This outfit belonged to Mike Traynor, the incredible man who, along with his wife Diane, founded the
Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and the Ride for Kids® program. Mike was looking forward to making
this his personal rig, but due to his untimely death last September, the work was halted just after it began.
Diane Traynor asked Bob Henig, a long time friend of Mike’s, Ride for Kids collaborator, and owner of
Bob’s BMW, to help find a suitable home for what would have been Mike's sidecar rig. Together they hope
that someone from the sidecar community, well-versed in the Ride for Kids ® and the PBTF, who perhaps
even knew Mike, would like to be the owner of this outfit.
Some details:
The EML GT2001 is an exceptional sidecar. Built in Holland with state-of-the art
manufacturing, it includes components that significantly alter the chassis, suspension and forks of the ST1300 for optimum performance and handling. This amazingly
comfortable sidecar has room for an adult and child or two children. Passengers
ride protected under the removable top in poor weather or open with lots of fresh
air in the best of conditions.
Mike’s beautiful Dark Candy Red Honda ST1300 with ABS was an Executive bike.
It is in basically brand new condition with only 1,261 miles on the odometer!
The sidecar has been fully prepped and is ready to be painted to match the ST1300.
No assembly of the sidecar kit was undertaken other than body prep and nothing has
been removed from the motorcycle. Both the ST1300 and the sidecar are currently
stored at Bob’s BMW in Jessup, Maryland.
Ideally, the new owner will simply request that Bob's BMW take on the final painting
and assembly. But Bob has been authorized to sell the sidecar kit independently of
the bike should someone who already owns a Honda ST1300 wish to install it on
their bike. Bob’s can also handle that installation, or it could be taken to a different
dealer or sidecar specialist of the owner’s choosing. And if a potential purchaser
feels they are up to the job, it could be taken on personally. Please know that the
ST1300 will only be sold separately if the EML Sidecar Kit is sold first.
