elmex® SENSITIVE PROFESSIONAL™ toothpaste with Pro
elmex® SENSITIVE PROFESSIONAL™ toothpaste with Pro-Argin™ Technology For the at-home treatment of dentine hypersensitivity Active ingredients: 8% arginine and calcium carbonate Fluoride content: 1450 ppm FFormulation: Silica-based toothpaste pH 9.0 Indication: For daily oral care of patients with pain due to dentine hypersensitivity Product benefits: Open dentine tubules caused by exposed dental necks or enamel loss lead to dentine hypersensitivity. In patients with sensitive teeth cold or sweet food and liquids or touch can trigger short, sharp pain sensations. The Pro-Argin™ Technology in elmex® SENSITIVE PROFESSIONAL™ toothpaste deeply occludes the open dentine tubules and thereby eliminates the cause of pain. Instant relief with direct application: When applied directly to the sensitive tooth with a fingertip and gently massaged for 1 minute elmex® SENSITIVE PROFESSIONAL™ toothpaste provides instant pain relief from dentine hypersensitivity. Lasting relief with regular brushing: Regular use of elmex® SENSITIVE PROFESSIONAL™ toothpaste in daily oral care achieves progressive and lasting sensitivity relief. Application: • The product is applied to a gentle toothbrush and teeth are brushed twice daily, making sure to include all sensitive areas. • For instant relief the product is applied directly to the sensitive tooth with a fingertip and gently massaged for 1 minute, once a week or less frequently. • Children of 6 years and younger: use a pea sized amount for supervised brushing to minimise swallowing. Consult a dentist or doctor if fluoride is consumed from other sources. Package size: 75 ml L_elm_gp_tp.indd 1 30.06.2010 15:43:11 Uhr Scientific evidence Instant dentine hypersensitivity relief with direct application for 1 minute In a double-blind, parallel group study, 120 subjects applied elmex® SENSITIVE PROFESSIONAL™ toothpaste, a commercially available desensitising toothpaste with 2% potassium ion, or a daily use fluoride toothpaste (MFP) directly to sensitive teeth with a fingertip and gently massaged for 1 minute. Subjects then brushed with their assigned product and a soft bristled toothbrush twice daily for 3 days. The test group experienced statistically significant improvements compared to the control pastes in both air blast and tactile sensitivity score (Fig. 1) immediately and after 3 days of use.
