Our goal for this year? January 28, 2016 Vision and Focus for Each Level of the Program.. Middle School: To instruct and emphasize the fundamentals of lacrosse. Focus on the rules of the game, and build a solid foundation of stick skills. Provide playing time for each participant in games. Most importantly, teach the players to love the game of the lacrosse! Junior Varsity: Continue the emphasis on fundamentals while implementing more team strategy and play. Junior Varsity is a "stepping stone" to the Varsity program. It is a more competitive level than middle school. Playing time will become less equal among the participants. There is a larger emphasis on preparing for and winning individual games. Commitment to the team/program becomes imperative. Most importantly, teach the players to the game of lacrosse! Varsity: Every year we have the same goal. We are going out to win a championship. Fundamentals, team strategy, and advanced individual skills will be stressed. We want to be prepared for every game. We want to teach the athletes to always play hard, play smart, and play as a team. Playing time in games is strictly based on who can get a specific job done on the field in the best way. "Be the best at something." Most importantly, we want the players learning to love the game of lacrosse! January 28, 2016 Where can we improve? -Off-season play and workouts (leagues, tournaments, outside teams, conditioning and weight training, video sessions) -Team building/bonding events (watching college games, game film, team dinners, etc...) -Rebuilding relationships with officials as well as college coaches for recruiting purposes ***We have a number of officials that don't want to referee our games. There are college coaches that don't want to recruit from here, or don't even think about us. We have to focus on changing that. -Build a lacrosse community by getting coaches and players involved with the youth teams January 28, 2016 We cannot just become a team in the Spring and expect to compete with better teams.
