RELAIS SAN MAURIZIO
Jewel from the 600’s, the monastery of San
Maurizio was founded by the Cistercian monks
in 1619, and lived there until 1802. The same
monks, who came from Provence, introduced
the cultivation of the vines, herbs and wine
production to the area.
Underneath the monastery they built majestic
cellars with brick vaulted ceilings and walls,
which today is home to “Guido da Costigliole”
restaurant. In 1997 the monastery was bought
by the current ownership and was returned to
its antique splendour as a luxury hotel.
