Rebelle ou ultralibéral, parfois excessif et vulgaire mais en tout cas jamais calmé, il a conquis les hit-parades en bousculant au passage les codes du business musical… et quelques autres : au 21ème siècle, quel jeune terrien n’écoute pas de rap ? Le R&B, aussi délicat que son grand frère le rap est furieux, est parti à l’assaut des meilleures ventes de CD, en a conquis les cimes et est un des genres les plus écoutés par les jeunes du monde occidental. La new soul, plus récemment débarquée, a trusté les palmarès des ventes mondiales, et célèbre le retour de la soul et de sa grande âme.
