Page 35 Photo by Kelley Casey A message from the Commissioner of the CIF San Diego Section Welcome to the 2013 CIF San Diego Section Basketball Championships. On behalf of the CIF Board of Managers and our host University of San Diego, it’s a pleasure to showcase these remarkable teams and student/athletes. More than 1,000,000 high school students take part in CIF sports in California. They’re outstanding representatives of all young people, and we truly appreciate your support of them. Their level of play, their spirit and commitment, and their respect for coaches and opponents, are the hallmarks of the CIF San Diego Section. Regardless of the outcome of today’s matches, we are extremely proud of all the teams and athletes competing, and we hope you are, too. We ask that all spectators exhibit the same good sportsmanship and respect that our student/ athletes display. The coaches and officials working at the Championships have devoted untold hours in support of high school athletics, and they all deserve our thanks and respect. Please maintain the positive atmosphere that our student/athletes, coaches and officials deserve. Jerry Schniepp We sincerely appreciate your attendance today, and join with you in supporting all the teams and athletes that are competing. We have a rich tradition of athletic excellence in the San Diego Section, and today’s games will provide another great chapter. Whether you’re here for a single game or all five, we hope you enjoy the unmatched experience of high school athletic championships. Sincerely, Jerry Schniepp, Commissioner CIF-San Diego Section Official CIF San Diego Section Event Program Order Online Book published by LeaguePrints.com Records published by CIF San Diego Section Cover photos courtesy of Kelley Casey Order online at www.leagueprints.com Team Photographs courtesy of Teams & In Focus Photography CIF San Diego Basketball Championships 2014 | 1 2 | CIF San Diego Basketball Championships 2014 Boys Basketball Records TEAM CHAMPIONS CLASS 3A DateWinner 3/07/80 Patrick Henry 3/03/81 Morse 3/06/82 Patrick Henry 3/01/83 Morse 2/24/84 Poway 2/27/85 Poway 3/08/86 Poway 3/07/87 Morse Coach Fritz Ziegenfuss Ron Davis Fritz Ziegenfuss Ron Davis Neville Saner Neville Saner Neville Saner Ron Davis Runner-up Morse Patrick Henry Fallbrook Helix Patrick Henry Morse Serra Monte Vista Coach Score Ron Davis 70-63 Fritz Ziegenfuss 52-50 Jack Sandschulte67-66 John Singer 51-50 Fritz Ziegenfuss 57-51 Ron Davis 87-63 Tom Williams 74-66 Zach Peck 59-51 DIVISION I DateWinner Coach 3/04/88 Santana John Bobof 3/04/89 Poway Neville Saner 3/02/90 Sweetwater David Ybarra 3/02/91 Poway Doug Wealch 3/07/92 Poway Doug Wealch 3/04/93 Vista Greg Lanthier 3/05/94 Vista Greg Lanthier 3/03/95 RB Vista John O’Neill 3/02/96 Torrey Pines John Farrell 3/08/97 RB Vista John O’Neill 3/06/98 Rancho Bernardo Chris Carter 3/06/99 Bonita Vista John Saintignon 3/03/00 Carlsbad Tom Tarantino 3/03/01 Torrey Pines John Olive 3/01/02 Carlsbad Scott Ogden 3/08/03 El Camino Ray Johnson 3/06/04 El Camino Ray Johnson 3/05/05 Helix John Singer 3/04/06 La Costa Canyon Dave Cassaw 3/03/07 Helix John Singer 2/29/08 San Diego Kenny Roy 3/07/09 El Camino Ray Johnson 3/06/10 Rancho Bernardo Jim Choe 3/05/11 La Costa Canyon David Cassow 3/03/12 Torrey Pines John Olive Runner-up Morse San Diego Mt.
