AUGUST 2015 Welcome to CBS Studio Center! By Judi Miller As we gear up for an awesome season ahead, we’d like to welcome to the lot our new friends Grandfathered, The Real O’Neals, Colony, Criminal Minds:Beyond Borders, and Kevin From Work. I must say too that it sure is great to see our old friends CSI:Cyber, Brooklyn Nine Nine, Last Man Standing, The Odd Couple, Baby Daddy, Soul Man and Big Brother returning again! And of course greetings to those who never left us, The Talk, Entertainment Tonight, and The Insider! The lot is bustling and though everyone is very busy, I hope you all can take the time to make use of the many facility services we offer here at CBS Studio Center, such as……….. Carla’s Café – Run by JCS Catering, the café is located in the center of the lot and open daily from 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. for breakfast, lunch and snacks. The café crew is also happy to cater your table reads and crew feeds, and supplement your craft service needs. Take Five Coffee Shop – Stop by the north side of the Administration Building to get your Starbucks© coffee fix! You’ll also find many other assorted refreshing beverages and snacks as well. Joe’s Gym – Yes, we have a gym conveniently located on the lot so no excuses! Memberships are offered exclusively to employees and tenants of the lot, for a nominal fee of $12 per month. The gym is located in the basement of Stage 19 and is open 24/7. There are men and women’s locker rooms complete with showers. A joint venture between CBS Studio Center and the Studio City Chamber of Commerce, the Festival is in its 17th year, and had something for everyone – from a kids zone to great entertainment, fabulous food and of course, spectacular fireworks. The Television and Motion Picture Car Club was back by popular demand. The car show was bigger and better than ever, as were the magic shows from the Magic Castle and model airplane demonstrations from the Black Sheep Squadron. Pirates and mermaids from Studio City Tattoo and Mutiny Magazine were available for pictures, spray on tattoos, and for the tomato toss. This year’s charity was Special Olympics World Games Host Town Studio City. Three days before the Special Olympics World Games began in Los Angeles, Studio City, spearheaded by the Studio City Chamber of Commerce, hosted 90 athletes and coaches from Cuba and the Czech Republic. Hosting responsibilities included housing, transportation, trainings, meals and cultural activities. CBS2 and KCAL9 Meteorologist Josh Rubenstein was the master of ceremonies on the main stage, which included an evening of country music with Cody Bryant and Deana Carter. Grammy nominated Carter performed her hit songs including, “Did I Shave My Legs for This?” and “Strawberry Wine” and topped the night off with a terrific performance of the national anthem accompanied by her son Hayes. A stunning fireworks show from the Pyro Spectacular team lit up the sky as a fitting culmination to a fun filled day. “The Fourth of July Fireworks Festival is a great partnership between CBS Studio Center and the Studio City Chamber of Commerce, who have come together for the last 17 years to provide a celebration that is enjoyed by thousands on the lot, and many more throughout the neighborhood as they gather to watch the spectacular fireworks,” said Esther Walker, Executive Director of the Studio City Chamber of Commerce, and Festival’s event director. 3 AUGUST 2015 your NEW nearby CHINESE RESTAURANT & 7-day-a-week Dim Sum favorite in STUDIO CITY.
