This year’s Festival
is dedicated to the
memory of Joyous
Bowen. Joyous was
involved in the arts
in Shawano for longer than most of us
can remember. She
worked for 37 years to bring the
Shawano Folk Music Festival to life
(one of only two volunteers who
could claim that record). She sang,
danced and rode her motorcycle
cross country whenever she could.
In her 90’s she bought a mountain
dulcimer and learned to play it. We
lost Joyous last September, and we
will miss her.

Pond View Glen, Unplugged
This year, we’re not wiring the Pond View Glen stage for sound. It’s the way
we used to do it years ago, and it’s still a good idea. Pond View Glen is a
small, intimate space, perfect for things that want a quieter sound. It’s the

Red Tail Ring is the musical brainchild of two old-timeminded Michiganders – Michael Beauchamp and Laurel
Premo. The collaboration blends the loving attention of
revivalist fervor with the playful creativity of starting
from scratch. Whether rendering a traditional tune or
one of their many original compositions, the duo infuses each
song with musical imagination,

Tom Pease
Tom Pease is familiar to most children in Wisconsin
– and to anyone who’s been a child or lived with one. His
performances for children and families are energetic, a
little wacky, and totally unforgettable. Full of laughter,
movement and music, we all
sing and dance along with
him, following his lead as
we wave our arms and make
funny faces. His concerts are
also full of respect for his audience, fellow musicians, the
environment and the music
itself. Tom comes from Amherst, WI. This is his 18th appearance at this festival and
we’re happy he’s back. More

The Crossing
Since 1984 the Crossing has been creating energetic and
moving music in the Celtic tradition. With intricate arrangements of traditional and original tunes, they carry
on the good storytelling found in the celtic lands. Add
their rich vocals and the result is captivating and energizing. Based in Chicago, the group includes Tony Krogh

Buckskinners’ Rendezvous!
Buckskinners
Before 1840, trappers and explorers gathered from time to time
at a Rendezvous to swap songs and stories, trade pelts, and rest
a bit before going back out. This is a reenactment of a pre-1840

spinning yarns, telling tales and making
music. They use old skills and sell handƒ†‡™ƒ”‡•›‘—…ƒǯ–ϐ‹†ƒ›™Š‡”‡‡Ž•‡Ǥ
