or pony be registered with
CHAPS (UK) to compete. However in order to qualify both Owner and Rider / Exhibitor need to be a
current showing member and present their valid qualifier card IN THE RING for signing by the judge.
Members to apply in writing to CHAPS (UK) for appropriate qualifier card. The CHAPS (UK)
Championship Show will be held on 31 August to 3 September 2016. Shows held on or after date of

Side Saddle International offer a rosette to the Adult Member and Manor Grange Stud Show

S.349 *SIR LANCELOT MEMORIAL TROPHY QUALIFIER – A Special rosette will be offered to the
Adult Member, carrying their current Championship Points Card, of the SSA Area in which the
Show is organised, who during the Equitation Qualifier Class (irrespective of final placing) is
judged to be the most elegant. That member will be eligible to compete in the Final for the Sir
Lancelot Memorial Trophy (donated by the late Mrs E. Skelton) at the National Side Saddle
Show. A Member may only qualify once per season between one National Show and the next,
and if the Judge’s first choice has already qualified, the rosette will be awarded to the next
eligible competitor. (Class 345)

The sole criterion for this class 351 is the elegance of the picture presented by horse and rider. Attention
may be paid to the rider’s personal appearance but detailed inspection of rider or tack is not required.
Fancy dress or period costume is not permitted. Competitors are required to walk, trot and canter. No
individual show is required, but the Judge may ask groups of 3 or 4 riders to give short displays. 4
Special rosettes will be awarded to the highest placed Adult Members wearing a silk hat, bowler hat,
safety hat and the highest placed Junior Member of the SSA carrying their current Championship Points
Cards. N.B. Silk hats are permitted to be worn by Adults in class 351 at any time of day. Juniors MUST
wear hats to current British Safety standards or above for this class. Adult riders not wearing such hats
do so at their own risk.

RETRAINING OF RACEHORSES

Classes are run under RoR rules. To be judged on Monday 18 July
All entries must be registered with RoR and include their registration number on entry form and have
RACED in GB. All riders must be 15 years or over by 1 January 2016. Horses to be ridden in any
suitable bridle and should be plaited. All those entering horses and/or participating in the show agree to
be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses Rules and Regulations from time to time in force’. Please be
aware that the show will split the class on the horse’s last run in a race (NH or Flat) or will provide 2 ride
judges should the entries exceed 20. Please mark your entry form accordingly. Competitors must wear a
safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap.
The Show has taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For
these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent
accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the Organisers and all the Officials and Stewards.

PHASE 2
Class returns without boots and judged for an individual show/conformation. (In some classes, at the
judge’s discretion, horses might be asked to do a ‘show’ following their jumping without leaving the
ring. This is often the case with a large number in the class)
Each horse to complete an individual show of no longer than 1 ½ minutes. Show to include the following
movements:
Walk, Trot, canter showing change of leg, extended canter (gallop) halt and stand, walk off on long
rein. Total marks out of 30% for Show, manners and suitability to be retrained.
Fences for the final at Royal Windsor can be up to a maximum of 3’6”

DEFINITION OF CLASSES AT THE SOCIETY'S SHOW AND REGULATIONS GOVERNING
THE SAME
No variations to the rules and regulations will be enforceable unless made in writing
by the Society.

PENALTY FOR BREAKING RULES
The Board of Directors reserves the right to bar from exhibiting, either in person or through
a nominee or agent, any exhibitor, who, in the opinion of the Board, contravenes or has
contravened any of the Society's Rules, Regulations or Conditions or who has been
disqualified or prohibited from exhibiting or has been fined or otherwise dealt with under
the said Rules, Regulations and Conditions, for such period as it shall think fit.
The Board of Directors may refuse to accept an entry without giving any reason for such
refusal. Should any member or exhibitor conduct himself or herself in an improper or
offensive manner on the Showground or if it be proven to the satisfaction of the Board of
Directors (or of any official of the Society to which the Board has delegated such
responsibility) that any member or exhibitor has attempted to mislead the Society by any
form of misrepresentation whatsoever or has failed to provide a satisfactory explanation
for a failure to produce an exhibit duly entered for a Show or has violated any of the Rules
or Regulations of the Society then, and in any such case, the Board of Directors may
decline to allow the member concerned to renew his or her membership or the exhibitor
concerned to exhibit at any future Show of such period as the Board of Directors may in
its absolute discretion determine and may forfeit any prize or prize money of such exhibitor.
EXHIBITS NOT FORWARD FOR JUDGING
Any exhibitor who is unable to attend the event, must inform the Society in writing by 24th
June, a refund will then be issued. After this date, although no refund will be issued,
exhibitors must still inform the Livestock Office of their absence in writing. Any tickets and
passes received must be returned directly to the Livestock Office by 21st July 2016 with a
receipt as proof of return.
Failure by any exhibitor to notify the Society of their absence in writing and return
any tickets or passes received, may result in action being taken against that
exhibitor. Under the terms of the Society’s Disciplinary Procedure, any exhibitor
who is found to have breached the Society’s rules may be barred from exhibiting at
future shows for a period of time
Any Exhibitor whose animal becomes injured whilst on the Showground and is unable to
compete in its class, must be certified by one of the Society’s vets. The vets certificate
MUST then be supplied to the Livestock Office. Failure to adhere to these procedures may
result in disciplinary action being taken as per above.
The Society may issue a refund after 24th June 2016 in exceptional circumstances, which
the Society will decide upon, each case on its own merits. Any such refund would be
subject to all tickets and passes being returned to the Livestock Office no later than 15th
July 2016, with a receipt as proof of return. Those who post their tickets must do so by
recorded delivery with the
proof of postage retained.
OPEN CLASSES
Open classes are for exhibitors and exhibits residing in any part of the European
Community subject to all quarantine regulations being satisfactory.
Please see the beginning of each section for the regulations relating to the import and
export of farmed livestock or equines.

Extra classes are provided to meet special conditions which could not be applied to open
classes generally. Animals entered in an extra class may also be entered in open classes,
where eligible, upon payment of the relevant entry fee.
SPECIAL CLASSES
All cups, trophies and awards are offered at this Society's Show subject to the following
conditions:Should an exhibit become ineligible for a class prize either:(a)
by direct disqualification on protest sustained by the Board of Directors, or
(b)
automatically through failing to comply with the Society's Rules and
Regulations as to foaling, calving, lambing, farrowing, etc such exhibit will also be
disqualified from the award of any special prize relating to such class.
No prize money will be awarded for special classes unless printed under the relevant
section in the
Livestock Schedule.
CHALLENGE CUPS AND PERPETUAL TROPHIES
All Society owned trophies will remain in the Society’s trophy display room in the Clwyd
Glamorgan Hall. The name of the winner will be engraved on the trophies following the
Show. Each winner will receive a bespoke Society memento, to be collected from the
Clwyd Glamorgan Hall, at which time the engraving instructions for the trophy MUST be
supplied.
NON-SOCIETY CUPS, TROPHIES AND AWARDS
All cups, trophies and awards which are not the responsibility of the Society are marked *.
Non Society cups, trophies and awards will no longer have the winner's name engraved
on by the Society. It will be the responsibility of the winner to carry out any necessary
engraving.
AWARDS OFFERED
Only the signed awards of the Judges will be accepted by the Society as evidence that a
prize has been awarded and the production of a prize or rosette by the exhibitor will not
entitle him or her to a prize.
Results sheets will not be displayed until the end of judging.
REGULATIONS AS TO THE PAYMENT OF PRIZE MONEY
The Society will send out all the prize money (Where BACS details have been provided)
via BACS. The prize money, where there is no dispute in accordance with the terms of the
Rules & Regulations, will be paid out within two months of the Show. Any outstanding
accounts due to the Society may be set-off against any prize money or other amount owed
to the exhibitor.
FORFEITURE OF PRIZE MONEY
Any infringement of any Rule, Regulation or Condition, will render the exhibitor liable to a
fine of £50 by the Stewards, and to the forfeiture by order of the Board of Directors, of any
prize he or she may be entitled to.
POWER TO CANCEL AWARDS
Any person who shall have been shown, to the satisfaction of the Board of Directors, to
have been excluded from exhibiting for prizes at the exhibition of the Society, in
consequence of having been convicted of any attempt to obtain a prize by giving a false
certificate, or by other unfair means, shall not be allowed to compete for any prizes offered
by the Society at any of its Shows, until otherwise decided by the Board of Directors.
If, through any evasion, such person shall make an entry and obtain an award, the Board
of Directors shall have power to cancel such award and withhold the prize money.
Any person who has been disqualified from exhibiting for prizes at the exhibition of any
Society, under the preceding condition, shall not be allowed to act as agent, representative
or servant of any exhibitor at any of the Society's future Shows, until otherwise decided by
the Board of Directors.

CANCELLATION OF CLASSES
(a)
The Board of Directors reserves the right to cancel or transfer any section or class
if they deem there to be insufficient entries. In the event of any class or section being
cancelled entrants therein will be notified as soon as possible after the closing date of
entries and their fees will be returned.
(b)
If, at the discretion of the Society, two or more dairy breeds are amalgamated owing
to insufficient entries, a Champion in each individual breed will be chosen.
(c)
The Society reserves the right, at their discretion, to amalgamate classes, as
appropriate, which they deem to have insufficient entries.
REGULATIONS AS TO PROTESTS
A protest must be lodged in writing within an hour of the class being judged and handed to
a senior member of the RWAS staff at the Headquarters Office, together with a deposit fee
of £50.00 per individual objector. If, on investigating, the protest is not sustained to the
satisfaction of the Protest Committee, then the deposit may be forfeited to the funds of the
Society.
The Protest Committee would consist of the Show Director, Assistant Honorary Director
concerned, the Chief or Senior Steward concerned and the Chairman of the Livestock
Committee.
FINAL DECISION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Board of Directors reserves, to themselves, the right of determining all disputed cases
as to disqualifications, discipline, etc. and the decision of the Board of Directors shall be
final.
PAYMENT OF ENTRY FEES
All entries must be accompanied by entry fees and any entries in which these and the
following conditions are not observed will not be accepted. Cheques and postal orders
should be made payable to the "Royal Welsh Agricultural Society Ltd" and crossed "Not
Negotiable".
Any outstanding accounts due to the Society may result in that exhibitor's tickets and
passes being subsequently withheld. If a payment cheque for entries is returned from the
bank, the Society MAY cancel the relevant exhibitors entry for that year.
TICKET ENTITLEMENT
Exhibitor ticket entitlement for the HORSE section:Horse exhibitors will receive one more ticket than horses entered on any day, up to a
maximum of five tickets per day. For example, an exhibitor with two horses, one showing
on Monday and one showing on Tuesday, will receive four one day tickets; two tickets for
the horse shown on the Monday and two tickets for the horse shown on the Tuesday.
Additional adult one-day tickets may be purchased at £23.00 (including VAT) each and additional
child one-day tickets may be purchased at £5.00 (including VAT).

MEMBERSHIP PRIVILEGES
No member of the Society will be accorded the concession of making entries at the reduced
fees unless his or her membership subscription for that year has been paid by 1st February.
The Society will accept Applications for Membership following this date, however, all
Applications must be accompanied by: Cash/Cheque in respect of 2016 Membership Subscription.
Fully completed Direct Debit Instruction (used to arrange payment of Membership
Subscription on 1st February in subsequent years).
ENTRY CONDITIONS - SPECIAL PRIZES
No entrance fee is charged to a member or non-member for a special prize, championship
prize or challenge cup, but no exhibit can be entered to compete for a special prize,
championship prize or challenge cup, unless already entered in a class for which an entry
fee is chargeable. No prize money will be awarded for special prizes unless printed under
the relevant section in the schedule.
CLOSING DATE OF ENTRIES
27th April 2016
Particular attention is directed to the fact that dates stipulated for the closing date of entries
will be very strictly adhered to. Late entries will NOT be accepted.
COMPLETION OF ENTRY FORMS
Entry forms may be obtained from the RWAS Office. To prevent any inconvenience and
delay, applicants for entry forms are requested to name the kind of stock they are
proposing to enter. No stock will be accepted for exhibition unless the certificate of entry,
filled in upon the official entry form, completed and signed by the owner in the manner
directed and shall have been delivered to the RWAS Office or sent (postage paid) direct
to the same on or before the closing date of entries.
ELIGIBILITY OF ENTRIES
All exhibitors and exhibits must be registered with their respective Breed Society. All
horses, except for foals, entered in Sections requiring them to be registered, should be
formally registered, with the registration number supplied by the closing date of entries
(27th April 2016)
RESPONSIBILITY OF EXHIBITORS
Exhibitors are alone responsible for the accuracy and eligibility of their entries. Entry
fees are not returnable to an exhibitor who enters an animal in a class for which it is
ineligible or for entries which are withdrawn after the date of entry has expired.
Exhibitors are expected to behave responsibly at all times, any irresponsible misconduct
or abuse of Health and Safety regulations by exhibitors to their exhibits, or towards any
Society stewards will be dealt with as defined in the current Livestock Rules &
Regulations (1, 10, 13, 65 & 66). All exhibitors should note the Management of Health
and Safety at Work Regulations 1992, which requires co-operation and co-ordination
between all exhibitors and the RWAS. The requirements on both are to carry out
adequate risk assessments covering the work to be done. It is then necessary to
implement any procedures as required by the above legislation, and also inform all those
concerned of these assessments and procedures.
Animals which are known to be wild or fractious by nature must not be brought to the
Showground.
Animals which are subject to restrictions under the Animal Health Act 1981 (as amended)
or the Animal and Animals Products (Import and Export) (England and Wales)
Regulations 2000 will not be allowed onto the Showground.
Exhibitors in all sections (except goats) are not permitted to enter an animal in any class,
which is to be judged by a person who has or had a financial or other interest in the animal,
or which has stood in his or her yard. Exhibitors should adhere to the specific rules of their
relevant breed society on this matter, where such rules are available. The onus of
complying with this regulation rests entirely on the exhibitor.
In all Interbreed
Championships the onus rests on the exhibitor to stand down if the interbreed judge has
or had a financial or other interest in the animal or if it has stood in his or her yard.

DATES OF BIRTH
The ages of the cattle are (except where otherwise specified) calculated to the first day of
the Show, but horses, sheep and pigs will be duly classified by the age estimated from 1st
January in each year (thus a foal born at any period in 2015 becomes a yearling on the 1st
January 2016). The exact date of birth of each animal must, wherever possible, be stated
on the entry form, in order that the judges may take the actual ages into consideration in
deciding upon the relative merits of the animals in each class.
PROPERTY OF EXHIBITORS
Every exhibit must at the closing date of entries be the bona fide property of the
person or persons in whose name(s) the entry appears in the catalogue, except in
the case of an animal contractually leased or on hire, or by prior special permission
of the Board of Directors and must remain so until the end of the show.
SUBSTITUTIONS
An exhibitor who has made an entry of horses, cattle, sheep, pigs or goats in a particular
class, will be permitted, up to the 1st June, to withdraw the entry of such animal and to
substitute for it an entry of another animal in the same class which was his or her bona fide
property at the time of his or her original entry. The additional fee will be £1.00 for each
substituted entry.
No substitutions will be accepted after 1st June (except as provided for under Rules &
Regulations 26 below).
SPECIAL SUBSTITUTIONS
In the event of any animal duly entered for the Society's Show becoming ineligible for
exhibition as a consequence of restrictions imposed by the National Assembly for Wales
Agricultural Department, the Board of Directors reserves the right to allow the owner of
such animal to substitute another one for it. In the event of substitution after the Official
Catalogue has gone to press, full particulars of the substituted animal shall be displayed
on its box, stall or pen.
CONTAGIOUS DISEASES
Any livestock exhibitor shall pay to the Society for any costs incurred for liquidated
damages if any animal which he or she exhibits is, to his or her knowledge, suffering from

any contagious or infectious disease, and for each and every such animal if more than
one.
STOCK FOR SALE
Exhibitors are invited to indicate on the entry form whether the entry is offered for sale.
This information will appear in the Official Catalogue.
CORRECTNESS OF ENTRY
Every exhibitor shall prove the correctness of his or her certificate of entry to the
satisfaction of the Stewards if and when called upon by them to do so.
Failing to furnish the required proof, he or she may be prohibited from exhibiting. Any
prize, if awarded, may be withheld and the award cancelled.
Any animal found at the Show incorrectly ear marked will be removed from the
Showground.
Exhibitors should note that in the event of a dispute the Society reserves the right to carry
out DNA testing.
CORRECTNESS OF CLASS ENTRY
The judges, with the sanction of the Stewards, will withhold prizes from exhibitors whose
animals are entered in the wrong class, but if an exhibitor can prove to the satisfaction of
the Stewards who can refer to the original entry form, filed in the Livestock Office on the
Showground, that an entry has been catalogued in the wrong class through a clerical error
of the staff or through a printer's error, the Stewards are empowered to have such exhibit
judged in the class intended by the exhibitor.
PROOF OF ENTRY
No exhibits will be received at the gate unless the official entry document is shown as proof
of entry.
ADMISSION TICKETS
Exhibitors must show their exhibitors admission ticket each time they enter the
Showground. No-one shall be allowed to enter the Showground without the correct tickets
and passes. The exhibitor will be responsible for the proper use of the tickets and passes
issued to his or her attendants. In case of transfer, or other improper use of a ticket or
pass, the exhibitor may be required to pay a fine of £30.00 for each case during the event
or be referred to the Society’s Disciplinary Panel following the Show.
CONDITIONS OF ADMITTANCE
Persons are admitted to the Showground at their own risk and vehicles and their
accessories and contents are admitted to and left in the Show car parks at the owner's
risk, and, while every endeavour is taken to ensure the safety thereof, the Society will not
(save for death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the Society, its servants or
agents) be responsible for personal injury (whether fatal or otherwise) loss of or damage
to property and any other loss, damage, costs and expenses however caused.
CAR PARKING CONDITIONS
Persons are admitted entry to the Show car parks at their own risk and vehicles and their
accessories and contents are admitted to and left in the Show car parks at the owner's
risk, and, while every endeavour is taken to ensure the safety thereof, the Society will not
(save for death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the Society, its servants or
agents) be responsible for personal injury (whether fatal or otherwise), loss of or damage
to property and any other loss, damage, costs and expenses however caused.
Caravans and other vehicles used for accommodation - With Health and Safety/Fire
Regulations having to be rigorously administered this year, exhibitors MUST state on their
remittance form if their vehicle will be used for accommodation during the show. There will
not be a fee for exhibitors using their vehicles for accommodation.

Exhibitors requiring caravan plots are requested to submit their entries in good
time as these are very limited and will be allocated on a first come first served
basis.
All vehicles and caravans used for accommodation must be parked 2.5 metres apart
to meet current fire regulations. All caravans and other vehicles used for
accommodation MUST carry a suitable fire extinguisher (5-kilo dry powder type).
Horse Exhibitors only – A caravan will not be admitted onto the Livestock Hill if it is
being towed by a lorry.
ARRIVAL ON THE SHOWGROUND
Livestock Gate will be opened for stock at 9.00 am Saturday 16th July.
Horse Hill will be opened for horses at 12.00 noon Saturday 16th July
All vehicles will be inspected on arrival. Any vehicle displaying a "vehicle towing
horses" pass and not carrying horses shall be turned away from the Showground. Horse
exhibitors entering six or more horses will receive a second vehicle towing horses’ pass
free of charge.
Any exhibitor who arrives after the stipulated arrival times shall at the Society’s
discretion be barred from showing for a period deemed appropriate by the Society’s
Board of Directors.
DEPARTURE OF EXHIBITS AFTER THE SHOW
Departure of all exhibits is referred to at the commencement of each section and these
times will be strictly adhered to. Any defaulters will be listed and entry may be refused the
following year with prize money withheld. Any defaulter will hold the right to appeal. The
Society reserves the right to alter the departure times as necessary. However exhibitors
would be informed of any changes.
WITHDRAWAL FROM THE SHOWGROUND
No animal can be removed from its place without recommendation from the Chief Sectional
Steward or Society's Veterinary Officer nor can any animal be taken out of the Showground
without a permit in writing, from the Secretary.
POWER TO REMOVE ANIMALS
The Stewards, on the recommendation of the Society's Veterinary Officers shall have the
power to remove from the Showground any unruly, vicious, deformed or diseased animals,
and also the stock implements, or miscellaneous articles belonging to any exhibitor who
refuses to comply with the instructions given to them by the Stewards without any
responsibility attaching to them or to the Society in consequence of such removal.
TRANSIT OF ANIMALS - WELFARE OF ANIMALS (TRANSPORT) ORDER 1997
It is an offence to transport an animal likely to give birth during transit. The owner or his or
her agent shall not permit such an animal to be loaded.
EMERGENCY VETERINARY TREATMENT
In the event that an exhibitor cannot be found at any time and his or her animal/s have
been found to be sick, the Society's Veterinary Officers may, on their own authority, give
to any animal such emergency treatment at the cost of the exhibitor as they consider
appropriate even if the exhibitor is not present at the time. Stewards may remove any
animal to an isolation box if it is necessary.
In the event of an animal dying or having to be destroyed, any costs incurred for its
disposal will be paid at the discretion of the Society.
HAY
Exhibitors are required to provide their own hay.
GREEN FODDER
Green fodder will be supplied free of charge. It will be necessary for exhibitors to make
their own arrangement for the supply of any corn, meal, cake or other feeding stuffs which
they may require.

MANGERS AND FEEDING TROUGHS
Exhibitors are at liberty to send any kind of food their stock may require, in which case the
necessary troughs, etc. for holding the same must also be sent. Feeding troughs for
horses, cattle, sheep, pigs and goats must be provided by the exhibitors.
STRAW
No straw will be delivered on Thursday 21st July. Any straw remaining on the
Showground after 6.00 pm on the last day of the Show, whether supplied by the
Society or brought by the exhibitor, shall be considered the property of the Society.
Sufficient straw only for litter for the conveyances, horse boxes or cattle wagons
carrying the stock from the Show will be allowed to be taken from the Showground.
STRAW SUPPLY
Arrangements for the supply of straw will be made available by the commencement of
the show.
NO SMOKING
No smoking will be allowed in or near horse boxes, stock buildings, lines, tents, shedding
for exhibits or forage, in the Showground. No smoking will be allowed by judges, exhibitors
or stewards whilst in the judging rings.
COOKING AND SLEEPING
No cooking will be allowed in the stock buildings or lines.
STOCKMENS' ACCOMMODATION - NEUADD HENLLAN
Neuadd Henllan will be available for use by cattle, sheep, pig and goat exhibitors. Each
room has two or four beds. The beds cannot be reserved for individual night bookings.
The fee is payable at the time of entry and requests will be dealt with in date of receipt
order. Beds will be limited to a maximum of two per exhibitor. The number of beds
available will be limited to forty four. These will be allocated as follows:Cattle - eighteen places
Sheep - eighteen places
Goats - four places
Pigs - four places
Linen, duvets and pillows will be provided. The facilities in the block are for residents
ONLY. If a changeover occurs in one room by stockpersons during the week, the keys
MUST be given to the wardens. All exhibitors must ensure that any dirty footwear is
removed before entering the accommodation. If the facilities are abused or if more persons
are sleeping in the room than allowed the wardens will consider a ban.
Breakfast, if required, is available on a daily basis.
BIKES, MOTOR BIKES AND ATV'S
No bikes, motor bikes or ATV's of any kind, may be taken onto the Showground except by
prior arrangement in writing.
DOGS
No dogs will be allowed on to the showground without prior permission from the
Chief Executive.
PLACARDS
No person shall be allowed to fix any placard in the Showground, or distribute any
handbills, circulars, etc. except at their own stands, without the written permission of the
Secretary. No person shall be allowed to take down or cover any official placard or notice.
ANNOYANCE
No exhibitor shall be allowed to shout or make undue noises in calling attention to his or
her exhibit so as to be a source of annoyance to other exhibitors.

CRUELTY TO ANIMALS
Cruelty by exhibitors to animals in any form whatsoever will not be condoned. Proven
evidence of any such cruelty may result in disciplinary action being taken towards the
exhibitor. Exhibitors are required to ensure the welfare of their animals whilst stalled,
penned, stabled or anywhere on the Society’s property during the Show. Any incident of a
welfare issue will be reported to the Society’s vets and if deemed necessary appropriate
action will be taken on the matter.
OTHER EXHIBITORS' ANIMALS
If an exhibitor is found tampering in any way with a fellow exhibitor’s animal, the Society
will direct its Disciplinary Panel to review the matter; if substantiated the individual(s)
involved may be barred for a period the Panel deems appropriate. Exhibitors should also
be aware that under no circumstances can medicines be administered to another
exhibitor’s animal. If an exhibitor is concerned over the welfare of another persons stock,
please inform a steward.
JUDGING
The judges decision shall be final.
The judges will regard the symmetry, early maturity, purity, size and general qualities as
the chief characteristics of the breed which they judge. The object of the Society in giving
prizes for horses, cattle, sheep, pigs and goats being to promote the improvement of
breeding stock. The judges in making their awards in the pedigree cattle, sheep, pig and
goat classes will be instructed not to take into consideration the present value to the
butcher of animals exhibited, but to decide according to the relative merits for the purpose
of breeding.
It is not necessary for a judge to place all the exhibits in the large classes or to place
exhibits which in his or her opinion have insufficient merit.
No smoking will be allowed by judges whilst in the judging rings.
Judges must not use a mobile phone whilst in the judging rings.
All handlers must be a minimum of 14 years old on the first day of the Show for the
judging of all the in-hand horse classes, in order to lead a horse/pony down the
horsewalk, judging of all cattle classes and for the Main Ring parades.
No judge shall be allowed to exhibit in the same species as they are judging at the
Royal Welsh Show, in the year of their appointment.
JUDGING – WELSH PONIES & COBS
In order to reduce the pressure on judges and stewards in the Welsh Mountain Pony,
Welsh Pony, Welsh Pony (Cob Type) and Welsh Cob Sections (A, B, C & D), the judges
of these sections will be instructed that, after first inspection of the entries forward, up to
twenty exhibits shall be called forward from which the appropriate number of prize winners
will be selected. The figure of twenty is a maximum, and the judges may select less than
twenty at their discretion. The remaining exhibits will be asked to leave the judging ring
after running once in front of the Grandstand.
In addition to the above, exhibitors of Section A and Section D stallions, please note that
the judging process will take place as follows:Up to the first twenty will be selected and lined up. The stallions not selected will form a
second line behind and will be given the chance of either having one run in front of the
Grandstand and then leave the ring, or stay in the second line until the final judging is
completed and be included in the final display of stallions in the Main Ring.
If any exhibitor is found leaving the ring at any other time, he or she concerned will be
warned by the Society's Stewards and subsequently reported to the Welsh Pony & Cob
Society.
JUDGING - WELSH COBS - WELSH PONIES (COB TYPE) - UNDER SADDLE
The substance of the Rule 56 stated above applies except that the Riding and
Conformation Judges will jointly select the best twenty exhibits per class to remain in the

ring for further judging with the discretion to choose more or less than this figure. After the
exhibits have been chosen the remaining exhibitors will leave the ring unplaced. The
Riding Judge will then ride each exhibit. Both judges will use the point system (50 riding
& 50 conformation) to place the exhibits concerned.
JUDGING – ALL INHAND HORSE SECTIONS
In order to reduce the pressure on judges and stewards in the horse sections if entries are
high, the judges MAY be instructed that, after first inspection of the entries forward, up to

JUDGING - SUPREME CHAMPIONSHIPS
Judges of Supreme Championships are not eligible to exhibit in the same species.
PROBATIONER JUDGES
No probationer judges are allowed to judge at the Royal Welsh Show.
SUBSTITUTE JUDGES
Should a judge be prevented from fulfilling his/her engagement, the Board of Directors
reserve, to themselves, the right to appoint a substitute. The Assistant Honorary Director
of the section would appoint the substitute judge on behalf of the Board of Directors, where
necessary.
APPOINTMENT OF AN UMPIRE
In case of a difference of opinion between the judges respecting the award of any prize on
the Showground, a Committee of not less than five members of the Board of Directors shall
be immediately summoned by the Secretary, and an umpire appointed by it, whose
decision shall be final. In the event of any judge leaving before the class which he or she
is judging is completed, the appointment of his or her successor shall also be made in the
same way. The same procedure shall be adopted if it is found necessary to appoint a
referee judge.
The Assistant Honorary Director of the section would act on behalf of the Board of Directors
where necessary.
PARADE OF ANIMALS FOR JUDGING
Horses and cattle must be paraded and exhibited in the rings with their number affixed to
the head and neck, for inspection during the Show as directed by the Stewards.
Smoking by persons in charge of stock during judging or on parade is strictly
prohibited.
Whilst judging or parading all persons in charge of stock must be suitably dressed ie, cattle,
sheep, pig and goat handlers wear white coats or appropriate Society dress and horse
handlers the correct attire. Appropriate footwear must also be worn. Whilst the judging of
a class is in progress, no animal competing therein shall be permitted to wear any prize
card or rosette (except in a championship or group championship) which may have been
awarded to it in a previous class. Judges, Stewards and exhibitors leading or riding animals
in classes, ring displays or parades and all other persons who have to go into the Show
rings should be suitably attired, including footwear.
Anyone riding an equine anywhere on the Showground must wear a hat to British Standard
specification appropriate to the relevant Section which they are exhibiting.
All handlers must be a minimum of 14 years old on the first day of the Show for the
judging of all the in-hand horse classes, in order to lead a horse/pony down the
horsewalk, judging of all cattle classes and for the Main Ring parades.
SEDATION
The use of sedation for judging and parading is prohibited and any animal so sedated will
not be allowed to be judged or paraded. The Society's Veterinary Officers reserve the right
to carry out spot checks for drugs on winning exhibits.

AWARD ON MERIT
The judges will be instructed to withhold any prize if they are of the opinion that there is
not sufficient merit in any of the stock exhibited for such prize to justify an award; and when
there is only one animal or pen of animals shown in the class, the judges may award the
first, second or any other prize according to the merits of the animal or pen of animals
exhibited.

RESERVE AWARDS
The judges will give a reserve award in each class to the exhibit which would in their
opinion, possess sufficient merit for a prize, in case an animal to which a prize has been
awarded should be subsequently disqualified. They will specially report equality of merit
to the Board of Directors, who will in such event, decide the award. They will also report
the animals which deserve to be specially commended, and then sign and deliver their
results through the Stewards to the Awards Office.
67.
ORDER OF THE STEWARDS
Any owner or attendant in charge of stock will be subject to the orders of the Stewards and
will be required to exhibit or parade the animals in his or her charge at such times as may
be directed and any owner or servants disobeying such orders by indiscipline or using
abusive or offensive language will be liable to be fined and/or removed from the
Showground, at the option of the Board of Directors. The catalogued exhibitor will be held
accountable for any misbehaviour by themselves or by any person(s) involved with the
handling and preparing of their animals whilst on the Showground. Persons in charge of
animals shall be in attendance each day during the Show and shall have such animals’
ready at least a quarter of an hour before the time appointed for exhibiting the animals in
the show rings for judging or parades.
68.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF STEWARDS
The stewards will attend on each sectional judge. It will be their duty to see that no
obstruction is offered to them, and that the space reserved for them is not encroached; or
that the proper animals entered in the Official Catalogue are presented before the judge,
to communicate to the Secretary any questions that may arise for the consideration of the
Board of Directors, to complete the judge's results, to give prize cards and rosettes to the
prize animals and to collect before the parade of a class the measurement cards signed
by the Society's Veterinary Officers (if applicable).
In the cattle classes it is their duty to satisfy themselves as to the identity of all cattle
presented for judging either by checking the earmarks with those printed in the Official
Catalogue or if the earmark is incorrect or illegible and other satisfactory means of
identification is not available, the animal shall be taken off the Showground, by order of the
Assistant Honorary Director.
All judging books must be fully and correctly completed, including a list of absent exhibits,
and be returned to the relevant results steward or Awards Office. In addition the perforated
judging slips must be removed from the judging book and taken to the relevant results
steward or Awards Office IMMEDIATELY after a class has been judged.
The Board of Directors delegates full power to the Stewards to enforce the carrying out
of the Rules & Regulations relating to livestock and other exhibits at the Society's
Shows.
69.
The stewards are required to report to the secretary's office, the names of the exhibitors
with the catalogue numbers of exhibits absent, and of the horses and cattle not brought
out for parades. Those exhibits that fail to parade will forfeit their prize money.
DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
In this clause the term "exhibitor" shall include persons taking part in any competition or
display arranged by the Society, and the owner of any animal, plant, machinery or other
thing involved in any such competition or display or otherwise exhibited on the
Showground. Save for death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the Society,

its servants or agents, the Society will not be responsible for death, injury, disease, damage
or loss caused to any exhibitor or to his or her servant or agent or to any animal, article,
plant, machinery or thing of whatever nature brought onto the Showground by the said
exhibitor from whatever cause, death, injury, disease, damage or loss arises.
Saves as aforesaid the exhibitor shall indemnify the Society against all claims, damages
and expenses whatsoever in any way arising out of the presence of the exhibitor, his or
her servants, agents, exhibits, vehicles or equipment on the Showground and shall assume
full responsibility therefore. Acceptance of the foregoing provisions shall be a condition of
entry.
As a condition of entry to the Show, all exhibitors must have Public and Products
Liability Insurance cover for a minimum of £2,000,000. Proof of cover to be provided
on request. Exhibitors are also advised to insure against fire and any other
appropriate risk.
REGULATIONS RELATING TO LIVESTOCK AND EXHIBITS ENTERED AT THIS
SOCIETY’S SHOW
The Society, its Officers or Servants shall not be responsible for any person whatsoever
while upon the Society's premises, or while entering or leaving the same, for any damage
or loss however caused to the property of any such person or for any injury, fatal or
otherwise to any such person. The Society, its Officers or Servants, shall not be
responsible for any accident, damage or loss however caused, that may occur to any
exhibitor or his or her servant, or to any animal, article or property brought into the
Showground, or while entering or leaving or being carried into or out of the said
Showground.
Each exhibitor shall be solely responsible for any loss, injury or damage that may be done
to or occasioned by, or arising from any animal, article, or property exhibited or brought
onto the Showground by him or her, he or she shall indemnify and hold harmless the
Society from and against all actions, suits, expenses and claims on account of or in respect
of any such damage or injury which may be caused or occasioned.
It is, therefore, recommended that exhibitors insure against fire and such liabilities as the
exhibitor may incur under these regulations.
The Society, its Officers and Servants will not be liable for any errors or mistakes that may
happen in placing or penning the stock or articles to be exhibited, but the servants in charge
of the same must see that they are placed according to their entries. All livestock entered
within the Society's classification MUST be housed in the appropriate lines and NOT on a
Tradestand.
ALCOHOL ABUSE
It will be an offence to carry alcoholic drink around the Showground. Drinking in public
places especially in the avenues will be an evictable offence and members will run the
additional risk of having their membership cancelled.
In the interests of health and safety, no exhibitor/competitor should consume alcohol until
his/her competition has ended. Individuals or teams who ignore this ruling will risk being
banned.

Anyone riding a horse, pony or donkey must wear a hat to British Standard
specification appropriate to the Section that they are exhibiting or competing
in. This hat must be worn at all times.
COLTS AND STALLIONS
All colts and stallions, three years old or over excluding Miniature Shetlands, MUST be
shown in bridle and bit. A stallion hired for the season will be considered to be the property
of the hirer.
HORSE EXHIBITS
The use of sawdust above the knee, or of resin, or other substances in any form or way
designed to give an animal artificial appearance, cording or any improper means adopted
in showing an animal, will lead to disqualification. Inspectors may be appointed, whose
decision will be final, to examine every horse before it enters the judging ring to adjudicate
on the issue. The Society also reserves the right to dope test any exhibit.
The Docking and Nicking of Horses Act 1949 - All entries must comply with this Act
(including imported animals).
EQUINE INFLUENZA
The owners of all equines other than foals under six months old, taking part in the Show
are advised and encouraged to have all entries properly vaccinated against Equine
Influenza. There will, however, be no compulsion to vaccinate. An effective system of
vaccination consists of two primary doses of vaccine at an interval of not less than 30 days
or not more than 90 days. Where this has been done in a previous year subsequent
vaccination should be carried out at intervals of not more than 12 months. The Society will
not hold itself responsible for any problem that may develop subsequent to bringing an
unvaccinated equine to the Show.
VETERINARY CERTIFICATE
Exhibitors whose animals are examined for soundness at the request of the judge or when
a protest is lodged and the animal rejected, may on application be furnished with a
Veterinary Certificate and may remove the animal from the Showground.
MARE WITH FOAL AT FOOT
A Mare that has lost her foal in the current year may, on production of a vet’s certificate,
compete in the Brood Mare class. The vet’s certificate must be presented to the
Assistant Honorary Director or his Deputy, in the Main Ring Control Tower half an
hour before the class commences. The exhibitor must notify the Livestock Office
beforehand and carry a copy of the certificate into the judging ring.
HEIGHT MEASUREMENTS
Official height certificates obtained from the Society's Veterinary Officers will only be
required for exhibits entered in the following sections:Riding Ponies Breeding
Welsh Part-Bred
Pony Trekking
HARNESS CLASSES
In the harness classes, for animals exceeding 143 cm, no shoes may exceed 2 lbs in
weight. For harness ponies exceeding 122 cm and not exceeding 143 cm, also for yearling
colts and fillies, no shoe shall exceed 1.5 lbs in weight.
For harness ponies not exceeding 122 cm, no shoe shall exceed 1 lb in weight.
1 cm will be allowed in height for shoeing.
Inspectors may be appointed to examine the shoes, and if it is thought that any shoe
exceeds the prescribed weight, it will be removed, and if found to exceed the weight
specified the animal will be liable for disqualification.
In the harness classes, the judges will be instructed not to award prizes to horses, if, in
their opinion, the shoes are of excessive weight.
79.
FOALS
All foals must be the offspring of the mares with which they are exhibited and the sire of
the foal must be given on the certificate of entry, unless otherwise stipulated in each
section.
80.
SHOWING FOR SALE
Horses may be examined and shown for the purpose of sale, in the paddock provided for
trial and veterinary examination, on receiving authority from the Assistant Honorary
Director of Horses or such other person as may be appointed.
81.
HARNESS HORSES, RIDING AND IN-HAND HORSES, PONIES AND JUMPING
Exhibitors are warned that any act of discourtesy or disobedience toward the officials on
the part of those engaged to ride or drive will disqualify the horses from showing.
The judge may refuse to judge any exhibit that he or she considers too dangerous to ride.
In ALL classes each rider must appear in proper riding attire approved by the Stewards
and see that his or her horse carries the Official Catalogue number.
Riders must be mounted fifteen minutes before the time appointed for jumping, and parade
their horses in the Collecting Ring.
82.
STABLES
A fee of £30.00 (including VAT) each, per night, will be charged and must be paid at the
time of entry for the use of all stables. Any exhibits found to be in a stable not paid for will
be disqualified. Exhibitors are requested to submit their entries in good time as a limited
number of stables will be available and not all exhibitors can be accommodated. Therefore,
exhibitors must realise that certain reservations will have to be cancelled, exhibitors will be
informed accordingly. Stables will be allocated on a first come first served basis immidieatly
following the posting of the Livestock Schedule from the Livestock Office. Stables are for
use by horses and ponies only.
The Society will be providing an alternative stabling arrangement for any entries that it
cannot accommodate on the Showground. The stabling site is called Wernfawr and is a
mile away from the Showground. All necessary facilities will be provided. Exhibitors must
complete the entry form if they wish to be considered for the Wernfawr stabling site if the
Society is unable to accommodate there entry/ies on the Showground. A fee of £25.00
(including VAT) each, per night, will be charged for the site and must be paid at the time
of entry.
In case of emergency, the Society will not be held responsible for the horses and ponies
if they have to be let out of their stables.
If exhibitors use stables that have not been booked, paid for or allocated to them, then
they will be barred from booking stables for a further five years. Stables are not
transferable between exhibitors. The Society reserves the right to re-allocate stables at
its discretion. Stable fees may be refunded if cancelled, in writing and received before
Friday, 24th June. No stable fees will be refunded after this date.
The Society will not permit the use of portable stables by exhibitors, nor the use of hurdles
by which to make a pen or the tethering of horses, on any area designated for use by the
Society during the Show period. Failure to comply with this rule will result in the exhibitor
concerned being barred from exhibiting at the Royal Welsh Show for a period of ten years.
They will also forfeit any RWAS Membership for ten years. The exhibitor will be removed
from the Showground and no refund of monies paid will be issued.
SPECIAL REGULATIONS RELATING TO CATTLE

In the interest of safety, no prams or pushchairs are allowed in the Cattle Buildings.
83.
CATTLE ON PARADE
All cattle will be required to be paraded as directed by the Stewards. Stock attendants
shall wear white coats or appropriate Society dress at judging and parades. Exhibitors
must ensure that sufficient stockmen are available to lead all first, second and third prize
winning animals for cattle parades. All handlers must be a minimum of 14 years old on the
first day of the Show for the judging of all cattle classes and for the Main Ring parades.
In the interest of safety, all bulls (male cattle not castrated by 10 months of age) must be
controlled at all times on the Showground through one of the following handling methods:(a)
Two people, one using a bull pole attached to the bull's nose ring and the other
using a rope or chain attached to the halter or head chain via the nose ring.
(b)
Two people both using ropes or chains, one rope or chain attached to a halter, the
other either attached directly to the nose ring or via the nose ring to the halter.
(c)
One person using a bull pole attached to the bull's nose ring and a rope or chain
attached to a halter, or head chain via the nose ring, with a competent person
standing by able to assist in the control of the bull if necessary.
(d)
One person using a rope or chain attached to a halter with a second rope or chain
attached directly to the nose ring or via the nose ring to the halter, with a competent
person standing by able to assist in the control of the bull if necessary.
In the interests of safety there should be no unauthorised movement of animals during the
Show period. Failure to parade may result in forfeiture of prize money.

IDENTIFICATION OF ENTRIES
a)
In classes for dairy cows the judges are instructed to make the milking capacity and
form of udder one of their chief points in awarding the prizes.
b)
The identification of all entries may be checked by the Stewards on behalf of the
Assistant Honorary Director.
c)
All exhibits must be registered in their respective Breed Society's Herd Book, except
for Commercial Cattle classes.
CALVING CERTIFICATE
No cow, unless in milk or in calf, will be eligible for a prize. It shall be the responsibility of
the exhibitor to prove that any particular cow has actually calved since 1st November 2014
and 23rd May 2016. The accepted definition of calving shall be 'full term calving' as defined
in Statutory Instrument 1981 No. 1455.
CATTLE STALLS/ENTRIES
(a)
The Board of Directors reserve, to themselves, the right to reduce the number of
cattle stalls originally booked by an exhibitor if the total number of stalls booked
exceeds the capacity of the buildings concerned. The Assistant Honorary Director
- Cattle will act on behalf of the Board of Directors, where necessary. Exhibitors’
who fail to arrive with exhibits that a stall has been booked for, shall forfeit their stall,
with no refund given. The Society will re-allocate the stall/s as appropriate.
(b)
Cows and heifers entered in the "in milk" classes, if they have not calved by the date
of the show, may compete in the "in calf" classes and vice versa.
(c)
Any artificial contrivance or device of any description found on, or proved to have
been used on an animal, at any time whilst that animal is on the Showground, either
for preventing the flow of milk or for any other improper practice to alter the natural
state of the animal, will disqualify that animal from being awarded a prize, and the
owner of the matter will be put to the Society’s Disciplinary Panel and said animal
will be prohibited from again entering stock for the Society's Show for a period of up
to five years or as the Board of Directors may see fit. The Society reserves the

right to have all animals inspected by a Veterinary Officer either prior to,
during, or after judging.
MILK
The milk yielded by cows in the Showground must not be sold at the stalls, but will be
purchased by the Society at a price to be agreed upon, and will be paid for at the Milk
Receiving Office (Dairy Parlour). Milking must be carried out under supervision in the Dairy
provided by the Society.
SHOWGROUND MILKING ARRANGEMENTS
The facilities provided will allow the production of the milk to be carried out in accordance
with the requirements of the Milk and Dairies (General) Regulations 1959.
All persons connected with milking must meet the following requirements of these
regulations. Any exhibitor found not complying with the regulations will be prohibited from
again entering stock for the Society's Show for a period of up to five years or as the Board
of Directors may see fit.
At milking times the exhibitors are expected to:a)
Wear clean washable overalls and head covering (to be provided by the exhibitor
for this purpose). Competitors will not be allowed into the milking area without such
protective clothing.
b)
Foremilk all cows.
c)
Ensure cows' teats and udders are clean before attaching units.
d)
Refrain from smoking.
e)
Sanitise the milking equipment after use.
f)
Store equipment in clean and dust free conditions in the plastic bags provided.
g)
Grooming and shampooing of stock will not be allowed in the milking area.
h)
Only milking personnel will be allowed in the milking area.
i)
The Society reserves the right to refuse to accept milk from any exhibitor who
contravenes the Regulations, having received a warning from the Steward on duty.
Any exhibitor found offering contaminated milk for sale will be held responsible for all
consequential losses.

88.
SHEEP ENTRIES
(a)
In all classes, two shear and shearling means sheep born in 2014 and 2015
respectively. Lambs must have been born in 2016 unless otherwise stated.
(b)
All rams, two shear and over, must have been used in the year preceeding the Show
and have proved stock getters.
(c)
To comply with Health and Safety Regulations the use of any substance containing
toxic chemicals, including sheep dips to prepare sheep for showing, whilst on the
Showground is strictly forbidden. Any defaulter will be asked to leave the
Showground and entry refused in the following year.
(d)
For health & safety reasons, All persons present in the Sheep Ring during judging,
handling sheep in the Main Ring Parade or present with sheep handlers in the
Main Ring Parade, MUST be a minimum of 11 years old on the first day of the
Show. (This rule does not apply to the Young Handler Competition)

LIMITATION OF ENTRIES - SHEEP SECTION
The Society reserves the right to limit entries and/or pens if necessary. Each
exhibitor is limited to two entries per class.
SHEEP DISEASES & REGULATIONS
(a)
Sheep Scab
The Society reserves the right to make any checks that it feels necessary.
(b)
(c)
Any exhibitor of livestock shall forfeit and pay to the Society for costs incurred as
and for liquidated damages if any animals which he or she exhibits is, to his or her
knowledge, suffering from any contagious or infectious disease, and for each and
every such animal if more than one.
The Stewards, on the recommendation of the Society's Veterinary Officers shall
have the power to remove from the Showground any unruly, vicious, deformed or
diseased animals, and also the stock implements, or miscellaneous articles
belonging to any exhibitor who shall refuse to comply with the instructions given to
them by the Stewards without any responsibility attaching to them or to the Society
in consequence of such removal.
Scrapie Monitored Sheep
No breeding ewes, which have lambed within the previous month of the Show, or
ewes in lamb or running with the ram, will be permitted to show. No separate
provisions will be made for Scrapie Monitored Sheep.
The SAC Sheep and Goat Health Scheme
The onus is on the MV/CAE Accredited Flock owners and exhibitors to take
appropriate measures to avoid close contact with non-scheme sheep and goats.
The following are the requirements for separation of accredited and non-accredited
sheep and goats.
i)
Only lorries or stock vehicles with solid partitions and separate
unloading/loading ramps for each type of stock may be used for transport of both
accredited/non-accredited animals.
ii)
Scheme sheep being presented at the Show where there are separate
sections for Scheme and Non-Scheme sheep must be accompanied by a green
SAC valid Certificate of Status stating the number and type of sheep and the
accredited flock's registration number. These Certificates must be presented to
either the Official Veterinary Officer or the Secretary or his nominee before the
sheep are allowed into the separate accommodation for Scheme sheep.
iii)
If any sheep come into close contact with non-accredited sheep it must, on
return to its own or other scheme premises, assume the status of the contact sheep.
Generally this will require isolation and testing at six to nine monthly intervals until
the status is regained.
iv)
There will be no separate facilities for qualifying exhibits and the sheep
Section will consist of Accredited and Non-Accredited Status.
v)
Sheep will not be allowed into the judging rings except for the purpose of
taking part in judging or championships or parade.
vi)
It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to ensure that sheep of any one health
status
are confined at all times to the areas thus designated by the Society.
(d)
Records, Identification and Movement of Sheep
Exhibitors’ must ensure that they comply with the requirements of national
legislation in force at the time of the Show.
(e)
The Welfare of Livestock (Prohibited Operation) Regulation 1982 Short Tail
Docking of Sheep
Exhibitors should take note that all exhibits must comply with this Regulation in that
tails must be long enough to cover the Vulva of the female and the Anus of the male.

91.
PIG ENTRIES
(a)
A breeding sow in any of the classes if in pig shall be certified to be in pig at the
time of entry. In the case of an 'in Pig' sow, the prize will be withheld until the
exhibitor shall have furnished the Secretary with a Certificate of Farrowing.
(b)
If a litter of pigs be sent with a breeding sow, the young pigs must be the produce
of the sow, and must not exceed two months old.
(c)
In the event of a protest being lodged against an exhibit on the ground that it does
not comply with the age requirements of the class in which it is entered, the exhibit
shall be submitted to the detection test by the Society's Veterinary Officers, and the
decision shall be final. In applying the test, pigs with either one of their permanent
incisors cut will be considered as exceeding six months old, pigs with their central
permanent incisors up, and any of the three first permanent molar cut will be
considered as exceeding twelve months old and pigs with their lateral permanent
incisors fully up will be considered as exceeding eighteen months old.
(d)
Any pig, found to be artificially coloured, either at the time of judging or afterwards,
will be disqualified. The use of artificial whitening and/or powder on white breeds is
prohibited and will lead to disqualification.
(e)
The judges will be instructed to withhold prizes with the sanction of the Stewards,
from any animals, which appear, to them to have been entered in the wrong class.
(f)
The prizes in the pig classes are offered subject to any orders of the Ministry of
Agriculture or of the Local Authorities. No pigs from a "Swine Infected Area" can be
admitted for exhibition.
(g)
The Society reserves the right to limit entries and/or pens if necessary.
(h)
For health & safety reasons, all persons present in the Pig Ring during judging,
handling pigs in the Main Ring Parade or present with pig handlers in the Main
Ring Parade, MUST be a minimum of 11 years old on the first day of the Show.
(This rule does not apply to the Young Handler Competition)
