About HAJ
Housing Agency of Jamaica (HAJ) is a land and
housing development company that seeks to provide
affordable housing solutions for Jamaicans.
HAJ is a wholly-owned government agency that falls
under the Ministry of Transport, Works & Housing.
The agency is the result of the 1998 merger of three
entities: Caribbean Housing Finance Corporation
(CHFC), National Housing Corporation Limited (NHC)
and Operation PRIDE, and was renamed Housing
Agency of Jamaica Limited in 2008.

Our Goals
Q. How do I qualify to purchase an HAJ solution?
A. For our open market sales (serviced lots and houses),
once you can make a deposit and secure a mortgage
from a lender then you are qualified.
HAJ has a commitment to the people of Jamaica.

Q. Once I have identified an HAJ property that I would
like to purchase, what are the documents required:
A. A manager’s cheque for 15% deposit; prequalification
letter (that is, proof of how the balance of the purchase
amount will be paid); TRN and NIS cards; valid form of
identification (Passport, Driver’s License or Voter’s ID);
birth certificate; marriage certificate (if applicable).
To ensure customer compliance with required
payments.

National Environment & Planning Agency (NEPA)
and other regulatory agencies during development.
Q. How is the public informed when there are new
projects?
A. We advertise in the local newspapers, on our website:
www.hajl.gov.jm, via social media and any other
appropriate and available media.
Q. Do you have repossessed units?
A. Yes, from time to time we do. They are advertised in
the newspapers and sold at public auction.

A. Yes, for our open market sales, multiple purchases can
be made based on your affordability.

A. We have projects island wide.
Q. Do you provide low income housing solutions?
A. Yes we do. HAJ seeks to satisfy the shelter needs at
the low and middle income range of the market.
Q. Do you provide loans for mortgage or home
improvement?
A. No.
