ABOUT THE BARRE
The BARRE workout at Genesis will SHAPE and TONE your whole body! The BARRE workout is one of the hottest classes that has
swept the nation. It’s a fun full body workout set to music. Combining the Ballet Barre exercises and Ballet technique, with Pilates
movement principles creates an upbeat atmosphere similar to a Ballet class, but without the dance aspect. The BARRE workout is a
high intensity workout that provides an energizing program increasing strength throughout the whole body, especially the core and
legs, and increases range of motion and flexibility! BARRE class exercises are performed mostly in a standing position at the barre
so as to develop better posture, balance and whole body strength. All classes integrate a wide variety of exercises to shape and tone
the glutes, thighs and core. While these classes are very challenging we encourage participates of all levels of fitness to join our
BARRE classes. Once instructors complete the training they will have the knowledge and tools needed to assist students with any
modifications needed.
ABOUT THE BARRE INSTRUCTOR TRAINING COURSE
As in a traditional Pilates format, our BARRE workout is mindful movement with focus on proper alignment, precision and sound
biomechanics. During the 8 hour BARRE Instructor Training course skills are reinforced so instructors can make the necessary
corrections needed to enhance students learning experience and to maintain a safe yet exhilarating workout. This one-day, instructor
training enables each participant to teach BARRE classes for Genesis Health Clubs locations which are offering this BARRE program.
At this time these locations are; Wichita Rock Road, West Central and the Ice Center as well as Lawrence North and Overland Park.
Participants receive an instructional manual, choreography and a BARRE Instructor Certificate of Completion. BARRE instructors
receive new choreography 3 times per year at no additional charge. Instructors are given 30 days to schedule an assessment prior
to being put on the BARRE schedule. The assessment may be done in person or by video.
