All the Christmas festivities
are over and it is time to go
back to school. But January
is not all doom and gloom as
we have a very exciting year
of theatre ahead of us for
your students. With fantastic
rates and new shows on the
horizon, there has never been
a better time to book your trip
to the theatre.
It has just been announced
that GreaT expecTaTions
(pg 1) is opening in the West
End, after receiving fantastic
reviews across the board,
whilst on its UK tour. As well
as taking your students to see
this classic production, you
can also listen to a talk offered
by Dickens’s great, great,
great grand-daughter Lucinda
Dickens Hawksley. With a
schools rate of £20, this is not
to be missed.
Or maybe you would prefer
to see more of an old classic
like sToMp (pg 4), which
is celebrating its 11th year

THE GLOBE EXHIBITION
Imagine the Globe as it would have been: the centre of what
was once London’s most notorious entertainment district,
surrounded by raucous taverns and bawdy-houses. Find
out about extravagant Elizabethan costumes, Renaissance
instruments and how they were used, and the dramatic stories
of the first Globe crossing the Thames, and the new Globe
being reconstructed on Bankside.
BACKSTAGE TOUR AT THE NATIONAL THEATRE
Their well-informed guides will lead you through the backstage
areas of the three theatres, following in the footsteps and
revealing the secrets of the greatest actors and directors of
the last 35 years. The National Theatre produces around 20
new productions every year with lots going on on-site every

Why not book one of the Globe Education’s Lively Action workshops? These 90 minute workshops include a tour of the theatre
and a session with a Globe Education Practitioner who will apply a range of active, playful approaches to Shakespeare.
Students will explore the performance conditions of the playhouse, respond to Shakespeare’s plays, and experiment with the
language of Shakespeare using techniques from the rehearsal room.
This workshop, lunch and a West End matinee show all starts from just £32.50 per person.
