Activities Week
Co-ordinators:
Mrs T. Wiseman &
Mrs D Sawyer-Stone
Dear Parent/Guardian
Welcome to the brochure introducing the information for this summer’s Enterprise Activities
Week. Activities Week takes place this year during the penultimate week of the Summer Term
and has been running in A.H.S. for over 25 years. We aim to end the academic year with a fun
and exciting range of events designed to:






Spend an extended period of time on an activity of your choice
Undertake a residential experience if you wish
Try something completely different
Progress further with existing skills
Work with students from different year groups
Develop the skills needed to be enterprising and utilise key skills in new situations
All students are expected to take part in an activity.
The school is unable to authorise absence during Activities Week, unless there are exceptional
circumstances, e.g., Armed Forces personnel returning from a tour of duty, police or other
service personnel whose leave has been cancelled during school holidays or a family funeral.
We expect cost to be an important factor; activities which have a price associated with them are
unable to run unless we can cover the full cost through your voluntary contributions. There is,
as usual, a range of free and low cost activities to ensure that every child can take part during the
week.
You will see in the brochure that we are advertising several trips which have to have bookings
well in advance, for this reason there are only a limited number of places unallocated. If you are
interested in one of these activities, you should speak directly to the organiser of the activity.
Before handing in your reply slip.
We will be organising events for over 680 students during this week and would like to draw
your attention to the details concerning how to apply for an activity and how places are
allocated.
Please complete your form carefully.
All in all, I hope you agree with us that your teachers are providing an extensive range of
activities which includes something for everyone.
As in previous years it will be a week packed with enjoyment and learning to bring an end to a
hard working and successful year for all of us.
