F.O.E. Grand Worthy President Chuck Lang Passes Away

The Official Bulletin of The Fraternal Order of Eagles Grand Aerie
A Message From F.O.E. Grand Worthy President
The Lang Family Chuck Lang Passes Away
To the Officers of the Grand & Chuck's
friends,
Of all the thank yous - this is by far the
hardest to write. It is the final message
from Chuck. I'm sure you know - but I
will say it anyway - he was so proud to be
an Eagle.
He was proud to call you his brothers
& sisters. Seems every conversation we
ever had ALWAYS came back to the
Eagles. I'm sure there were bumps along
the way, but things seemed to work out
and you got better in your Eagle ways.
Thank you for the beautiful flowers
and your presence at his funeral. He
would have been absolutely floored to
know you were there.
Not sure why God took him before he
could accomplish his goals, but that is not
up to me to know I guess.
From the bottom of my heart and my
family - THANK YOU!
- Brenda Lang.
Grand Aerie Announcement
During a Convention planning visit in
Reno, Nev., last month, Jr. Past Grand
Worthy President David Tice and Grand
Worthy President Bud Haigh were
formally installed in their new positions
within the Grand Aerie.
For the remainder of the year, Haigh
will make visitations throughout the
jurisdiction, raising funds in Chuck’s
honor for his charity, the Eagles’ Art
Ehrmann Cancer Fund. Tice and Haigh
look forward to working with our great
members for the next few months to
honor Brother Lang’s memory.
Fraternal Order
of Eagles Grand
Worthy President
Chuck Lang passed
away on Dec. 22,
2015. Lang was a
member of Harvey,
N.D., Aerie #3080,
where
he
had
proudly
served
since April 14, 1980.
Brother Lang held
many
positions
on the local and
state
levels,
including Dakota
State President in
2001, before being
appointed North
Central Regional
President by G.W.P.
Wayne D. Clark
for the 2003-2004
fraternal year.
In 2006, he began
his ascent through
the Grand Aerie
chairs, serving as
Grand Outside Guard. Brother Lang
continued his involvement with the
Grand Aerie through 2015, when
he was installed as Grand Worthy
President during the International
Convention in Milwaukee, Wisc.
He was a longtime auctioneer of
construction equipment, utilizing
his skills throughout the world.
Brother Lang put his golden voice
to use for the Eagles on several
occasions, serving as the auctioneer
for the organization’s annual live
auction to benefit the Fraternal
Order of Eagles Diabetes Research
Center.
His installation as Grand Worthy
President and his induction into the
Dakota State Eagles Hall of Fame
were among his proudest moments
as a member.

103-Year-Old Wyandotte Member
Honored With High School Diploma
On
December
16,
103-year-old Irene Hill,
a member of Wyandotte
Auxiliary
#87,
was
surprised with her longawaited diploma from
Wyandotte High School.
The special ceremony
took place in the school’s
auditorium.
A fire in 1933 destroyed
the high school and local
historian Craig Delich
discovered
that
two
individuals who attended
the school when disaster
struck were still alive. The
first had graduated from a
neighboring high school,
but the second – Hill –
quit school to care for her
mother.
Following her mother’s
death, Hill married Clyde W. Hill. Back then, students who
quit school and got married were not allowed to pursue a GED
or return to school.
When Delich learned of Hill’s circumstances and her 30year history working for the board of education’s food service
department, he approached the school and superintendent
about awarding the honorary degree to Hill. Irene had roughly
45 family members present for the event.
Sadly, Irene passed away in early January.
