Scholarship support is vital to our students. It rewards a student’s academic achievement
and lessens the cost of attending Walsh. We are grateful to our donors for helping our deserving
students reach their goal of a higher education.

New Scholarships
Alumnus and Trustee David Petoskey (BBA ’90) and Kathy, his wife,
created The Petoskey Family Endowed Scholarship.
Paul Trulik (BAcct. ’90) and his wife, Tricia, have funded the Michael
(Diploma ’64) and Rosemarie McKay Endowed Scholarship in honor
of Tricia’s parents. Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible
for the award.
Michael Plotzke (BAcct. ’80; MST ’86) and his wife, Courtney,
established the Plotzke Family Endowed Scholarship in tribute
to Ilene Plotzke, Michael’s mother. Undergraduate and graduate
students are eligible for the award, with a preference to Macomb
Community College transfer students.
Communications and Management Chair Sheila Ronis, Ph.D.,
created the Chadwick Herman Rakusin, CPA, Memorial Scholarship
in memory of her father. MBA students are eligible for the
scholarship.
The Joyce and Charles Simmons Foundation created The Joyce and
Charles Simmons Annual Scholarship to assist undergraduate and
graduate students studying Information Assurance and Business
Law. P. Terry and Barbara Knight helped to establish the scholarship.
Jeff Groen (BAcct. ’76; MST ’81) made a challenge grant to fellow
alumni to initiate the Mark Solomon Endowed Scholarship. The
scholarship honors legendary Taxation professor Mark Solomon and
is open to MST students employed by the IRS.
The Tax Executives Institute Detroit Chapter recently made an award
to Walsh College to establish the TEI Detroit Chapter Scholarship.
The scholarship is open to Bachelor of Accountancy majors taking
Taxation courses.
Walsh College Trustee Tom McNulty has created The Thomas F.
McNulty Endowed Scholarship for Student Leaders. Applicants will come
from a pool of students who participate in student government or as
officers in another Walsh College student organization.
Walsh Trustee Neal Zalenko and Esther, his wife, created
The Neal F. and Esther Zalenko Scholarship for deserving students
demonstrating financial need.

The President’s Club
The Mervyn B. Walsh Society recognizes six distinct groups of
individuals and organizations that provide significant support to
Walsh College:
The President’s Club is a leadership annual giving society of alumni,
friends, and employees who support Walsh College with an annual gift

The Jeffery W. Barry Society
This society was created to follow the example of Walsh College
President Emeritus Jeffery W. Barry’s leadership and commitment
to Walsh. Individuals, corporations, and foundations that
consistently support Walsh College for five or more years with a gift
of $250 or more are recognized in the Annual President’s Report
and receive a biannual presidential newsletter specifically profiling
how donor gifts are making a difference at Walsh.
The Archie Waring Society
The Archie Waring Society recognizes individuals who have
formally notified the College that they have included Walsh in their
will, have established a planned gift (i.e., bequest, charitable gift
annuity), or have named Walsh as a beneficiary in their retirement
plan or non-term life insurance policy. Membership benefits
include an invitation to an annual luncheon with the College
President, a commemorative pin, and recognition on the Jeffery
W. Barry Center donor wall, in the Annual President’s Report,
and on the pages of the Waring Report biannual planned giving
newsletter.

Shareholders Circle (Corporate & Organization Giving)
The Shareholders Circle recognizes companies, foundations, and

to ensure the integrity of our philanthropy program.
By supporting students, academics, and the learning environment, donors
provide a vital revenue stream that helps to build a thriving economic
