Lines from Lincoln http://lincoln.morton709.org Dates to Remember: Apr 2 - Good Friday: No School Apr 5 - 9 - Spring Break; No School Apr 19 - PTO Meeting; 7:00 pm Apr 23 - 4th Quarter Midterm April Issue 2010 From the President's Desk: MUCHAS GRACIAS to our amazing carnival coordinators, Stacy Carter, Jan Hohulin, Stephanie Heinold, Joyce Kaiser, and Janice Schick. You did an absolutely incredible job with this year’s “Fiesta!” The students seemed to have a blast, and it was fun seeing all of those painted faces parade down the hallway! Thanks also to all of the parents who volunteered to set up, work games, work cash boxes, and clean up. The carnival could not happen without the support of each of you. The students had a great time and were eager to participate in the Spirit Committee’s themed attire days during carnival week. It was fun to see so many students sporting pajamas and sombreros that week! A special thank you to Jeanette Corum and her team of volunteers for organizing this fun week. Amber Pulcher and the basket committee did an outstanding job of putting together the seemingly endless baskets that were raffled off at the carnival. It’s definitely a highlight of the week to check out these baskets and eagerly await the announcement of the winners! A special thank you as well to the teachers, parents, and students for donating and collecting items for the baskets. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank a few of our committee chairs for all of their hard work this year. Abby Ely and Dana Weber stepped up to take over Afternoon Adventures and have done a remarkable job of coming up with fun classes for the students. Thanks so much for your time and energy, ladies! Additionally, Stacie Pilcher and Janelle Sauder have snipped, clipped, and shipped all of the box tops, soup labels, and Tyson labels that are sent in. We appreciate the time you spend helping earn money for our students. INKJET AND TONER CARTRIDGES Lincoln School will still be collecting empty inkjet and toner cartridges for recycling. A collection container is located in the office. This is an easy way to earn a few extra dollars for our school. If you have any questions, please contact Sheila Scheck at 266-5228. Once again, Ms. Shields’ and Miss Cox’s AM classes tied for the PTO treat for having the most parents in attendance. It’s phenomenal that we have so many kindergarten parents involved in the PTO, but those of you with older children should take this as a challenge to come to the April 19 meeting at 7 PM to earn treats for your child! These classes have tied for the last three months! Amazing! Have a Happy Easter and a relaxing Spring Break! Andrea Knepp 263-9109 SPIRIT COMMITTEE Thank you to all the students and teachers who participated in Spirit Week. We hope you enjoyed dressing up each day to celebrate this year’s Mexican Fiesta theme. For the first time ever, we had a tie for both first and second place. Congratulations to Mrs. Roth and Mrs. Lehnen’s classes who had 100% participation for the week! Both classes earned a pizza party for their first place finishes. Mrs. Mills and Miss Garretson’s classes were close behind and tied for 2nd place, earning both of their classes popcorn parties. A special thank you to volunteers Lisa Feather, Dannette Rusmey, and Mary Oswald for their help. Thank you to Stephanie Heinold, Joyce Kaiser and all of the kitchen volunteers for providing a wonderful, inexpensive meal. Fun Games!!! Thanks to each of our classes and their teachers for sponsoring a game at this year’s carnival. We were able to have 15 fun games this year. Thank you to Amber Pulcher and her volunteers for offering an awesome selection of baskets. There was definitely something for everyone! Great custodians and school staff! Thank you to Dwight Hamilton, Linda Hamilton and the custodial staff for their help setting up all of our games and cleaning up after our fiesta! Also, thank you to Sueann Spinder and the office staff for all of their help. Balloon Animals!!! Thank you to Miss Garretson for providing this carnival must-have! Volunteer, Volunteers and more volunteers!!! We had 164 volunteers to help with our 190 carnival game shifts, 29 volunteers to help in the kitchen, 13 volunteers helped with baskets, 100 volunteers brought in cakes and many of the teachers and staff signed up to sell wristbands. I especially want to thank the countless people that volunteered for multiple jobs and also those that just stepped in and offered their time and help wherever it was needed often times without being asked! Without ALL of these people there would not be a school carnival. A HUGE thank you to all of you! How did we do? We would like to hear your thoughts abut this year’s carnival. Watch for a carnival survey to come home with your student after break. Please fill it out and return it to help the carnival committee with next year's carnival.
