Last year, The Potting Shed released
our first Limited Edition Christmas
Santa with both Santa and Ms. Claus
together. Being the romantic that he is,
Santa was holding a sprig of mistletoe
over Ms. Claus in an effort to solicit a
“Holiday Smooch”. The 2015 Santa
edition was such a success that we
have chosen to follow it up with
another tender Christmas moment
featuring Mom and Pop Claus, arm in arm, harmonizing a favorite
Christmas carol. Creatively designed and carefully hand painted, our
2015 Limited Edition Santa should prove to be every bit as popular
as its 2014 counterpart.

Since the late 1908’s, we have introduced at least
one or two snowman figures, large or small, each year.
For 2015 we have found what we feel is one of the most
classic snowman figures that we have ever considered.
Standing almost 8” high, this man of snow is flanked by
his two adoring architects beaming with pride and joy.
Anyone who has grown up in “Snow Country” can
certainly relate! Meticulously hand decorated, glazed and
kiln fired by our artists, and full of childhood memories,
positions this snowman as one of our very most favorite!

In our household, the Christmas tree is a carefully
managed process involving a scrupulous survey of tree
vendors, a painstaking assessment of many trees, and
a little bit of tree surgery so that the “chosen” tree fits
into the living room with only millimeters between the
tree top and the ceiling. Then the decorating commences
involving a pinch of interior design, a dash of physical
stamina and a plethora of lights, beads and, of
course, ornaments! Many are nostalgic mementos
conjuring memories from years past. New ornaments,
we have found, are the seed of future memories in the
making. Almost 20 years ago, we designed our first
round hanging ornament and every Christmas since,
we have released that same round shape with one of
the Dedham Pottery’s other famous patterns. Three
years ago, we featured the “Snow Tree” and look
what that wrought last winter in New England! In
light of that, and in hopes of moderating this winter,
Dated “Christmas Plates” have also been the source of
great interest among our customers for display, for
serving and/or for rousing warm memories of what
will, all too soon, be Christmas past!

Years ago, Chotsie Starr, the matriarch of The Potting
Shed, designed a Christmas rabbit with a necklace of
Holly. We produced it for that year and then “put it in
the closet”……’til now! This year we are reintroducing
her rabbit, albeit on a different figure, for rabbit
lovers everywhere and/or those who like a hint of
Dedham Pottery in their Holiday decor.

that we feel is one of the best sea salts on the market.

New Englanders have always been respected for our
creativity and ingenuity. Faced with 100 inches of
snow last winter, Boston took to farming….“Snow
Farming.” Or as many might have put it, “Lug it out
of my way and put it somewhere where I don’t have to
deal with it!” And so we did! One of the “farms”, a
vacant lot in the otherwise “toney” side of Boston,
ended up with a pile of snow 75 feet high. The last
discernible flakes melted away on July 14th- That’s
four months after winter “ended”!?!?!? Our 2015
Christmas Mouse -“Snowball”- is a representation of
all the children, here in the Northeast who relished the
fact that they had an endless inventory for castles,
tunnels, snowmen, snowballs, sledding venues, etc. all
complemented with a “flurry” of no school “snowdays”!

Sea Salt circuitously found its way into our
house several years ago. Simply put, it’s bolder and
tastier than common table salt! And today, sorry Mr.
Morton, we use it exclusively in our cooking and on
the table. In cahoots with some business folks next
door to us, we designed a very handy “Salter” that is

Way back in 1992, The Potting Shed released our
first Limited Edition Santa Claus figure. A good
number of our “faithful” have all twenty-two released
since then and have eagerly awaited the 2015
edition…..our 24th! For those who may be minus a
few, we have residual inventory, both first and
seconds, on some, but not all, of past editions. The
following pictures outline those for which we still have
available stock. Let me note that we have inventory of
only one or two on some and larger stock on others.
All orders for these past editions should be placed by
telephone with our “Hare-Brained” sales associates.
A few qualifications:
 Supplies are limited so they are available
on an “early bird gets the worm” basis.
 Second Quality figures are sold as is. We
will do our best to send only those
seconds that have minor flaws.
