Family Challenge
Hey Parents...Obey 4Ever!
Obedience, what an awesome word from a parent’s perspective. If our kids
would just be 100% obedient, life would be great — for them and us! But
let’s look at the word “obedience” from God’s standards. Obedience: To do
what I am asked to do immediately, completely, and willingly; following
instructions. — Children’s Ministry Resource Bible
What if we, as parents, and our kids were 100% obedient to God? How
would our lives be different?

To help your kids see the difference between obedience and disobedience,
draw two boxes. In one box, draw a person who is not obedient to God.
Include disobedient things he or she may do. Use word and thought
bubbles to show disobedent things he or she might say and think. In the
other box, draw a person who is totally obedient to God. What would his or
her actions, words, and thoughts be like?
As a family talk about why it’s important to
be obedient and to do what is right. In some
situations kids may be made fun of or
bullied for obeying God. Talk about how to
walk through these situations and remain
faithful to God.

Life is full of choices. We make choices everyday — some good, some not so good.
This is a picture of a young boy in a slum in Nairobi, Kenya. A fence separated this little
boy and his home from three choices. On his side of the fence were his home and his
family. On the other side of the fence was a large field with three groups of kids.
1. The first was a group of kids playing a game of soccer.
2. The second was a group of older kids standing in a very tight huddle buying, selling,
and taking drugs.
3. The third was a group of kids and their leaders playing games around an Awana circle.
They were learning about the God who created them, loves
them, and has a plan for their lives. Will this boy make the
right choice? Take some time to pray for Awana clubs around
the world. Pray they reach kids just like this boy!
