It’s a Bridgeville Thing—Read Over It! 1st Quarter—2016 February—March and April, 2016 425 Bower Hill Road Bridgeville, PA 15017 412-221-6012 Office Hours: Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Washington Avenue Waterline Replacement, Sanitary Sewer Repair and Street Resurfacing Pennsylvania American Water Company Mainline Replacement is anticipated to start the first week of February. Approximately 3,100 linear feet of pipe between Chartiers Street and St. Clair Street is being replaced. The section from Chartiers Street to Bower Hill Road is to be completed first per PennDOT. The second section will be from Bower Hill Road to the point near St. Clair Street. The proposed location of the new main line is in the right lane of Washington Avenue when traveling from Chartiers Street towards St. Clair Street. The contractor for Pennsylvania American Water Company is Casper Colosimo and Sons. PennDOT is requiring this work to be done first so that Lane Construction, who is under contract with PennDOT, can complete their resurfacing work. The Sanitary Sewer repair has been placed out for bid with the awarding of the contract to be made at the February 8th Council Meeting. The contract for sanitary sewer repair work will specify that the repair work is to be started in early March and completed by April 15, 2015. All work will be done at night from 8 P.M. to 6:00 A.M. with the completion of both the waterline and sanitary sewer being accomplished by May 1, 2016. Borough Council Meets on the 2nd Monday of each month. Agenda meetings are at 6:30 and Voting meeting at 7:00 p.m. Parking Authority Meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. on the 3rd Monday of each month. Planning Commission Meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. on the last Monday of the month with these exceptions: May 23rd, and November/ December meeting is combined on December 5th. Take a moment to rest a spell on this lovely bench at the Kathleen Banks Building placed in honor of our Lena who gave so much time and effort to Bridgeville and the BAHS. She is surely missed by many! Celebrations to look forward to: March, 2016, we celebrate 5 years of ownership of our Kathleen Banks Building. August, 2016 will commemorate our 15th Anniversary. PRC WEST Backyard Composting Workshop sponsored by Bridgeville Borough will be held in the Chartiers Room of the Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Department. (*as of 1/24/16 their website has the incorrect location—it is NOT at the Borough Building.) This PA Resources Council workshop thoroughly covers the importance and benefits of composting, the process, setting up a compost pile, proper maintenance, and ways of using finished compost. Participants will receive a FreeGarden EARTH compost bin with attendance. The IRS will not call and demand payment over the phone. The real IRS will contact you with written correspondence to your mailing address should there be an issue with your taxes. If you receive a call from someone claiming to be from the IRS do not give them any information. Contact the Attorney General IRS Scam Hotline at 1-800-366-4484 to report the call you have received. Any other webpage is not sanctioned by the Borough of Bridgeville. At the present time the Borough of Bridgeville does not administer a Face Book page. Tuesday, April 26, 2016 Primary Election Day The following are part of Bridgeville's Code of Ordinances and adopted to maintain a safe community for all residents: Property owners/residents with sidewalks in front of their property are responsible for keeping them clear of ice and snow and clearing them within 12 hours of a snowfall. Snow is not permitted to be shoveled from the sidewalk into the street. Owners of dogs and cats must restrain their pets and not allow them to run loose. Repair and replacement of curbs and sidewalks are the responsibility of the property owners. Cars not in running condition and/or without a valid inspection sticker or registration are not permitted on residential property for more than 30 days. All residents of Bridgeville are required to be good neighbors and not allow activities on their property to generate excessive noise, accumulate trash or allow yards to be unkempt. Borough code requires regular maintenance of your property. Attention all LANDLORDS: April 30th and October 31st are important deadlines for you: “Every owner of rental dwelling units shall submit updated Tenant listings on or before April 30th and October 31st of each calendar year.” Forms are available on-line or at the Borough office.
