2014 BANQUET & FUNDRAISING
AUCTIONS
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 15
Holiday Inn Select – Expo Center, Columbia, Mo.
Welcome
Welcome to the celebration of the Dynasty we know as Mizzou!!! This marks
the 19th year we have celebrated the accomplishments of our students and
alumni that have made this University and CAFNR so great over so many years.
As you know, 2014 marks the 175th anniversary of the University of
Missouri, founded in 1839. Subsequently, the Morrill Land-Grant Act of
1862, signed into law by President Abraham Lincoln, enabled the University
to become a land-grant college to promote all the best in food and fiber
production. That in itself would be enough to qualify for the Dynasty
acknowledgement. But this year, we also celebrate 100 years of the
Cooperative Extension Service, connected to land-grant universities, to inform
people about current developments in agriculture, home economics, public
policy, and other related subjects. These are landmark anniversaries we
celebrate tonight.
On behalf of the Mizzou Ag Alumni Association, we hope that as you
celebrate tonight, you will remember why we are here…to continue the
tradition – The Dynasty! Through your generosity, we can help launch careers
of the next generation who will make this Dynasty last for another 175 years.
We hope you find a few items that make you want to splurge. As you know,
funds raised here help support student scholarships, leadership development
activities, and educational enhancements within the CAFNR. Many of you
here have experienced the power of CAFNR Ag Unlimited since you have been
recipients of this event’s proceeds.
Because of you and fellow friends and alumni, more than $600,000 has
been raised to benefit CAFNR students. These funds have aided our College’s
recruitment efforts, enhanced its educational facilities, and supported
opportunities for students to gain real-world experiences. We sincerely
appreciate your participation in this event and your continued dedication
to the College. With your support, tonight and throughout the year, we will
continue to enhance educational opportunities for students.
This event takes an enormous number of people working together to make it
a success. We owe a huge thank you to sponsors, contributors, alumni, students
and friends. Thanks again for being part of CAFNR Ag Unlimited 2014. Enjoy
yourself and be sure to bring a couple of friends with you next year.
Proud of Mizzou and CAFNR,
