Foreign Affairs Symposium presents: The Art
of Integration: Islam in Britain’s Green and
Pleasant Lands
Art Exhibit on display in the Mattin Center
February 14th-20th
In 2005 the Foreign and Commonwealth Office
sponsored Peter Sanders, a British convert to Islam,
to take a collection of photographs depicting
Muslim life in Britain. This resulted in The Art of
Integration Exhibition: Islam in Britain’s Green
and Pleasant Lands, which is a unique exhibition
highlighting how Muslims in Britain are involved in
ordinary everyday activities. These photos
highlight activities undertaken by people from
every other ethnic or religious group living in
Britain. This exhibition salutes the ordinary and the
extraordinary contributions made by Muslims in
everyday life of the United Kingdom. They too play
an integral role in medicine, law, politics and every
other profession and field. They have contributed
substantially to creating the wealth and prosperity
which Muslims and non-Muslims alike enjoy in the
UK today. Contact [email protected] for more

Johns Hopkins University is committed to recruiting, supporting, and fostering a diverse community of outstanding
faculty, staff, and students. As such, Johns Hopkins does not discriminate on the basis of gender, marital status,
pregnancy, race, color, ethnicity, national origin, age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or
expression, veteran status, or other legally protected characteristic in any student program or activity administered by

Your Favorite Thing About Being

Interacting with a diverse student body

the key aspect is how you can expose
your own unrealized potential in the
process. Lambda has pushed me to
be a headstrong and vocal leader, while
my experiences at CSA and IAC have
greatly structured my time management
skills. I strongly believe that a
successful student is one who is wellrounded, as there are many things in
life that are taught outside of the
academic classroom.

Program: Debating Facts Versus Fiction/ Alireza
Jafarzadeh, author The Iran Threat: President
Ahmadinejad and the Coming Nuclear Crisis
In the past few years, Iranian President Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad has become an infamous character in
foreign affairs. In particular, the relationship
between his presidency and the increasing prospects
of a nuclear Iran has been a hot topic of discussion
for liberal and conservative scholars alike. This
panel discussion will examine Ahmadinejad’ s
motivations for making Iran a nuclear power, and
will aim to convey as many sides as possible about a
nuclear Iran and Ahmadinejad’s role in that process.
It also will examine other actors in the area and the
role of Ahmadinejad’s himself. By examining these
topics, we will be able to address possible options
for dealing with Iran in the future, and the potential
consequences of each scenario. Contact
