Adult Yoga
Yoga is a tremendous practice for quieting the
mind while stretching and strengthening the
body. The movements are slow and gentle, as we move into
each pose with awareness and attentiveness. Combining
breath and movement, yoga creates a place of stillness and
centeredness within. Although it is an ancient practice,
yoga is a wonderful method of reducing the stress of modern life. Wear loose comfortable clothing and bring a mat,
water bottle and a blanket or towel.

From the Recreation Director…Lynne Clemens
Last year I wrote that it was my best summer ever. Well
I was wrong. This summer beat it! I had my entire summer staff return and they were fantastic. We blew
away our old registration numbers! We added more outstanding staff members to accommodate the large numbers! I can’t say enough about this group of dedicated
and motivated Counselors and Directors. I want to send a
big thank you to Sean Killeen and the Batchelder School
Custodial staff and office staff for welcoming us and
letting us use their fabulous school this summer. We also
were able to open up to half day programming for children in summer school or special ed. Programs. We loved
having these kids join us for half days. We also welcomed many new toddlers to our summer programming.
We hope they are hooked and will return for more fun
with Recreation! I can’t wait until next summer!
We also had another great Summer Barbeque Series!
Even with the HOT and DRY season, we filled the park
every Wednesday with hundreds of friendly faces from
our community. I love the community pride I feel each
Wednesday when I am down there. Next summer will be
our 20th Anniversary of the Park and BBQ series! Join us
for a summer of celebration!
Our fall is full of returning programs but also has some
fall and winter adult craft nights and wonderful half day
events. Look at our new flags for new programs.
The programmer and I try to add new and exciting programs each year. Take a look, give something new a try!
Not sure of something? Call us and let us help you out.
Got a new idea or looking for a different day/time for a
program? Call us. We will always try to accommodate!
Thank you for your continued support! We all love serving
this great community!
OUR PHILOSOPHY:
The philosophy of the North Reading Parks and Recreation
is to down play the competitive approach to sports by instilling a positive attitude, confidence and sportsmanship while
emphasizing participation and teaching basic fundamentals.
It is the goal of the North Reading Recreation Department
to encourage all participants, coaches, instructors and parents to: Support and respect the coach, instructor and participants: Demonstrate what it means to play fair: Win or
lose with grace and dignity: Encourage children during programs and keep comments positive: Leave coaching to the
coaches: Parents must be a positive role model exhibiting
sportsmanship, refrain from yelling at your child and/or
other players by interrupting the flow of the program; That
everyone has a positive and fun experience!
