The Test Is Open Book
May is the month of the year when those in school will stress out over Final Exams. Some will stay up till
the early morning hours trying to memorize the material they should have absorbed in previous months
while others will work hard to create a system or mantra by which to jog their memory. Then there are
those who will simply give up and hope luck is on their side or the teacher will grade on the curve.
Sometimes we live our lives the same way. The right answer to all of our life situations” is in “The Book”.
John had just finished his forth automobile tune-up and was feeling pretty good. Each purred like a pack
of kittens as soon as he turned on the ignition. John was about to recharge an air conditioning system
when he spotted the flashing blue light on his phone advising there was a message. His closest friend
Louie had died when his Army platoon was ambushed. John was devastated. He sat for hours starring at
a picture of Louie and a group of other friends. In two months they had plans to drive across the country.
They were also planning to go into business together after Louie separated from the military. This was a
life changing event John wasn’t sure he could get past. If you are bereaved, the answer is in The Book:
Revelation 21 (KJV) And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth
were passed away; and there was no more sea. 2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming
down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a great voice
out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they
shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 4 And God shall wipe away all
tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be
any more pain: for the former things are passed away
When I was selected to go to Washington and train as a Congressional Lobbyist I was so excited. Now
that I am here I wish I had not agreed to lease this apartment in Baltimore. For the last few days the
sounds of people shouting and police sirens have made it difficult to think. I want to call family and friends
back home to hear a familiar voice but the time zone difference makes me feel like I am intruding. There
is a loud noise in the hallway. Maybe I need another lock on the door. If you are lonely or frightened, the
answer is in The Book:
Psalm 27 (KJV) The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of
my life; of whom shall I be afraid? 2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me
to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. 3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall
not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. 4 One thing have I desired of the
Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the
beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple. 5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his
pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

May Anniversaries
Living Word Church wishes Bro/Sis Garcia
a very Happy Anniversary
A Mother's Love
A Mother's love is something that no one can explain,
It is made of deep devotion and of sacrifice and pain,
It is endless and unselfish and enduring come what may
For nothing can destroy it or take that love away . . .
It is patient and forgiving when all others are forsaking,
And it never fails or falters even though the heart is breaking . . .
It believes beyond believing when the world around condemns,
And it glows with all the beauty of the rarest, brightest gems . . .
It is far beyond defining, it defies all explanation,
And it still remains a secret like the mysteries of creation . . .
A many splendored miracle man cannot understand
And another wondrous evidence
of God's tender guiding hand.

Rev. Timothy Spell
Each year Rev. Spell travels to Rio Rancho, New Mexico to be
with his Living Word Church Family. We enjoy so much his
music and his Ministry. During our time together he
conducts a Music Workshop with our Adult Sanctuary Choir
which culminates in a huge Choir Extravaganza during our
Evening Service on Sunday, May 3rd. Mark this date on your
calendar and then go next door and mark it on your
neighbor’s. You may miss your blessing if you are not there
because I am sure the Holy Ghost will be in God’s House as
Praise and Worship goes up.
