Welcome
to the new
canaan!
Sitting high in the Allegheny Mountains in eastern
Tucker County, Canaan Valley is the highest valley
of its size east of the Rocky Mountains. It was
designated a National Natural Landmark, and in
1994, the Valley became the nation’s 500th National
Wildlife Refuge.
Canaan Valley Resort State Park with its 6,000 acres
is considered one of the “crown jewels” of the West
Virginia State Park system.
Our picturesque resort is surrounded by 18 miles of
trails -- in wetlands and northern hardwood forests
-- as well as open meadows. Enjoy over 200 species
of birds, 600 types of wildflowers, and a forest full
of wildlife, including deer willing to greet you at
the entrance.

winter
recreation
The ski area was recently renovated to include
an upgraded snow-making system with additonal
snow guns, and a multi-lane, 1,200 ft. long tubing
park. This is the longest tubing park in the MidAtlantic region. There’s a new warming hut at the
tubing park with concessions, restrooms, a fireplace
and ticket kiosk. In the main ski area, there’s a new
beginner ski slope and dedicated ski school teaching
area. Make plans to rediscover Canaan this winter!

Skiing/Snowboarding
Downhill skiers and snowboarders of all levels love
our 43 slopes, 850 ft. vertical drop, and 180” of annual
snowfall along with outdoor beauty that only West
Virginia can offer.
Snow Tubing
One of the most popular places at the resort, our new
multi-lane tubing park gives the thrill of flying down
a 1,200-foot-lane while a magic carpet pulls you back
to the top, eliminating an uphill hike.
XC Skiing/Snowshoeing
The best way to experience the spectacular beauty of
our “winter wonderland” is by cross-country skiing
or snowshoeing. Enjoy 30 kilometers of marked, but
ungroomed, trails and acres upon acres of wide open
meadows to roam.
Ice Skating
Our outdoor, covered ice skating rink overlooking
the valley and the mountains offers a fabulous view
while skating the day (or night) away. There is an
indoor fireplace in the recreation building located at
the rink for skaters to relax and drink hot chocolate.
Visit us online for more info, seasonal dates,
rates, and to purchase lift tickets!
