Development activity up in the county— Daniel Jackson, President
The mid-year reporting for Carroll County’s economic
development activity could be summarized super busy,
off the chart, a flurry of activity, wide open, or just plain
encouraging. Carroll Tomorrow’s strategic plan calls for
staff to be active, engaged, and aggressive and that was
in fact the case.
Describe it as you like, the important thing is when it
comes to economic and community development
activity, the mid-year 2013 reflects good activity and
progress.
Prospect activity is abundant with leads and visits from
several interested and impressive prospects. Press
releases are being drafted to share good news and
announcements soon. Green field sites and existing
buildings are both an attraction for new prospects. The
other good news is the activity was distributed around
the county.
Existing industry expansions and business expansions
continue to occur in throughout the county. We
participated in numerous ribbon cuttings in the 2nd
quarter. Some were for new businesses, some for
relocations or expansions and some for milestone events
for companies, such as Belk’s 125 anniversary
celebration.
We continue to support our citizens and employers by
partnering with the Georgia DOL with seminars and a
career fair.
We always expect spring to be busy and it was. More
importantly, it was very productive!
Jackson becomes GACCE officer
The Georgia Association of Chamber of Commerce
Executives (GACCE) has added Daniel Jackson,
President/CEO of the Carroll County Chamber as second Vice Chair/Treasurer of its 2013-14 Board of Directors. Jackson began a four year term as part of the
GACCE executive committee on July 1, 2013.
GACCE is the professional society of Chamber executives and staff in the state of Georgia. The mission
of GACCE is to educate, engage, and empower
Chamber professionals.
We are helping sell land, we are inquiring about land,
we are having land tested, and we’re evaluating more
land throughout the county for development.
Workforce –Education continues to be a big focus and
the work of the Blue Ribbon Task Force is outstanding.
We are working with national leadership training groups
and discussing training opportunities for our community.
