Sense Professional
Development Programme
Welcome to our fourth annual Professional Development Programme.
Over the coming 12 months we will continue to deliver industry leading, CII
accredited training, which builds on the successes of 2015, when we were delighted
to receive the Best Professional Development Award from Money Marketing.
We have taken into account the feedback from our members as we have looked
to retain, expand and refresh the parts of the 2015 programme which were most
popular, whilst adding a number of new elements. This includes new and improved
venues allowing better than ever access to the programme.
Central to the design of our programme is our understanding that the time you
commit is precious, it has therefore been designed to deliver great value as
efficiently as possible.
The live events will give you at least 35 hours of structured CPD, with additional
unstructured CPD available through our considerably expanded webinar programme.
The modular nature of the programme will allow you to quickly and easily select
and book the events you want to attend. We have made enhancements to the CPD
logging process via Financial Assess and also improved the testing format so that you
can be sure the content is both relevant and topical.
Each event covers a specific topic and will be delivered across multiple locations.
Learning styles have been factored into our planning, allowing you to select the
events that are most appropriate to you and your business needs.
In addition to the live events, we have expanded our successful webinar programme
for 2016, adding a series of live, web-based Q&A sessions. We have also added a
range of revision study courses and discounts to industry leading study materials.
This programme offers carefully designed remote support and training,
complementing the face-to-face events to maximise learning outcomes. I look
forward to seeing you at the events.

2016 Event Rundown
Our 2016 development programme has been designed to be modular, enabling
you to select the events that best suit you. Modules will start and finish in
a single month, and the centrepiece of these modules will be the Keynote
events. To support these, web conferences will be available looking at how to
make the most out of Intelligent Office and improving file standards relating to
the module.
Keynotes
The 2016 Keynote events form the basis for our development programme.
Central to each module, the Keynotes are fully interactive, covering key
product and compliance areas. The Keynotes will be delivered throughout the
year across three core modules.
NEW FOR
Roadshows
2016
Each Roadshow event focuses on a key industry topic and gives delegates the
opportunity to explore the topic across a number of retail product areas.
These events will include a greater opportunity to debate and will allow
additional time to share good practice.
Forums (AR Principals only)
Our Forums are for AR Principals only and they address key issues of the day.
The content framework is scheduled around presentations to the group, with
time built into the day to accommodate questions and discussion. Agendas for
the Forums will be provided in advance of each event to ensure content is as
up to date and relevant as possible.
Webinar Programme
NEW FOR
2016
Our webinar programme will run throughout the year covering a wide range
of topics. A total of 36 webinars will qualify as structured CPD, addressing
particular learning outcomes over 30 minutes or more. Additionally, we will be
hosting numerous webinars relating to product launches and key developments
from product providers over the course of the year.
Information on forthcoming webinars will be distributed by email on a month
to month basis, with full details published on the Sense Extranet.

AR Principal Development Programme
NEW FOR
2016
For AR Principals wanting to increase their understanding of strategic planning
and risk management, we offer support for CII J07 and AF6 exams.
In 2016 we are running two 10-week webinar courses for J07 and AF6 (Jan –
April and July – October) which will help prepare candidates for the exams.
During 2016 we will also be running a Leadership and Strategic Management
lecture programme for AR Principals and Practice Managers.
For further details, or to register an interest, email [email protected]
Registration
To register for any of these events, please email [email protected]
Multiple bookings (of people and events) are accepted. Each email needs to
clearly state the names of the delegates, any dietary requirements, their email
addresses, their telephone numbers, and the title and date of the event.
Support for CII Corporate Chartered Status
The IFA sector is changing, and our role in it is to provide tangible support
and assistance to advisory firms looking to prosper from the modern financial
services landscape. We have therefore introduced support for CII Corporate
Chartered status.
At the heart of the CII’s Chartered status for firms is the desire to help the
insurance and financial advice disciplines to improve standards of knowledge
and behaviour and, in turn, levels of professionalism.
This is achieved by creating a framework that encourages and supports firms as
they strive to raise standards of capability and ethical practice.
A Corporate Chartered title is a commitment to an overall standard of
excellence and professionalism, and evidence of that commitment to
customers, partners and employees.
For firms with over £200,000 annual turnover who qualify for CII Corporate
Chartered status, we will pay the annual fee. In addition, our Professional
Adviser Development Programme forms part of a fast track application process.

Pensions Management Institute accredited CPD
Sense has been instrumental in creating the CPD accreditation for Pensions
Auto Enrolment with the PMI. Coupled with the additional training support we
give to advisers wanting to take the PMI Certificate in Auto Enrolment, all of
our pension and retirement related Keynote content has been PMI accredited.
Trailblazer Apprenticeships
NEW FOR
2016
Sense has taken a key role in the development of trailblazer apprenticeships
within the financial services sector. With the Administrator and Paraplanner
trailblazer standards already approved, Sense will be heavily involved in the
design of two further trailblazer apprenticeship standards for financial services
in 2016. During 2016 we will be supporting AR Firms in the development of their
apprentices. If you would like to know more about our Apprentice Development
Programme please email [email protected]

CII and NSAFS Accredited Training
Our professional development programme is underpinned with at least 35
hours of content delivered by a trainer accredited by the Chartered Insurance
Instutute and the National Skills Academy for Financial Services. Each of the
six live modules will have at least 2 hours of CII and NSAFS accredited training
content with additional accredited content available throughout the year
through the webinar programme.
CII and NSAFS accredited trainers are required to demonstrate a high standard
of technical knowledge, training ability and industry experience. Each trainer
has been successful in a rigorous, independent review, benchmarked against
standards which include:
• Relevant subject and sector knowledge
• Training design and delivery skills
• Course planning and organisational skills
• Professionalism

Training and Development Coaching
Our risk-based approach to supervision delivers training and coaching
through regular development meetings, role plays, ad hoc assessments, live
observations and web conference training.
Records of these interactions are recorded in CII Financial Assess or CII
Mortgage Assess, ensuring that you have easy access to review notes and the
outcomes of training.

CII Financial Assess and CII Mortgage Assess
Financial Assess and Mortgage Assess are targeted technical training and
assessment tools designed to assist you with your training and competency
programme. They also provide a centre for recording CPD activity and keeping
track of your CPD year and SPS renewal.
Following completion of a gap analysis, you can select from a variety of
learning tools ranging from simple reading to full interactive courses.
Once completed, the learning can be validated through a short test and the
activity is automatically populated onto the CPD record.
In addition to this, the system facilitates supported learning through the T&C
function, enabling T&C Supervisors to schedule specific tasks based on data
from your KPIs.
Financial Assess
Financial Assess offers a comprehensive, coordinated range of technical
training and assessment tools designed to keep those providing financial advice
and supporting staff up-to-speed with technical, market and regulatory issues.
We provide you with full access, without charge, to all of the available system
tools including:
• Knowledge Assessment System
• Record keeping and management information
• Technical learning material
• Interactive tutorials
Mortgage Assess
Mortgage Assess is an online system designed to help the mortgage industry
improve its commercial performance, enhance levels of customer care, and
importantly, assist in meeting the Training and Competence requirements of
the FCA.
Modular in structure, it covers all aspects of mortgages and the home buying
process including regulation, insurances and repayment vehicles.
In addition to the features listed above, Mortgage Assess also gives you access
to Key Facts modules. As with Financial Assess, this is brought to you without
charge if you are registered as a mortgage adviser with Sense.
