An Adventure of a Lifetime
The expedition...
For the ultimate in experiential luxury, dunhill has teamed up with White
Desert to create the exclusive dunhill White Desert Experience. Harking
back to dunhill's heritage of outfitting grand tours and founder Alfred Dunhill's
love of bold expeditions, duhill White Desert offers a once in a lifetime
opportunity to experience the Seventh Continent in style. The first port of
call is the world famous Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town at the beginning
of November. Set in nine acres of landscaped gardens, this retreat is the
perfect stop-over to collect ones thoughts before venturing forth on the trip
of a lifetime. Time in Cape Town will be spent meeting fellow camp members
for drinks in dunhill's store and an invitation-only tour of the strictly exclusive
L'Ormarins private vineyard. Participants will thereafter be flown by private
jet to Antarctica where they will master the skills of a polar explorer from
some of the best in the business, over the 10 days they'll be there. Adding
relevant luxury to the trip, each budding Scott or Shackleton will be kitted
out in limited edition dunhill White Desert necessities.

Robert Karlsson wins sudden death play-off in
Alfred Dunhill Links Championship
Sweden's Robert Karlsson birdied the first extra hole of a sudden death play-off
against England's Ross Fisher and Germany's Martin Kaymer to win a thrilling Alfred
Dunhill Links Championship on the Old Course at St Andrews earlier this month.
u8232 Karlsson celebrated his second vitory in successive tournaments after
hitting his wedge to three feet on the 1st hole of the Old Course and rolling in
the putt, whilst Kaymer missed his eight food birdie chance and Fisher hit an
enormous drive straight into the Swilken Burn.
The tournament, conceived as a celebration of links golf, is played over three
of the world's best known and respected links courses - the Old Course at St
Andrews, the Championship Course at Carnoustie and the highly regarded
Kingsbarns Golf Links.
u8232 Joining the professionals were an enthusiastic group of talented amateur
golfers. From the world of entertainment were film and television stars Hugh
Grant, Samuel L. Jackson, John O'Hurley, Dougray Scott and Luke Wilson, and
music legends Don Felder from the Eagles, Ronan Keating, Huey Lewis and
Bon Jovi drummer Tico Torres. Many of the world's great sports stars were also
taking part including football's Sir Bobby Charlton, Johan Cruyff, Roberto
Donadoni, Ruud Gullit and Jamie Redknapp.

Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek
The Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek will be taking place from
the 11th to the 14th December this year. The 2008 Pro-am will take place on
Tuesday the 9th of Dec and each team will comprise of 3 amateurs and 1
professional golfer (see www.alfdun.co.za for more information). Situated near
Malelane in the heart of Mpumalanga, on the southern border of the Kruger National
Park, Leopard Creek is one of the most picturesque golf courses in the world.
Entries from all over the country and the world have already flooded in for this event.
Last year a judgement error at the final hole from tournament leader Ernie Els cost
him the Alfred Dunhill Championship title. The honours were instead handed to
Englishman John Bickerton. Els, who had barely been threatened as tournament
leader in the final round, arrived at the 18th with a two-shot cushion and promptly
split the fairway with his best effort all week. As Bickerton narrowly missed his birdie
putt to close the gap to two, Els made the fatal error of going for the green in two,
despite a downhill lie. It proved a foolish decision; his long-iron pushed right and
sailed into the water. After fiddling with the club selection, a rattled Els pitched his
fourth over the green and found the drink again. He then missed a crucial six-foot
putt for double-bogey that would have forced a playoff. Bickerton, whose thoughts
were only on second place, was the beneficiary of the two catastrophic lapses by
Els and he ended a bemused winner of his third European Tour title by one stroke,
on 13-under-par.
