President`s Thoughts Trip Report:
Volume 17 Number 9 The official newsletter of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins Booster Club April 11, 2016 President’s Thoughts By Kathy Thomas Spring is in the air! The first sign, of course, is the circus is in town! Easter will have come and gone. What an uneventful winter we had… not that I am complaining! As I write this we are now in first place in our division. This afternoon we played Hershey for those two points. What a nail biter of a game! Hershey giving up a two goal lead!! Who would have thought Josh Archibald would take a fighting penalty let alone a game misconduct for continuing an altercation! Even with all the penalties we took, we still Trip Report: By Chip Hanuscik As our regular season travel schedule comes to an end, I want to thank our members who chose to come on our trips. We have a great travel group and I appreciate all of your efforts to be there on time and keep our trips running smoothly. Our trip to Portland and Providence went well in spite of a Noreaster Storm that threatened to mess things up. And our members enjoyed the pulled out a win! This game was full of surprises! Most of our remaining games are against teams in our division. We still have one more regular season road trip on April 15th to Lehigh Valley. Let’s end the regular season with a bang! Before you know it the playoffs will be here. I have no doubt that we will make them but how far can we go without our boys that are still in Pittsburgh. Hopefully we can get a couple of playoff trips together. As there really isn’t much notice please remember to check Face Book, Twitter and the Booster Club Hotline for any upcoming playoff trips. Once playoffs are over, I am trying to get an Art n Vino class together. It will be a private party for Penguin fans. They are working on a penguin to paint. If anyone is interested let me know as we will need 30 people to make it work. I an thinking late June or July to celebrate the season and keep in touch over the summer. free day in Toronto as we traveled north of the border. There are no new trips on sale this month as we look to the post season. We are still taking sign-ups for the kids trip to Lehigh Valley. And I invite all of our members to check out the Association of American Hockey League Booster Clubs Convention, always a great time and with the event being held in Windsor Locks, Connecticut which is only a short three and a half hour drive. See Stew at the Booster Club Table for more information. Monday, April 11, 2016 Let’s Go Pens!!! Hallelujah!!! Both Ty and Adam signed AHL contracts with the Penguins and have played in both Wheeling and Wilkes-Barre this year. BC Logo Block Light Ty Loney grew up in the Pittsburgh area since his father played fo the Pittsburgh Penguins. Ty started playing hockey at the early age of 4. He has been a huge hockey fan. He played 4 years at the University of Denver graduating with a degree in Psychology. He played against Adam Krause. He has 2 brothers and a sister who all played hockey to some degree (his sister played field hockey). He also has a dog and a cat. He has a girlfriend named Bailey. His family has been to Wilkes-Barre to see him play. His dad doesn’t say too much about his playing unless he asks him for advice. His favorite players were Lemieux and Kovalev. Adam grew up in Northern Minnesota and graduated from the University of Minnesota/ Duluth with a degree in Finance. He started skating at the age of 3 or 4. He also has 2 older brothers and a fiancee. His fiancée is in Wheeling and he informed us that he is getting married this summer. Congratulations and best of luck. He shocked RoseAnn because he doesn’t look like he is older than 15! Only his second brother played hockey but didn’t pursue it. He is currently staying in a hotel while here. He states that his dog doesn’t get along with Ty. He also told us that Wheeling has a nice bus with beds and it is the best in the league.
