It will be a day of fun and laughter with good food and prizes for all who attend and participate. As we read Charity Matters by our Charity Liaison, Diane Tokarski, we will learn more about our 2016 charity, Safelight. Many exciting things are happening at Safelight and we are happy to sponsor them this year. Your Board will be planning and hosting a New Members Luncheon in the next month APRIL BIRTHDAYS 9 11 16 18 21 Janice Neely Ann Janes Galen Reuther Marilyn Cullom Diane Fitzgerald Cove parking lot (Dark Blue Chrysler Town and Country minivan). Thank you in advance for helping this worthy organization. ~~~~ Charity Matters By Diane Tokarski We couldn’t be happier for Safelight! On February 29th, Safelight was awarded a $100,000 grant from the John William Pope Foundation for the purpose of expanding its commercial kitchen in the Dandelion Restaurant. The grant enables Safelight the opportunity to enlarge its current culinary skills training program for its clients as well as providing Spotlight funds to expand its current catering program. Kudos to Safelight! The March 29th Scavenger Hunt is coming up soon, and we have been given an update on a few other items that Safelight can use. Here is a complete list: New and gently used vacuum cleaners Toilet paper, paper towels and facial tissue Feminine products, particularly pads (not ultra-thin) Similac Advance baby formula Food items that kids enjoy, i.e., Spaghettios, pasta and quick meal items. Often times, clients don’t have money when they arrive at the shelter and the items on hand may not be what the children like. We will be collecting the above-mentioned items at our March 29th Scavenger Hunt, to be held at Cummings Cove. ~~~~Before the Scavenger Hunt begins, please bring your items to my van in the Cummings Laresa Griffin and possibly Tanya Blackford of Safelight will be stopping by at the luncheon after the Scavenger Hunt to say hello to Welcome Club members. They are so very appreciative that Safelight has been selected as Welcome Club’s 2016 charity.
