Hello!
We are excited that you are interested in participating in the 2016 Caren MercerAndreason Street Painting Festival. Held for many years in downtown Prosser as a part
of the Harvest Festival and Balloon Rally in September, this event is beloved by locals
and visitors alike.
After some serious consideration of the event, it was determined that in order to continue hosting the artists we needed to make a few changes. Starting in 2016 this event
will no longer be just an exhibition, but a competition. We are asking each adult artist
to find a business or other sponsor to cover their $50 entry fee. In return we encourage
you to consider featuring something about that business in your artwork. Your sponsor
will also receive public recognition for their support of you as an artist during the event
and all artists participating are eligible for cash prizes as well as other awards.
We still encourage the participation of community youth, and these divisions will pay a
smaller $10 entry fee and also have the opportunity to win cash prizes and awards. For

years to come!

 A social media mention during promotion of the event
 Their name above the artists assigned square
 Inclusion on the event webpage once the application has been accepted
The right to hang a banner promoting their business up to a 2’x6’ during the event
(banner must be provided by the sponsoring business or artist).
 Artists are encouraged to include something significant to their sponsoring business within their artwork, but this is NOT required.

2016 Liability Waiver
Caren Mercer-Andreason Street Painting Festival
I recognize and understand that officials, volunteers, and members of the Prosser Chamber of Commerce will not accept any responsibility for loss, damage or theft of CHALK ART, ART or CRAFT
ITEMS, or PERSONAL PROPERTY at the Caren Mercer-Andreason Street Painting Festival.
I realize that every precaution is taken to eliminate any injuries or hazard and a competent supervisor is present; however in the event of any injury, I hereby waive, release, defend, and hold harmless
from any liability for damages for personal injury including accidental death, as well as from claims
for property damage which may arise in connection with the above named activity, against the supervisor, the Prosser Chamber of Commerce, the City of Prosser, and any officers, officials, agents,
employees or volunteers connected with these entities. I further permit the use of activity/event photography and or video for media promotion.

Every participating artist, artists assistant, OR guardian of a minor participant MUST sign a liability waiver and return it to the Prosser Chamber of Commerce before their application will be accepted.

C HALK A RTIST
R ULES & I NFO
Please Note: All artwork for the festival MUST be appropriate for family/public
viewing (absolutely NO nudes or political statements will be allowed).

Artists must keep their work within the parameters of the street canvas as requested during the application process

Overnight security is provided Friday & Saturday night

You will be notified of accepted application on or before September 15th, 2016

Chalk painting begins at 9:00am Saturday, September 24th

Chalk painting will conclude at 12:00 noon Sunday, September 25th

Awards will be presented at 2:00pm Sunday on the downtown stage

FREE parking is available for artists and spectators at the Depot Square parking
lot between 6th & 7th streets, in the Banner Bank parking lot on Meade Ave,
and Alegria & Company CPA’s parking on 6th St. & Dudley

Streets will be closed and NO vehicles or parking are allowed in the event area

NO SMOKING is allowed in the event area

Chalk will be provided to all artists. If you know that your artwork will require a
significant amount of certain colors please bring additional chalk or work with
other artists to share the chalk that is provided.

