We also sincerely appreciate all dontations made
by members and efforts to collect things to auction off.
Please consider this your thank you.
Legends members did GREAT!
The auction raised $2,500.
Even though our original plans for our Live Charity Auction were derailed in January, we had a great
turn out and response for the rescheduled auction at
our February meeting. Perhaps we exceeded what we
would have earned at the After-Holiday Party, because
some members either turned their $70 dinner refund
back to Patriot Paws or felt empowered to spend that
much more at the auction.
If you wish to add to the amount Legends will donate to Patriot Paws, please give or mail that amount
to our treasurer, Roger Berry.

FAQ from the Caravan Blog
Corvette Legends doesn’t have an organized
group participating in the 2014 Caravan, but we want to
make sure you all know who is planning to participate.
Perhaps you can get together to coordinate your lodging,
etc. during the trip. Let us know if you’re going.

Caravan registration
We have just started processing the Caravan
registrations, which exceed 700 currently, and have
discovered some registration errors. Let us remind
everyone that the registration process is for individuals, not by car. That means BOTH participants must
register for the event including selecting which Caravan. That means if two people are coming in one car,
both must select the caravan. If you don’t have that
selected for both participants, please go back and
add that to your guest.
Roc Linkov, NCM Events Manager
Registration
Hi guys and gals,
This info is for those of you who have not yet
registered for the 2014 caravan and for some that
have. The following hints, advice, and instructions is
offered to stopgap a lot of work for NCM personnel
that shouldn’t be happening.
First, when registering, do NOT sign up for the
Ambassadors Luncheon, if you are not an ambas-
4
sador. This luncheon is a combination lunch/meeting of
the ambassadors to discuss the interactions between
clubs and the museum. If you have already registered
and selected the Ambassadors Luncheon in error, you
will notice that your registration has been corrected by
NCM personnel.
Second, if you have a significant other accompanying you on the caravan, both parties must be
registered. Registration is not by car but by person.
Everyone working on making this caravan as smooth
and enjoyable as possible needs to have an accurate
headcount.
Third, when registering the second party, be sure
and select the proper caravan for them. If you do not,
your name will be in a caravan listing and the second
party will be in a list of unknowns.
Fourth, after you have completed your registration
and you have the need to make changes to it, go back
to the original form and modify it. Do NOT fill out a second registration for the additional items you may have
selected. You will now be double counted (and double
charged) if you do that. Please take time to read the
form carefully when filling it out and make sure you
have selected all the events and merchandise (with
the correct sizes) before submitting the form. It will
make your life and ours a lot easier. Thanks for your
patience and understanding of what we are trying to do
to simplify the whole process. Best regards and happy
Corvetting to all.

Autorama
Legends winners; Joe Maulsby, Brian Ratcliff, Ken Dobbs, Don Sebert
and John Spencer.
Photos by Bill Preston, Linda Dobbs and Jerry Echols
We had a great display at the Autorama this year!
The best part was that so many new members’ cars
were there. They provided a great and unusual variety
of the older Vettes for the public to enjoy.
Being exhibited were:
-John Spencer’s 1954 Red Roadster
-Don Sebert’s 1956 Black/Silver Roadster
-Joe Maulsby’s 1960 White/Silver Roadster
-Brian Ratcliff’s 1963 Black/Blue Dragster Coupe
-Ken Dobbs’ 1963 Silver Coupe
-Buddy Cundeiff’s 1991 White Convertible
Thanks to these members and all of the others
who staffed the booth during the three-day show to
talk to the crowd. Also thanks to those who set up
and tore down our display. An especially big thanks
to Jerry Echols, our Special Events Coordinator, for
all the work he did to put this all together for our
club.

Your car doesn’t have to be a show car and it won’t be
judged. We are able to have a lot more cars in our display at
this show than at Autorama. This is a chance for you to be at
the show whatever hours you want to and visit with people who
enjoy our cars. Plus you have free admission to the show to take
in all of the new car dealers’ displays! This is also the Southwest
Automotive Aftermarket Show.
Anyone interested in displaying their new or old Corvette in
the Club display at this 5-day indoor show should contact Jerry
Echols at [email protected] or call (214) 435-3753 or sign
up at the March meeting. Unlimited free entry and no car registration fee to display.
Show times: Wed-Thur: 4-10 pm, Fri-Sat: 10am-10pm, Sun:
11am-7pm. Tickets: $12 adults, $5 senior citizens, $5 children
6-12 years old; children under 5 free.
Our cars will move in on Tuesday, March 12..F

CORVETTE LEGENDS OF TEXAS
GENERAL MEETING
Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 11:00 A.M.
La Hacienda Ranch, Carrollton, Texas
Outgoing President Tom Atchison is presented a past president’s
plaque and gavel by current president, Sam Deneault.
Outgoing President Award
After an unprecidented twelve years as president of the Corvette Legends of Texas we allowed
Tom Atchison to step back and take it easy for a
change. He was presented with the president’s
gavel and plaque to commemorate his awesome
service to this organization at the February meeting.
Tom was one of the founding members of this
club when it broke away from Lone Star Corvette
Club to focus on the older Corvettes. He still
serves as National Corvette Museum Ambassador
for the club as he has for many years. He worked
with Huffines Chevrolet in Lewisville to become
our sponsor and they have been a wonderful asset to our club for many years.
He combines his other civic interests with our
club activies, like Lewisville’s Rotary car show and
Christmas Parade, etc.
Tom promises to continue to be a familiar face
at our meetings and events, but to relax and enjoy
the club activities. Great job, Tom!
The meeting was called to order by Sam Deneault,
President at 12:05 p.m. Due to the cancellation of
the holiday party, we held the live auction led by Dan
Jacobs, who just happens to be an auctioneer, with
help from Bill Preston. The auction was fun and pretty
successful. Thank you to Dan Jacobs for an excellent
job as well as Bill Preston for harassing, I mean, helping to get the bid prices up and items sold. The money
from the auction will go to Patriot Paws, our club charity. A big thank you goes to Joel and Susan Joseph
for basically organizing the auction; ie, paddles, bid
sheets, item sheets, etc. That was a mighty big undertaking.
Outgoing president, Tom Atchison, presented our
Member of the Year award to Diane Preston, who
does an excellent job with our monthly club newsletter.
Sam presented Tom Atchison with an award for his
outstanding job as our club president for the past 12
years.
There were no Lady Legends, 50/50 or Raffle.
AutoRama is February 15-17, 2013. There are 6
club members’ cars which will make up our club display.
Upcoming Meetings
Sat, Mar 9 Spring Creek BBQ, Richardson
Meeting adjourned at 1:30 p.m. after the auction.
Minutes submitted by
Linda Deneault, Secretary.
Martha Pinson, Jim Jenkins, Allen Eggleston, Jane Ellis and Roger Berry before lunch.

At the February meeting this year’s Member of
the Year Award was presented by past president Tom
Atchison to Diane Preston, for being Legends Ledger
Newsletter Editor.
Well, it’s a little awkward writing an article about
myself... But at least I have all the information.
I have put together the newsletter for the club
monthly since December 2007. I also published
our membership directory complete with pictures of
members and their Corvettes and regular updates to
that directory.
My husband, Bill, and I have been members of
Corvette Legends since 2004. We moved to Flower
Mound from Oklahoma City.
In order to really enjoy any organization you need
to get involved, and doing the newsletter has certainly done that for me. Because I do the newsletter,
I think Bill and I participate more in club events. I feel
like I should be there to take pictures and have the
information for the stories. I’ve also had to figure out
who people are and what their names are.
If I’m not at an event, the other members have
learned that I’m going to expect them to take pictures
and put together an article for the newsletter. I have
some really good helpers, who can be counted on
to do this for the club. I also frequently e-mail photos
around to various members asking for help to identify
faces in the pictures... sometimes I get them wrong.
Lots of times when I do put the wrong name, I actually know who the person is, but there’s a disconnect
between my brain and my fingers. I do miss having a
proof reader to catch my mistakes... but I know you’ll
let me know when I make a boo boo.
I worked as a computer graphics artist for Vox
Printing where I produced newsletters for many customers and also designed trayliners and other printed
products for McDonald’s stores. It’s really fun to do
the Legends newsletter at my own speed and the
way I want to without a boss or customer to consider.
I know you guys won’t complain about how I do it,
because you don’t want to have to do it...
