HelioTent - functional suncare
Congratulations from HelioVital/HelioTent, on purchasing one of our
innovative HelioVital products for selective sun protection and sun
benefits, for a worry free stay and long lasting tanning in the sun, without
sunburn.
The skin not only tans our skin, it is also vital for the body, spirit and soul. So,
sunlight forms vitamin D that is necessary for the human body, the
happiness hormone serotonin and supports the exchange of oxygen and
carbon dioxide in the lungs.
The sunlight thereby makes a crucial contribution to physical wellbeing,
and increasing vitality and attractiveness. However, the sun also has
negative effects, which you should protect yourself from - reliably and
without side effects. This is exactly what products from HelioVital offer.
HelioVital supplies intelligent shade and maintains the balance between
sun protection and sun benefits, with the unique HelioVital high tech multifunctional filter film membrane.
In order to enjoy our product for as long as possible, please adhere to the
following product instructions and assembly instructions.
All of our products are manufactured and checked according to our internal
guidelines and safety specifications, and are subject to continual quality
checks. Consistently perfect function of our products can only be
guaranteed, if the general, usual safety precautions and the product
specific safety instructions in these operating instructions are adhered to. If,
contrary to expectations, defects should arise, please contact your retailer.
●
A few words on the mode of action
Tanning without sunburn: how does it work?
HelioVital filter film membranes are modern, transparent high-tech
composite films made of various filter membranes, with a modular
construction.
The HelioVital filter film membranes produced with a special, complex
technology, selectively filter only the harmful areas of the invisible UV-A and
UV-B radiation - which are the main reason for sun burn, skin cancer, skin
aging, accelerated skin aging and various sun allergies - out of the sun's
rays, before they hit the skin, hair and eyes.
On the other hand, the beneficial proportion of radiation, which promotes
the vital formation of vitamin D and the pigment change in the skin
(persistent pigment darkening) described as tanning, is let through.

According to the latest scientific knowledge, infrared heat rays (IR) particularly IR-A rays - can also have a harmful influence on the skin. IR-A
rays penetrate deeper into the skin than UV-A and UV-B rays. In stressed
skin cells, the IR-A rays also promote the formation of free radicals, which
are responsible for collagen breakdown and premature skin aging.
HelioVital allows safe wellness in the sun: natural tanning without sunburn,
with reduced heat stress due to built-in reduction of the infrared radiation =
protection of skin, eyes and hair against the harmful proportions of UV-B,
UV-A and the IR-A radiation, through the unique UV-A / UV-B wide range
filter and IR protection complex of HelioVital filter film membrane.
HelioVital - filter film membranes are dermatologically, clinically tested - a
modern "mechanical" and nanometre precise high-tech radiation
protection, at medical product quality, without the risk of allergy!
When used correctly, the balanced selective UV-A and UV-B wide range
protection prevents sunburn and reduces the risks of skin cancer and
premature skin aging. In addition, the IR heat radiation of the sunlight is
reduced by a percentage through reflection. This protects against IR-A
damages, and at the same time, increases wellbeing due to reduced
heating of the skin exposed to the sun. Therefore, only the beneficial,
vitalising sunlight - the source of life and wellness - will be let through the
HelioVital filter film membrane.

Safety information ▼ Must read! ▼
Ultimately, our HelioTent - sun protection products must only be used for the
intended purpose of sun protection. All misuse could not only cause
damage to the product, but bring various hazards to the user, other people
or property.
Special information for your safety
The special sun protection of HelioVital filter film membrane against
harmful UV-radiation is only guaranteed, if the sun's rays hit the film
membrane first and then the person sunbathing, i.e. if the person
sunbathing finds themselves in the "intelligent film shadow", and if the
protective film shows no damages. In the "intelligent film shadow" you are
protected against sunburn, according to the relevant, stated sun protection
factor of the product. Please ensure that the "foil shadow" covers your
whole sunbathing area, and remember, especially during a nap under a
HelioTent product: the sun moves across the sky.

filtered sunlight (“Film shadow protection area“)
indirect sunlight (Reflection)

So, there is no protection through the film against indirect UV rays (for
example reflections from snow, water, mist, sand, concrete), i.e. the rays
that do not hit the film first and then the person sunbathing, but go past the
HelioVital filter film membrane, and therefore do not directly hit the person
sunbathing, rather indirectly via a reflection surface onto the person
sunbathing.
Of course, there is no protection against the sun's rays from HelioVital filter
foil membrane, if you leave the protection area of the film ("film shadow"),
for example to swim, play ball, etc.
The use of additional sun protection measures (for example sun cream,
and if necessary also light clothing) is therefore recommended. Always
remember that your behaviour alone is crucial to how long and how much
protection against harmful sunlight you enjoy from the HelioVital filter film
membrane.
Please don't forget to drink enough when staying in the sun, regardless of
whether you are protected by our product or not.
Any ill people, particularly people with UV light sensitive skin or pigment
disorders, are advised not to use this product. This also applies after
consumption of medication, alcohol or the application of toxic substances
or those which could trigger a light allergy (even essential oils). Please ask
your doctor before sunbathing if necessary.
Although your eyes and your hair are protected in the shade of the film, all
the usual precautionary measures for the eyes should be adhered to when
sunbathing. So, don't look directly into the sun, and wear sunglasses if
necessary.
SPF - How much protection do you have
The high-tech HelioVital filter film membrane is available in various sun
protection factors (SPF). You can find the sun protection factor on the
label attached to the product (see sample label) and the writing on the
packaging. These sun protection factors correspond to the sun protection
factors of sun creams.

Example:
HelioTent Miami 10 / IR**

SPF 10 = medium
and
IR-A-protection complex
(approx. 60% reduction of IR-A)
The sun protection factor
states how much longer compared to a person only
protected by their own protection - a protected person
can stay in the sun, without
getting sunburnt.
Own protection time is thereby the time that an unprotected person can stay
in the sun, without getting sunburnt. The own protection time differs from
person to person, and particularly depending on the skin type and pretanning level. Select a suitable sun protection factor for your skin type
according to the sun intensity. Please note that the intensity of the sun's
rays is not only influenced by the time of year and time of day, and cloud
cover, but also the geographical location. The sunlight strongly increases
with altitude and the proximity to the equator, and is particularly intensive at
lunch time, from 11.00 - 15.00 and/or 12.00 - 16.00 (daylight time).
Warning: small children have no self-protection. Therefore, generally, you should not expose your child to the full sun until they are one
year old. Small children lack the capacity for pigmentation and so
called light callosity formation. This is only built up slowly from the age
of two. Children's skin is particularly sensitive.

So with SPF 10 you can stay in the sun ten times longer than is beneficial for
you without protection. For light skinned Europeans (skin type 2), with a
self-protection time of 10 to 20 minutes, SPF means approx. 100 to 200
minutes protection before sunburn - in central Europe.
Summary: The self-protection time - the time that you can sunbathe with
unprotected skin, without danger of sunburn - multiplied by the sun
protection factor of the sun protected used, gives your daily sun time
account.
Tip: Sun protection products should not be used to extended sunbathing,
and serve as protection, not extended exposure to the sun.
General information for safety
If assembly instructions are attached to your HelioVital product, then you
must adhere to these instructions.
The products must always be kept away from cooking equipment, heating
equipment, petroleum lamps, candles, open fire, light bulbs, solarium
radiators or similar (fire hazard).
Remember that HelioVital products should be kept away from children, just
like any other textiles, films, bags or covers, but also ropes. Children, and
also animals could get tangled up in them (danger of suffocation and
strangulation).
There is always the risk of getting stuck in, or jabbed when handling frames,
assembly parts and similar (risk of injury). Please assemble/disassemble
carefully and calmly. It is best to do a test assembly. Remember that under
strain, parts (such as frames, ropes) can spring back (risk of injury /
damage). Ensure that all connecting parts are clean and well connected.
Pay attention to your environment with every assembly. Safety is a priority.
You need a sufficient safety distance from people and animals and objects,
and adequate space in general. Also pay attention to the wind direction. All
flat films, textiles or similar also offer a contact surface for the wind.
In strong winds therefore, there is the danger that parts or even the whole
thing may come loose from the fastenings, fall over or blow away. Thereby,
there is a risk of injury and/or damage for users and third parties, but also to
property. Children or animals could suffocate under a film.

Always ensure good fastening. In strong wind, disassemble the objects in
good time. This also applies in heavy rain and in snow, hail or storms. Take
suitable shelter in good time, particularly in the case of a storm. Products
such as HelioTent do not provide any protection against such weather
conditions: HelioVital products are exclusively intended as sun protection.
Incorrect or inadequate assembly, fastening or use for incorrect purposes,
can also lead to material damages and impede the sun protection function
of the film.
If damages are apparent, then the product must be replaced, so that the
user does not incur any damages, as a result of no longer adequate
protection function of the product.
Maintenance, care
You can keep your HelioVital product in a good condition and functional, by
adhering to the following instructions:
No aggressive cleaning agents or solvents, scouring agents, cleaning
sponges, steam cleaners or similar must be used to clean the film, as these
could damage the material or filter film membrane. The filter film membrane
should never be dry cleaned, as this scratches the surface.
The film should be cleaned damp, with clean water (e.g. free from scouring
sand) and mild commercially available cleaning agents, and never in the
washing machine.
Let your HelioTent dry properly afterwards!
A HelioVital filter film membrane only has a limited life span. Its life span
depends on the usage intensity (quantity of filtered UV radiation) and the
care taken when dealing with it: the films have an almost "intelligent usage
indicator". If the film becomes "marbled" or "milky", it is harmless, but leads
to reduced permeability even for the tanning rays.
Therefore, skin tanning is slowed down, and a replacement of the filter film
membrane is recommended. The lifespan is also significantly extended if it
is folded up and packed away in a clean, dry state after use (according to
separately enclosed instructions if applicable).
However, the protective effect is not impeded by some kinks or ripples, as
long as the filter film membrane is not recognisably damaged (rips, holes).

Please also note that the fabric colour will fade over time. Colour changes to
the material, e.g. bleaching due to strong, long and uneven sun exposure
are material related and not a reason for complaint.
Last but not least:
All HelioVital filter film membranes are non-toxic and even "food safe".
HelioVital filter film membranes are recyclable or low emission when burnt,
and therefore environmentally friendly.

General:
The HelioTent must not be assembled or remain assembled in wind, storm,
hail, thunderstorms, rain or snow fall. Otherwise, there is the danger that
parts or the whole thing will come loose from the fastenings, fall over or blow
away. Thereby, there is a risk of injury for users and third parties, but also a
risk of damage to property. Children or animals could suffocate under a film.
Never use inside or have an open fire in the immediate vicinity of HelioTent.
The HelioTent is only for private use, not for public events or commercial
use.
Assembly instructions:
1) An adult is required for assembly. In light wind, assembly by two persons
is recommended.
2) Look for a site that is as even as possible, and free from subsidence. Remove stones, branches or other pointy or angular objects before starting the assembly.
3) Take the rolled up HelioTent out of the bag,
and arrange the poles, ground pegs and guy
ropes that are located in the inside pocket.
4) Check that the HelioTent is complete and intact. Broken frame
parts and damaged closures can
be replaced with new ones.
5) Pay attention to the roll up
and/or roll out direction!
Important! Place the
HelioTent on a dry and even
surface, with the floor as the
surface. Now, roll out the
HelioTent (see fig. 2).
First the floor area, then when
changing from floor to roof
area, change the roll out direction!

Therefore, the roof is rolled out onto the already rolled out floor (and, as
it is longer, a little above it). The long holes in the side channels in the
roof must be visible from above. Finally, remove the (rolled up) long
glass fibre poles, which serve as an aid to rolling up and/or rolling out
(when disassembling and rolling up the HelioTent, proceed in the exact
opposite order. This prevents soiling. Due to this rolling up / rolling out,
the HelioVital filter film membrane will be optimally protected, and is
ready to be rolled out again as described).
6) Fix the floor at all 4 corners with the ground pegs, and on the inner metal
eyelets. The inner metal eyelets on the floor of the HelioTent are only
provided to fasten the HelioTent to the ground using ground pegs. The
roof is still rolled up above the floor. Connect the long glass fibre poles
that serve as an aid to rolling up / rolling out. Slide the connected poles
into the side channel of the roof, from the open side of the HelioTent (in
fig. 3 left) in the direction of the transition from floor to roof area.
FIG. 3

7) Then insert the end of the poles into the outer
metal eyelets in the area of the transition from
the '"roof area" to the "floor area" (in fig. 3
right).
8) Now insert the previous connected 5 short
glass fibre poles B with the T-clamps on the
long holes provided, in the long glass fibre
poles A (fig. 4).
FIG. 4
9) The 5 short glass fibre poles are then in a
slightly tensioned arc across the roof area.
Please check that the connections are
properly clamped!
10) Now take the ends of the two outer long glass fibre poles in the roof
area (in fig. 3 above left and below left) and bend the long glass fibre
poles upwards, by sliding them in the direction of the transition from the
roof to the floor area (in fig. 3 right). Warning: the floor must be fixed, if
necessary, please ask someone to hold the floor in place briefly, at the
transition from floor to ceiling area. Insert the ends into the outer metal
eyelets, which are on the outer edges of the floor. By inserting the long
rods into the metal eyelets, the HelioTent remains fixed in place.
(Please note that the glass fibre poles are under high reverse tension risk of injury!)
11) Now close both outer belt fastenings, so that
a
the open part of the roof arc maintains a fixed
connection with the floor part (see fig. 5), and
tension this connection. (Thereby, check the
b
function of the closures. Defective closures
must be replaced.)
12) Now close the 4 internal belt fastenings (fig. 5
and 6) and tension the HelioTent. The
FIG. 5
internal tension increases the stability of the
assembled HelioTent, particularly against
wind.
13) The eyelet straps on the roof edge (fig. 6) are provided for the guy
ropes, and fix the ropes into the ground with ground pegs. Of course
you can also fasten the ropes with other objects, which have a stable
connection to the ground. The guy ropes are tensioned or loosened
(shortened or extended), through the movement of the plastic plates.
11

14) Ensure that the HelioTent is as evenly tensioned as possible. Take into
account the wind direction. Wind can make re-tensioning necessary.
Please always ensure that the HelioTent is securely anchored.
FIG. 6
Disassembly instructions:
1) Clean the HelioTent inside and outside (adhere to cleaning
instructions).
2) Remove the guy ropes.
3) Loosen the inner closures, caution, reverse tension!
4) Loosen the outer closures, caution, reverse tension!
5) Remove the long poles from the metal eyelets. Caution, reverse
tension! The HelioTent roof will unbend, and must then lie flat on the
floor of the HelioTent (according to fig. 3).

6) Remove the short cross bars (the T-connectors remain on the ends of
the short cross bars).
7) Slide and/or pull the two long lengthwise poles out of the channel.
8) Remove the ground pegs from the ground and clean it.
9) Pack up the clean ground pegs in the bag provided, and place it in the
inner pocket of the separate carrying bag, together with the folded up
short cross bars and guy ropes. You still need the two long poles to help
roll it up.
10) Fix the two long poles (disconnected from each other) on the open
outer side of the roof area (in fig. 3 left) to help roll it up.
11) Roll the HelioTent roof together with the help of the poles (above the
still lying down floor), until you reach the transition from the roof to the
floor. Now roll up the floor in the opposite direction. Then the rolled up
roof is rolled up into the floor. This avoids dirt from the underside of the
floor soiling the film of the roof, this is protected by the floor material .
Your HelioTent is then ready to be rolled out again as described above.
The rolled up HelioTent is fixed by the Velcro fastener on the end of the
floor.
12) Store the HelioTent in a clean, dry place in the transport bag. Parts that
are still damp should be removed from the bag, left to dry and then
packed in the bag again.
Storage:
HelioTent should always be stored rolled up clean and dry, to avoid
corrosion and rot. It should be stored in the dark, and always in the transport
bag, as the HelioVital filter "works" even if you are not using the HelioTent.
